Yay, Assault Mode!!!
-
Well, I didn’t think so either until I saw that picture of the new elevated barricade box on Industrial Zone. Seeing such an obvious design nod to Magnum IMO makes those comments valid.

I like Yorkshire, and am happy it is in the game permanently. CP mode seems balanced, which is good considering the Assault Mode version was wildly unbalanced. I just hope we get Assault Mode again for the Christmas holiday, either on Yorkshire or a new map. I also played Highways, and while I noticed the base changes they didn’t impact me much. Tanki does have a problem coming. Players are excited about these new maps - but MatchMaking will remove our ability to choose which of these maps we get to play. For once Tanki won’t be able to drag out the ‘just play PRO battles’ line, since new maps don’t exist in PRO.

Red flag is/was on an elevated platform. Not the top, but sounds like it will move to street level. Was looking forward to battling you in Deck 9 earlier. You would have creamed me with that Striker combo. Good battle though. Sorry you had to bail. My question - are we just getting map changes or will this update also include - - - > The removal of standard battles from the battle list. ???

Post here your issues with lags and server instability

Latest update seems to have improved my client freezes. Played all day today, even on a WiFi a couple of rooms from the router and not a single game Freeze. I hope that’s not coincidence, by game freezes are/were my #1 peeve. Still problematic but not overly troubling to me is the lobby. I’m still seeing battles with 18 player team counts on 12 team player maps. Also a lot of green friend indicators for battles with none of my friends in them. -
Today I received a finish first mission. I could not complete it. I was first in several battles but through bad luck someone captured a flag or passed me through skill in the last few minutes of the game. I started a DM and was leading through the first six kills but real life interrupted so no telling if I would have made it that time. I ended up changing out a mission with a 2k crystal reward. I have never done that before, and I am not happy about it.

I saw a jump/fly hacker in Poly CP make a go for a black box. I was too far away to see who it was or if he took the box. I later played a battle where I took 1300 crystals doubled by Premium to 2600 plus. Not a single box fell, so I’m also thinking the drop rate is lower than usual.

A thought of why majority of players are unskilled

Buying with real money at WO4 will get you a sweet M2 garage. Won’t help at M3 cause you have to buy all over again, but you will be experienced with more equipment. But you’ll absolutely dominate the M2 ranks. Could be fun ;) Mammoth Fire works on tiny maps, but RIP daily missions. -
That was my perception as well. I played an Iran DM then a series of about three Poly CP NS battles. Not a single box fell. No black, no gold.

Good grief. Glad I missed this mess.

Poll needs better options. My opinion is that you can get to the late M2 ranks without developing skill - because the game limits players to one or two hull and turret combinations. All purchases before M3 are throwaway, so players are disinclined to spend crystals much less real money. This in turn limits players abilities to adapt equipment use to maps, which then obscures the imbalance of many maps. All of this comes crashing down when M3 equipment unlocks. From then on, you have to play with and against pros who know everything about the game. Adapt or leave. Many leave. . -
Why do you still play Tanki and how do you spend your time?

I used to be a Poly CP grinder but clans and takeover teams have mostly ruined that mode. I can grind in DM and still do well, but teaming turrets are still an occasional irritant. Isida, Hammer, and Rail are the usual suspects. They’ll kill other turrets but not their own kind. Sometimes Railguns will set up a defensive formation and double knife anyone who approaches. I can do well whether this happens or not, but again, DMs are just a crystal grind. They are seldom fun. Fun is CTF, when teams know what they are doing. That means strong defense AND offense. Unfortunately most CTF battles are horrendously one sided, which usually means no one is on defense. Unbalanced maps are equally to blame, but since that’s not going to change, I do have some easy tips for good defense. 1 - Use mines - a team not mining their flag just doesn’t want to win. 2 - Use Titan - have at least one or two squatting very close if not on top of your flag. Titans should lay most of the defensive mines since they are harder to kill. 3 - Use Isida - have at least one or two backing up the Titans, making them nearly immortal. Don’t lay mines with Isida since enemy snipers will target them first. 4 - Use Freeze - have one very close to the flag in order to slow down anyone who gets too close or grabs the flag and tries to make an escape. 5 - Midfield with two Vikings bearing Hammer, Rico, or Fire - For defense, this combo should finish off anyone who gets past your flag defenders. These two also play offense by supporting and escorting team mate flag carriers on the way back to your base. This leaves about half your team to focus on offense. Let them rush the flag right? Wrong. God I hadn’t intended this to be a tome, but good CTF offense needs two types. Sure you need flag rushers wearing light or medium hulls, but you also need distractors, also called sacrifices. Those folks rush the flag but don’t take it. Instead they detonate enemy mines and distract the enemy defensive forces, while your team’s true flag bearer zooms in behind you unchallenged. Games with these types of players are hard to find. Games with these types of players on both sides are extremely rare, but I’ve had some luck on Deck 9. But to tie this all together, these balanced CTF battles are why I still play. . -

I play for fun. I almost have an M4 garage, so I’m still working on that too. -
Should Finish #1 missions be changed to Finish in top 2?
austen_pierce replied to I-Hate-Druggers in Archive
Top 2 for team battles, meaning a total of 4 slots can complete the mission, 2 on each team Top 3 for DMs -
I think Riddler is right, and Alterniva has no one but themselves to thank. After all, who in their right mind buys M3 equipment at list price? No, we wait for sales, personal discounts, shop discounts, and so on, overlapping if possible.

