Oops! It was reported. Yep, it's a problem related to the new mouse controls (which I do not expect to use. Do we have to center the mouse when opening the turret? Firefox 36.0.4

TERRIBLE problem: On Shaft sniper mode, my "site circle" is now off center (upper left) so I cannot get a bulls-eye on the red dot. This occurred April 8, 2015 at the server update (11 PM CDT). I have tried changing turrets, clearing cache, and rebooting Tanki. Problem persists and I cannot use Shaft effectively until I get it fixed. Is this a known problem? A new problem?
-
They do, at every level, and will use the easiest weapons: Hammer and Firebird fire mainly face ahead, until you learn to pivot the turret. Similarly, if you are shafting, you need three things: sharp vision, awareness of stuff outside the scope, and knowing where your target is heading. If you don't have that, you're a shaft noob and will fall to other shafts like a leaf.
-
I upgraded to Digital paint because railguns are more numerous than enemy shafts, and that paint don't help at Damage x 2 :(
-
From a Shaft perspective, you beat a Vulcan Mammoth by 1) shoot it 2) duck 3) repeat Of course, you can probably never kill it more than twice in a battle with no drugs. DD with Shaft will overcome Mammoth in about 5 shots.

The shaking of the shaft prevents extremely tight shots, as on the parapet holes at Monte Carlo. It still shakes if another tank is next to you on the left rear side. So please stand clear of the bazooka exhaust. While I'm here: a "you're welcome" to those who thanked me for my selfless visits to the Red Team at Silence. A shaft behind the box is worth it's weight in gold boxes. For the noobs trying to sneak up behind me, that's what that mine you hit was there for. :P The *most important thing* for teams fortunate to have a Shaft in their pocket: do not stand in my line of fire (even Isidas), which is *all the way across*...otherwise, I have to let you die before I can plug the attacker you are blocking from my view. So far at Silence for the Red defense, I am 15 wins for 20 battles. Almost forgot: a shout out to great tanker general Tesopoyla who saved my butt, and the team, from a loss by troll at Monte Carlo.

Fly Hacker (what else?) in Monte Carlo
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in Fly Hacker (what else?) in Monte Carlo Game Violation Reports
On my team, but blocking me, and losing as many flags as he took. He also lowered the battle fund and took more than he would have deserved for just THREE kills. LUKAS_X3000_KILERIS (bright green railgun hornet - Lt.Col ) Screenshot : delete Video: delete See video times: 0:33, 0:50, battle chat and roster 1:24, 2:18, 3:50 It's a little fuzzy, but you can see the hack and his name on the top banner. Blocking them for a day seems entirely too lenient. A week might be too long, but they deserve it. Most are never reported, so there are a very large number who get away with it. -
Tiknari - troll disrupting Monte Carlo
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in Tiknari - troll disrupting Monte Carlo Game Violation Reports
I had to rejoin this battle twice after Tiknari kept shoving me into enemy fire. This player was climbing on other players, shoving them into enemy fire, or even off the map. When a flag capture could have been avoided, he blocked the team from shooting. The video captures the last 14 minutes of his antics. Fortunately we persevered! (Pink Thunder tank, times: 0:50, 1:08, 1:35 flag falls, 7:20 spoils aim, 12:58 but ends up helping, 13:55 trying to get flag returned, 14:40 needless self-destruct) Video: delete On the lighter side, he did give me a video showing me at my best, as well as my team. I still don't understand some of the things (pushing, shoving matches) that you see in the video. -
I think that is an April Fool's Day joke: none of those are actual proposals, although the way I play, rotation is limited to sniping with Shaft ;)
-
Is there nothing to be done about the *ridiculous* number of zero players: those in battles for hours that never score, never participate? How and why do players spend *entire games* on the battle roster without being in the battle, just taking up space? I suggested collusion in one case where the obvious intent was to allow one team to play 10 players while the other could only play 5 -- the other five spaces being occupied by non-players, many of them high-ranked.
-
How many players use Shaft in Silence? Hint: you can only have one on the Red Team. The only safe sniping point is right behind that cargo container, from where you can command the entire Red base area. Unfortunately, you have to consider drugging (DA) because your team will leave you alone there, covering the flag, or with one other member. And you spend 75% of your time on the scope. Suggestions: -- Place a mine at the "back door" ( along the side ledge) to discourage folks from sneaking up and shooting you in the rear. -- Keep your head down to avoid counter-snipers. -- Beware of players scooting across to the bridge: they are harder to shoot there On a typical 15 minute battle, I would pick off 25 to 30 Blue attackers, many of whom will make the same mistake again and again.

As for using Hornet for Isida, it helps their mobility, but I've seen some just pop from a railgun. I don't go *anywhere* without my Viking, so when I captured a flag in Monte Carlo using Isida, I had to go *completely around* the battlefield: in across the high bridge, completely through the enemy, out across the low bridge. It helped that the other Isidas and withering Shaft volleys were wreaking havoc on the enemy as well. (Anti-railgun paint is highly recommended.) By the end of the battle, there were 4 Isidas on our team and 3 on the enemy team.
-
At M2, it takes me three Shaft shots (or 1+ double damage) to kill the average Isida (some are ridiculously durable). So unless he's partly depleted, I have to pray I have time for 3 shots.

Yeah, it was nice having all those guys trying to jump in. As it turned out, the Red color never changed ONCE, ending score 83-0.

