^beat me to it. I was going to add this - that Fire’s afterburn finishes off enemies for you, while you can simply outlast enemies with Twins while they run out of ammo or wait for reload

Agreed. Although I didn’t say it, I was assuming both tanks are fully drugged. My experience has been that I can mostly ignore Rail when I have the module equipped. I like a good numbers game as much as the next guy, but with these two it’s all about range, not DPS. When you’re in range, attacking with these turrets against unprotected hulls is always a win. Against protected hulls, it’s also usually a win, because they are so good at dealing damage at close RANGE whereas the victim is more often than not a mid or long range turret and cannot hurt you as quickly at close range. .

Sorry, dude, thought this was your equipment.

And just this morning I thought I would be buying more alterations on Halloween sale. Now - gonna be super cautious.
-
What does this look like with XTs equipped?
-
I have the same feeling.

At $39 USD it’s tempting, but I already have Arachnid and last year’s animated Nightmare. I don’t need another scary paint. I really want another crack at the purple Halloween paint from 2016. That one was cute, and I’m kicking myself for missing out on it. .

That Unstable Plasma alteration is not worth it. Losing bounce is a bad trade off for sometimes doing a tiny bit of splash damage. I bought this, used it once, and never equipped it again.

optimus_kirk, braxton_walker, Vampire_Medic I do use Freeze on my main, but I spent M0 through M2 ranks solely using Rico. And you haven’t lived until you’ve played Rico-Titan on the new Sandal. So many corners

Hmm, modules vs turrets... there’s probably room for discussion, maybe a new thread, on the effectiveness of various turrets against their respective modules. Off the top of my head, I feel like Twins and Firebird modules help the least, while Thunder/Rail/Smoky modules basically render those turrets useless. Hammer and Isida modules are up there too - 40%+ protection make it extremely difficult to kill enemy tanks. .
-
Enlightening read. Not sure I’m on board with the ‘every turret is awkward’ concept, but I do see the pattern developing over time of designers giving turrets specific nuances, which prevent each from just being a brick-on-spacebar weapon.

Devs might be making a big mistake tying Overdrives to Hulls. Remember Protections tied to Paints? Saaaaame thing. Overdrives need to be implemented like Modules. Call them Engines or Motors or something. Sell them in the garage and make them Modification-level and MU-able. The company is missing a revenue opportunity here.

I think it is much better now than it was before the change. A buy decision for Rico kinda depends on where you are in the game. My advice is to make Rico the fourth or fifth turret you buy. Fire, Free, and Twins are probably better choices for MM battles, but if you’ve got those, Rico is a strong contender for your next turret.
-
I tend to agree. I thought this was a nerf too, and yes I do notice the distance/damage reduction, but having more ammo in the clip significantly compensates for this. Having Rico ‘run dry’ at the worst possible time annoyed me so much that I gave up on using it at high ranks, but Rico can now actually kill more than 0-1 enemy per spawn in Legend battles. And since I do most of my fighting at closer ranges anyway (i.e. MM maps), Rico may finally be usable at M3/4..
-
I agree. Moreover ALL cooldowns should be shortened in MM battles. Supply cooldowns too!
-
IMO naive topic. Maybe relevant for DM/TDM, but in the other format battles, you’re not always gonna be able to pick who you fight. If the guy with your flag, bringing the assault flag or ball, or holding the point has protections or not, you either attack or go mult.
-
Thank you for finding that. I’d always thought of turrets as short, medium, and long. Now, I’m looking at Rico as an equal to Twins and Hammer. I’ll need to play with the new Rico a bit to be sure but for light and medium hulls, Rico feels inferior to both. Heavy hulls might last long enough for Rico to get the kill. Will have to test.
-
I’m a Rico fan and have logged more hours with this than any other turret. But it’s already weak at M3. It does not need this nerf..
-
Very surprised that they nerf Rico while introducing an XT. Who wants to pay real money to decorate a reduced weapon? Yours truly, a sad Rico fan
-
“We remind you, that Ricochet is supposed to be short range.” Um, Rico is supposed to be medium range. At close range, Rico is useless against the close range turrets Fire, Freeze, and Isida. Does anyone actually agree that Rico is competitive at short range against those three?

Anyone else think we are just gonna see all Dictator Legend battles?

It's more expensive and challenging to maintaing a good garage

Ah, another play-sparingly and buy only on sales thread. I’ve advocated for this approach, but it may be bad advice now. I’ve noticed that playing slowly and setting long term goals has one BIG drawback. Same goes for creating new alts and focusing on a single approach and plan. The game changes. And your long term plans go right out the window. Case in point - Hull Overdrives are about to completely change the game. IMO designers have underestimated the impact this will have on M1 and M2 ranks. M3/M4 ranks will curiously switch to all Dictator format. -
Ricochet XT would probably be the only other XT I would consider buying at the $100USD price point. Even then I will probably pass. That’s just too expensive. Maybe there will be a Black Friday sale on XT Skins. I could go for that.

Equipped Trooper drone on Industrial Zone DM. Did very well, overtaking first place for awhile before losing it due to bad spawn points. Drone has only 5 MUs but it still allowed be to get plenty of quick kills. I did spawn a couple of times with no drugs due to drone cool down, but that’s to be expected on DM. Additional MU steps will help spawned Supplies last longer. I ran out a couple of times just driving around on this map trying to find someone to fight. I used Isida Viking. Might have done better/worse with a heavy hull and mid or long range weapon. There was a Titan Twins doing very well with Plasma Core Accelerators. Need to also experiment with Assault. Not sure if team battle or DM is the way to go with that drone.