This. 5k is a steal for any of these paints. I also bought Vav not because it was super unique overall but because it was unique to me. I’m not super concerned about the championship or even the teams behind these paints. If I win something, great, but I’ve already received more than my crystals worth for the paint. That said, I’m going to be more conservative about buying special offer bundles going forward. Other than the Moskow paint, I’ve bought every paint bundle in the last year, so I have a lot of unique paints. Many like Snowflake, Fire of Valor, Secret of the Aliens, and Nightmare are very good and will see time on my tank again as the seasons change. But others like Spangles, Retina, Pumpkins, and Chill Bro are pretty meh IMO. Now that I am further along in my Tanki career and just don’t need crystals that badly, I’ll be more discriminating with respect to which of these paint+crystals bundles I drop coin for. In simpler language, I’ll probably only buy if the paints are highly appealing visually. Given that the next such bundles will probably be the. Christmas ones, I kinda think all the above is hot air and that I’ll be buying those bundles. I also expect and am looking forward to an animated Christmas paint - - - Twinkling Christmas Lights Falling Snow, Dripping Icicles ;) Glowing / Pulsing Red Nose Reindeer Opening Presents Flying Sleigh << this would be the bomb right here Static paints could be - - Christmas Trees Candy Canes Santa Hats Metallic Oraments Wreaths Can you tel I’m getting excited about the Christmas holidays? :D

Peppers looks interesting but it’s too Rasta for my taste. Bought Vav.

How many Tanki accounts do you have that you maintain your Daily Mission Chain?
austen_pierce replied to ByeByeBye in Archive
Just my main. I have three alts which have been collecting dust for months. I have no plans to play any alts in the foreseeable future. All alts are M2 and there’s just no fun in grinding at those ranks. I grind enough on my main. -
1000 crystals for destroying 999 tanks? I can get that in a daily mission for destroying 25 tanks. Pass.
-
Yes, individual rockets should track targets better. I also think the lock-on countdown should be shortened a bit. On busy maps it’s too easy for tanks to find cover.

One could also read the turrets with 0 or 1 votes as needing a buff/improvement. However I maintain that these numbers are skewed. Hammer has 0 as of this posting. Firebird, Freeze, Striker, and Vulcan all have 1 vote as of this post. Do all of these need a buff? Maybe. Hammer and Vulcan both saw deep, soul-crushing nerds last year, and IMO Alterniva went too far. I’d be happy to see both of these turrets improved, although Hammer is tricky since it’s effectiveness is a combination of damage, reload, and pellet spread. All three have been nerfed, and I think that was too much, however Hammer in the right hands is still deadly due to rare module usage. Vulcan needs a modest damage buff - Alterniva can’t just give it back the 30% they cut out last year, but they’ve got to give something back - the gyro nerf plus that deep damage cut has this turret collecting dust in most garages including mine. Striker - this turret was buffed a few times after it’s launch, so I’m doubtful we’ll see another meaningful buff anytime soon. IMO Striker could use a damage and/or reload buff. Or maybe an auto-aim cone widening. I fire way too many rockets into the wild. Fire and Freeze don’t need buffs. They are fine as they are.

Those health bars disappear over long distances, so if you’re in a big map, and want to use an untraceable weapon like Smoky or Thunder, a cammo paint in brush can get you a high DL rate. No, it doesn’t always work, but in battles with a lot of flashy paints, going low profile can get you out of a few deaths. Just choose carefully. Well known paints associated with low rank like Forrester might get you singled out by enemies, drawing even more attention, not less. Case in point - Spark. Pretty paint. Almost a Zeus lite. I spent my mid-rank life in fear of Spark because I knew it meant my Ricochet was not as effective. Now that I am a high rank, I still instantly recognize Spark, but now my reaction is more like “hey, what’s that M2 guy doing here? Must be an easy kill.” I’ll think that without even checking their equipment. Like I said in an earlier post - that sometimes backfired on me. .
-
Yeah blending in works, but some of the inexpensive cammo paints are even better than green. I also use Metallic and White to blend in against walls. Works surprisingly well, even in crowded maps. But you know what works best? Doing nothing. Staying absolutely still. I have no idea what it is about the human brain which ignores danger if it is not moving. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve let an enemy drive right by me, doing nothing until his interest is taken elsewhere only to attack him from behind.

Finally reached a point where I am eyeballing Viking XT. I never get missions so will have to buy with crystals.

Chill Bro ........................ see what I did there? :D How dare I what? - draw conclusions about your capability based on what paint you wear? Judge a book by it’s cover? Dude, your cover is all I have to go on. Sorry, but I am going to do that anyway, right, wrong, or indifferent. If you come at me as a Legend wearing Green, I’m gonna think you just fell off the turnip truck. Maybe you will kill me, but I’ll still think you’re - well - green. and dude, the entire point of this entire thread is how silly judging players by their paint is. I agree, and moreover admit to being guilty of just that. And for that, I draw hate from you? so like one of my lesser used Buyer paints reads, Chill Bro (now, you know exactly what I did there)
