    Luck, Drugs, & Skill

    I don;t know about unskilled...certainly heedless. the situations you describe happen to me all the time and are very frustrating. I use Isida mostly and feel I'm a real Isida, Many times I see Isidas that NEVER heal anyone. I've even cornered them and they don't get the idea...they can only think kill kill kill. I love the guys with OD ready to go that keep getting killed or let the clock run out. And the cluster around the flag base...yikes! Can't win CTF if you don't cap flags. CP is another "play in oblivion" mode...ountless players inches away from the point, firing like crazy...all they have to do is move a tiny bit and the point would start to turn....you can't win CP unless you turn the points. Heedless, and after writing this, maybe you are right, unskilled.
  2. I am already planning to break my mission chain if they actually start the dread MatchMaking. Personally, I think we saw Tanki's MatchMaking this Halloween. I seriously doubt the actual version will be much different other than being much slower to place you in a game. Once in awhile there will be a forced wait until two teams fill up for a new start. Tanki and it's mouthpieces will tout that MM will sort players by some magic algorithm so rank and equipment will be compatible. My bet is eight or nine ranks higher...just like it is now...is compatible by Tanki standards....and the rank brackets might be even farther apart if enough players aren't in queue. In other words MM will just click you into the first available place in any random battle that would have appeared on the UBL...just like it was this Halloween for a couple of days. Right now with the UBL we are starting to get nothing but blowouts in three team modes...CTF being the worst so far (2-0 flags and you already have your winner). I think Tanki may have anticipated this to let MM be the cure. There will still be blowouts, but it won't be from the losing side abandoning ship since MM will keep filling the game with poor unfortunates...it will be a different kind of blowout. Tanki seems to believe a full battle is a good battle...go figure. Anyway, I'm pretty sure MM will be a complete disaster and I am planning on becoming a casual player, choosing a mission to do here and there and playing mostly in Pro-Battles, if I play at all. It is just a shame that Tanki keeps degrading a great game and turning it into just some little flash diversion game that you can kill a few minutes with..

    Annoying Turrets - 2017 Poll

    Another negative point for Magnum wannabes is annoying doesn't necessarily go hand in hand with high scores (the motivation for those ambitious players). In fact, I would guess most Mag players don't do that well in the crystal department. There is a rough learning curve (I can't do anything with the turret myself). And when you do master it it is kind of a slow turret...a wait for the right moment turret. I think the big scores usually go to the active turrets...Rail, Smoky, Rico, Firebird, Twins, Isida. Magnum in the right hands probably gets a great K/D like Shaft players, but you can't spend K/D...it is probably appealing for the glory of decimating your enemies several at a time and being untouched by their puny attempts to kill you. I think it takes a certain type of player to enjoy Mag and I think, like you say, most players don't have the patience to learn to use Mag to an effective level.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

    It is always my priority to kill Magnums...even if they are relatively benign, I kill them as quickly as I can...kinda like cockroaches in real life. If they are MUed or there are too many of them, I just quit the game. I don't mind getting slaughtered by Rico, Thunder, Rail, or even Smoky with it's annoying little pwap pwap pwap from nowhere, but there is no strategy against an OP Mag other than dying or leaving the game.

    Annoying Turrets - 2017 Poll

    For me it is Magnum by FAR. In accomplished hands it is a viable turret and welcome in the game. In MOST hands it is always getting in the way if it is on your team; it has trouble negotiating any kind of obstacle/terrain. It is a generalization, but to me, the Mag players seem to be the least cognizant of their surroundings and other players, the least considerate of other teammates, and in general the rudest players overall. If someone won't let you back up and keeps you in the line of fire, I have noticed, it is almost always a Mag.. The biggest annoyance though is the kamikaze effect. So many of the Magnum players use it as a one kill one death turret. It is frustrating to have a Mag that you are gunning down and they run up with one shot that kills themselves and leaves you dead or crippled...usually just crippled. You take all their damage but don't get credit for the kill even though you really made them die. Over and over again this happens to me with Magnum, they self-destruct as you are about to kill them. Other turrets inflice self damage, but nothing even comes close to killing themselves like Magnum. Once in awhile a Thunder will get too close or hit a wall and blow themsleves up, but you can always tell it is an accident. With many Mag players it seems to be a strategy. In the right hands they are too OP at this point need a nerf badly...which I would guess is coming. Their damage radius is too great. I see a shell flying over head and it kills ya. They hit far away and they killl ya. Magnum has ruined several maps...Silence being one that comes to mind...a Mag or two on the top and it is all over for the team on the bottom. Overall, I think the introduction of Magnum has hurt the quality of Tanki game play so, for me, Magnum is the clear winner of this poll.