>> kayitsiz, on 02 Apr 2015 - 03:42, said: >> No one uses shaft in poly CP, so no one have paint against it Tell me about it! Here's a story for you Shaft fans: I entered a 15-minute Polygon CP battle at 12 minutes to go, and sat half-exposed in the upper right corner of the CP pit (not connected to the CP). I was there for *THREE MINUTES* as the battle raged, hurriedly dispatching enemies who neared or entered the pit. After killing 15 of the more than 50 enemy casualties in that time, I finally got shot. This was 5 kills a minute, mostly Hammers.

First time I've caught Fly Hack in Rio
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in First time I've caught Fly Hack in Rio Game Violation Reports
nakul_the_master used the "fly hack" twice: once right before the start of the video, to take the Blue Flag, then again right before he left at 8:30 on the video. Video: delete -
COLLUSION to fix a battle
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in COLLUSION to fix a battle Game Violation Reports
5 players occupied the last 5 spots on the Red Team, and did not play, so that their cohorts on the Blue Team would have a 2-to-1 advantage in the battle. Then left when the score got out of reach. Screenshot: delete I was able to outwit them, but only for a few kills. This is beneath contempt. -
The usefulness of drugs, as you can see from the free sky ones, is to keep you active, and the time outs prevent you from keeping ALL of them during an entire battle. Yes, donators have a big advantage because you can buy drugs by the THOUSANDS, reducing their costs to 30% of the single-purchase price. - At 70% off, the repair costs 45, and you might use 2 or 3 in a battle to keep from getting set back - At 70% off, double damage or repair costs 15, so you can frugally use about 5 or 6 of each in desperate situations For a typical battle, you would spend 270 crystals and recoup most of that, if not more, if your team wins.

Taking a terrible time to load, I arrived 5 minutes into a 15 minute Rio battle, and still had Hammer 2+ from a Polygon battle yesterday. The Reds were losing (Red 1, Blue 3) and their flag had been taken. I killed 1 tank and was about to kill another when *someone* pulled the old illegal replay the last 5 seconds hack to keep me from killing them. When I was killed, I said "that's *ss" and proceeded to circle right and totally decimate the enemy camp, returning the flag and killing all but one enemy tank (who had quickly switched to a flame thrower). The Red team, realizing their extreme good fortune, pressed home their attacks and the final score was Red 10, Blue 4. The moral here is "don't poke the bear." I was only going there to practice defending the Red flag, after I was eaten alive by Generals and Marshals on my last time at Server EN1.

No, that's hammer M3 hitting a Mammoth with a full gas tank (debris is remarkable!)
-
I would say save your crystals after the first one or two micro-upgrades, then you can afford *whichever* turret you decide on. I had buyer's remorse with Titan because even with the new strengths, the speed loss is ridiculous just to stand a couple more hits. Actually, I was playing so frequently, that I often had to wait until I made the rank required. Isida only has that at M3 (brigadier) and Hornet at the next higher rank.
-
I get to watch Isidas more than use one. And I've been noticing a disquieting feature about some novice Isida users: you have to practically push them where they need to go. Besides the usual info (where's the attack, where should I go, what can I do, who can I shoot) they also need to check who's weak. We have all seen that shooting an Isida is a great shortcut to tell him/her that you need Health. It is clearly displayed above your tank, but sometimes they will recharge the wrong person, or at the wrong time (e.g. during an attack when they need to use their power offensively, rather than just keeping the big guns alive). I think this means that some get lost in the fog of war. Some go overboard by always running solo attacks: I killed the same one more than 15 times today in Monte Carlo, always trying to get past the Shaft guard and seldom succeeding. One time I got killed by him/her because not one, but TWO of my teammates did not even notice the enemy approaching, and drove blissfully away. (Version of the "I need to hurry to get killed again" scenario) Your own Isidas can hurt your survival chances, too, especially for Shaft when they will stand in your only line of fire while trying to "help" you! You can recharge teammates from the back or side. In Serpuhov, one Isida (apparently texting someone during a battle) prevented anybody from firing to support a besieged flag holder...and did not even attack the enemy that came and killed our man and recaptured the flag! We could really use an automatically displayed message that says "get out of the way"... As an Isida, I always tried to be as stealthy as possible: you might be able to kill an enemy before he kills you, but get too obvious and you will attract attacks every time you move!

THREE more troll sabotagers in one battle on Monte Carlo
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in THREE more troll sabotagers in one battle on Monte Carlo Game Violation Reports
Pink shaft shooting and shoving teammates, two others preventing capture of a flag. Started video to document it. There was more but it would have crossed the 20 min limit. Video: delete Pink shaft 3-3 aiming at me 7:19 after shoving other tanks, again at 10:20. DestroyerZ10 (Hornet) left and returned, pokes me 8:30, gets helpfully flipped. aurimas758 blocks me deliberately 8:53 and 9:13. The latter two, Z10 and aurimas are both destroyed. (Screenshot at http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l640/dfoofnik/3Saboteurs.png) Two are impeding defense at 10:47. DestroyerZ10 shooting teammates at 11:27. -
Players not playing, or sabotaging other players (Frozen_FX)
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in Players not playing, or sabotaging other players (Frozen_FX) Game Violation Reports
On Monte Carlo March 24, UTC 0500, two players joined with no intention of playing: Frozen_FX was actively disrupting other players, and Cyborge was sitting in the rear for practically an entire battle. When play resumed, I started recording video, and when they did the same things, I warned them that they could be reported. Cyborge was initially indifferent, but began playing in earnest. Frozen_FX continued bumping my aim with Shaft for the first 3 minutes, then left, then came back to try the same thing at 5:45 (killed for his effort) and to block my shot at 6:00. He had 3 kills and briefly took the flag, but left again at 11:40 after being killed multiple times. Video: (1:30, 5:45, 6:00) delete