    Annoying Turrets - 2017 Poll

    In May of 2016, JK14 created a poll just like this, but Tanki has added a couple of turrets since then and done some major balance changes to all the turrets. Let's see which turret currently holds the dubious honor of being the "Most Annoying Turret". You can only vote for one, even though many may be on your list, so go for the most obnoxious overall, whether you are using it or it is abusing you.

    It would really be a good idea if we started this poll over since two turrets were added to the game...the rocket thing, what's it called?...oh yeah, Striker isn't even a choice. ...OK, I just put up a new poll. I hope the powers that be leave it alone and don't delete it as a duplicate since this poll may very interesting but does not reflect the current turret roster in Tanki.

    Luck, Drugs, & Skill

    It seems to me that as I climb in rank, most of the game-play is based on luck...being at the right place at the right time. Equal-ish rank brackets are a given. It is impossible to beat a hoard of drugging players 8 ranks above you...impossible. Drugs are pretty much a given now too. If you don't drug, you don't stand much of a chance. It has made the game difficult to do much more than just punch the keypad....actual battling is almost secondary. I just finished a DM (I really am beginning to hate DM)...I came in 1st and had the highest K/D, yeah, I used 3 rep kits. The messed up part about this is I never was alive more than a couple of seconds...take that in....2 or 3 seconds! How can you strategize in 2 or 3 seconds? Tanki is Agar.io now that mass drugging is here. I want to drive around, hide, attack, use the terrain, try new creative strategies, but Neo-Tanki only lets me press 3, 2, 1 with a 4 or 5 thrown in for spice. The battles are WAY TOO FULL all the time. Previously you could join a match with a few players or find a match that was packed...there was CHOICE in the style you played. Now it is just chock-a-block all the time in every match, in all modes. It is fun to play in full matches, but NOT ALL THE TIME. The full matches promote drugging. The choke amount of drugs given as Mission Chain rewards promote drugging. Skill is now, pretty much at the bottom of the list for playing Tanki. Being skilled with your equipment gives you a slight edge, but I don't think it is anywhere near as critical as drugging, brackets, or just dumb luck. It certainly doesn't matter as much as it used to before the UBL and the Summer/Autumn big chain payouts. Now, luck seems to be playing a larger roll in how you fare in battle. If you spawn close to a DA or DD box, you have a definite advantage since you can click its companion supply and have both DA and DD instantly...add a speed in a moment and you are a killing machine. If you happen to be around a group of players you win, if they are a few nano-seconds away, you will probably lose as your supplies dissipate. Luck has always played a roll in the game, but it now seems to be much more crutial as the mass drugging becomes the norm. And please, everyone knows a player has the option of playing Pro-Battles...OK, sure, but we all (vast majority at least) do our daily missions and they must be played in Regular Battles. I believe that playing habits from regular battles bleed over into ProBattles...the more we are acclimated to heavy drugging in regular battles the more drug use goes up in ProBattles. Tanki may sell more drug kits here and there but at the expense of quality game-play. If the quality of game-play continues to spiral downward, this will impact the amount of active players even more than the exodus we have already seen. At some point the few extra supply kits that are sold are over shadowed by the loss of players. Volume is what is usually relied upon to generate income and Tanki keeps losing volume. As the player base lessens, they must generate more income from fewer players. This may have actually worked and may be working still...we have no way of knowing without seeing Tanki's accounting. But I firmly believe that even if it is working now, it is a short sighted fix and will eventually implode leaving the game with a player base that is too small to be viable. Tanki's current approach is a one way trip...there is no turning it around even if you try to grow the game organically. New players will not be attracted to a flash game with a small player base regardless of advertising. I digress, I am just sad that Tanki has been so compromised and has lost so much of what made it appealing originally. I really believe that skill is what built Tanki. Equipment acquisition was the cash engine that kept them afloat. The drug emphasis and the homogenization of the turrets and hulls has made luck a more important factor in game-play than skill. I forgot, just before this last rage inducing battle, in the previous battle, I could see the gold box centered on me...dead center of my tank and on the ground, but lag wouldn't let me actually pick it up...grrrrrrrrr I'm terrible at gold boxes so it wasn't as bad as spending all those drugs for NOTHING in this latest &%&%^!@ DM battle.

    DM 75 kills, 5 rep kits, countless Double Damage and a few DA...and 1 minute

    In a DM match, I was #1 by far with 75 kills...#2 was only 22 or 23. I was going to get almost the entire battle fund...a real crystal coup. I was playing in Halloween mode and drugging like cRaZY...hitting those 3s and 2s asap with a 1 whenever I was about to die...I think I only lost 3 maybe 4 times. I probably spent the equivalent of 1200 to 1500 crystals on drugs...and the battle fund would have justified it. I was playing like a big buyer. The game lag stopped and the screen went dark...you know, spinning turrets then the zip screen. I refreshed and logged back in as soon as I could and the battle was still going, but I was not in it....gone....zip...tootles loser. I joined for the last minute anyway to whine in chat. It is so frustrating to have stuff like this happen...it happens so frequently. I'm sure it happens to all of us, but it seems like there should be some way to combat these sorts of problems...some sort of fail-safe that retains your score or something if you are inadvertently disconnected when the server crashes. Got any horror stories of your own? Crashes at the wrong time...lag mishaps...any sort of trauma from system malfunction?

    My strategy at this point is pretty much what others have said. the only thing I would like to add, is go light on the up grading in my opinion. Save enough crystals to buy an appealing M3 kit as SOON as you rank up to that kits minimum rank. Raiden or Man-o-war would be good M3 kits since you like Thunder. But the trick is to get a kit the second you reach its minimum rank. Or if you buy a kit with real money, kinda the same thing, buy one the instant you reach a minimum rank...pricey though.

    Halloween 2017

    Well, I for one am very happy MatchMaking 2.0 is over. I do wish I had known it would be rescinded before I had to slug my way through dozens of DM Halloween battles playing against drug crazed tankers 8 ranks higher than me trying to use up all their hoarded drug stockpile (seemingly on me). My K/D has been decimated, but at least I got my little stash of gold boxes (fun). I feel better about Tanki today and not ready to throw in the towel like yesterday. If having the battle filters usable only one at a time helps with lag or server overload, why haven't they done this before?!!!?? Lag has always been a problem and the battle filter works fine with only one mode showing at a time. Actually, I like it better like this and hope they leave it this way. There is almost no advantage in seeing all the modes at once.. It is a minuscule price to pay for less lag. It makes one wonder if there are other things that could be easily done to smooth out the rough edges of the game. One poster suggested getting rid of the silly little "suggestion" screens that pop up while you wait to enter a battle...you know, "if your tank is flipped over press delete", "Paints can be used to change the appearance of your tank...to blend in or stand out", etc. And there may be more littel things that might help real problems in the game...maybe many more. I wish the developers would spend more time trying to improve the functionality of the game and WAY less time trying to "develop" the game (develop being synonymous with thrash and ruin in this particular case).

    Halloween 2017

    I just finished 3000xp on the Halloween map with Isida. NOT FUN. Not a celebration and I will NEVER bother again. This years Halloween map is terrible. No jumps, no place to hide (well kinda behind one shack)...it is just a dark bowl where projectile weapons can shred you. The rank limits are still ridiculous....how is it even possible to beat a player 8 ranks higher than you; M2 vs M4? Shame on you Tanki for such an atrocious holiday offering...lazy, inconsiderate, and poorly executed. EVERY THING YOU DO seems to be in the face of players...you seem to be able to get NOTHING right.

    No you can't "easily choose to play pro battles"...not if you want ot complete missions. And a player needs the mission chain to even attempt to be competitive. We are economically forced to complete daily missions to buy equipment, kits, upgrades, pro-passes, and now drugs...you know this so why spin party propaganda like "well just play pro battles then"...get real. And I know exactly what you mean by waits...we experienced it on the MM trial...wait and wait and wait to get placed in some random slaughter battle, 80% of the time on the losing side of a blowout with half of the battle completed already. Match making my eye. I will even go as far as to make a wager that what is in place temporarily for Halloween will turn out to be superior to what Tanki will become after MM is implemented. And what we have now is awful...MM will most likely be worse based on Tanki developers track record so far.

    I can't compete against M4 equipment; 7 and 8 ranks higher than me. Three complete battles and I still don't have my 250xp daily mission complete. Not that KD really matters, but today has been like 5 or 6 deaths to each kill. I am a decent player, but how can I win against drug crazed M4 equipment? You shoot the crap out of someone then they hit repair...then some Magnum blows both of you to pixel dust. You get killed more than half of the time as soon as you re-spawn...not even enough time to get a single shot in much less aim....spawn, die, spawn, die, spawn, die. I bet I never lasted more than three seconds...maybe even two seconds. Gold boxes...IMPOSSIBLE with so many higher ranked players. Welcome to MatchMaking...it's the end of Tanki for me if the official MM is even remotely like this. I think very few players want to be nothing but cannon fodder. Man,some Haloween celebration... Let us do missions in Pro Battles if your servers can't take the load....not this stupid NO CHOICE, click a button for some random battle junk.
  20. I dislike Magnum and think it is impacting the game negatively. Many (not all) Magnum players use the turret as kamikazes. It is irritating to have a Magnum under fire with an assured kill, but then he shoots and blows himself up. You get nothing except some damage....sure, he gets a self-destruct, but you lose health, time, and possible a life. Other turrets have self damage and they self-destruct once in awhile as they try to defend themselves, but with Magnum it is a constant problem...a much higher percentage of self-destruct while under attack. A good sized nerf would help, but it would still leave the self-destruct situation. All in all an un-fun turret in the game and another straw on the camel's back. In my opinion Magnum makes Tanki less fun to play.

    Tanki Locks controversial topics...look at all the "closed" Halloween topics

    I made a topic about the current situation being like Matchmaking...I don't believe MM will work any better than the current Halloween debacle and Tanki's "fix" for it. Anyway, the topic was closed in about five minutes. Then I noticed there are a few more topics that were opened about Halloween and most (maybe all, I didn't really study it) got closed before any real number of tankers could read or comment on them. Censorship by closing topics before they have a chance to be noticed. The Party has the last word (like a rebuttal) then "closed topic" I thought this was supposed to be an open forum...guess not.

    MATCHMAKING IS HERE! This is what MM will really be...nice huh? Anyway, Tanki....since it is a holiday and we are supposed to be celebrating instead of being punished for being loyal (addicted) Tanki players, why not open Daily Missions in Pro-Battles again...at least till the end of Halloween? You will sell a bunch of Pro Passes and folks can have some fun instead of beating their pixel heads against the wall as they try to complete daily missions Matchmaking style against ranks 5,6,7,8....12 ranks higher than they are. Give us a choice for a lousy week...you know, trick or treat...how about a treat instead of a trick? You hyped Halloween, give us something better rather than something worse. (you could even give everyone pro-passes for the duration of Halloween, but that would be too benevolent I guess) Open Pro Battles to Daily Missions....don't force MatchMaking on us.

Just like this is now. No choice of map. No choice of rank brackets. No choice of team. No choice of ahead or behind in the battle. No choice. No choice. Push the CTF, DM, CP, or TDM button and ENJOY! We at Tanki are making it simple for the poor poor multitude of players that can't figure out how to join a battle...and we are making it FASTER to join battles...no bother with having to choose options like maps or teams (such a nuisance!), just Agar.io in and start battling! We know what you REALLY want despite the drivel on the forum that a few misguided malcontents write. We know the best way for you to play Tanki.

We at Tanki are making it simple for the poor poor multitude of players that can't figure out how to join a battle...and we are making it FASTER to join battles...no bother with having to choose options, just Agar.io in and start battling! We know what you REALLY want despite the drivel on the forum that a few misguided malcontents write.
