Vulcan is decent with Mammoth.. very stable platform and lots of health to withstand enemy counter-fire as you need to fire for at least a few seconds to be effective. Often in defensive roll near flag or RGY cap-points. OD can make a diff as enemies try to cap.

Don't see nearly as many strikers as shaft, and even though Gauss is new - I see more of those than strikers as well. Striker needs something... in MM with very fast tanks lock-on is used rarely. Needs one of... - shorter lock-on time - more transparent laser - faster missiles Isn't Shaft laser invisible for first second or so as it charges up?

It plays onscreen a lot like Tanki-X. Was not a fan of that - don't like current version of TO-HTML5. My default browser when clicking HTML link is Chrome. I adjust ZOOM to 90% and it reveals more of the screen. Not sure why it's needed...

Express your blind absolute rage of the overpowered Hunter Tank
wolverine848 replied to simpleone in Archive
If you are hoping a nearby wall will save you from Viking OD - that's a pipe-dream - 9/10 times you don't make it there. And hoping your opponent does not know how to play is a fools errand. Even at Brigadier level players know to save the OD until 1) They have a flank or 2) there's multiple targets in sight or 3 ) Both. Not what I've observed. There are as many Dictators and Hornets as there are Hunters. Probably as many wasps (in mid ranks) and Titans (in upper ranks) as there are Hunters. What? There are hornet-rails on each team in every battle I play in. Maybe fewer in maps like Sandal - but then there's swarms of them in the wider open maps. I do like Diesel's suggestion that supply cooldown be reduced to 15 seconds so long as the Hunter OD actually disables ALL of the ODs in range - not just some of them. -

Maybe an alt account for this player ... #4850... http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=281046&page=243 It's easier to complain than to find an alternate strategy I guess... -
Valid Indication that you're being locked on by Gauss (besides the Fox ears)

1) certain maps and certain battle-modes you have high chances of getting 2+ tanks together and that's where splash damage shines. Is not as "effective" on all maps of course. 2) This is my bad - for some reason I thought you could not move your turret & hull at same time while going into sniper mode. Just tested it and you can - a difficult thing - but it's possible. As for the 2 seconds... just finished a battle where I was killed a number of times toward the end of that 2 second delay. Any non-lock-on turret might have avoided the damage I took.- 106 replies

Run? 1) If they are smart they attack from flank which you can't see. 2) How fast do you think these tanks can move. If you are dead in 1-2 seconds how far you think you will get? I play MM a lot, have Hunter on 2 accounts, and get killed by Hunters in battles. It is balanced. I actually started with Hunter on my alt account and then bought a Dictator of same m-level because with many turrets Dictator is way better. If Hunter was as great as you make it out to be I would not have resorted to buying 2 m-2 medium hulls. Now let's discuss how it's impossible to out-run a Rail-Hornet LCR one-shot (regardless of how protected you are) shall we? If we are "being honest"... -

How? Hitting RK as it shoots you multiple times in 1 second is a waste of an RK. Good luck with Rail, Thunder, Striker, Hammer... any turret that does a decent amount of damage per shot. Dead in 1 second. Well a Rail hornet has penetration so... And I've seen Viking Hammer and Viking Thunder take out multiple enemies within 2 seconds. Wasp... no need to elaborate there... Not surprised you start with insults. Not the first time you've posted this way. I've seen Viking activate it's OD when your two flag carriers arrive at same time... both dead and flags gone back. Or Titan sitting on the cap-point activate Dome - now flag carries have to hide for 20 seconds... Issue isn't Hunter - it's the rule TO has chosen for ASL - the flag goes back instantly. Any tank can do this. I've been stunned by Hunter many times as I played... lost the flag.. could not cap... died. Difference is I don't complain about it. I continue on in the battle and use new tactics. I suggest you do the same. -

Of course self-damage would be removed. But the amount of self-deaths pales compared to damage done to enemies that die as a result of splash damage if used properly. Else you'd see a lot more of the alteration than we do. I can't see how you could deny that scoring would drop as a result of a nerf to splash damage. We are not talking about a short-ranger like twins which really can benefit from no splash. Why use arcade? When sitting still for 2 seconds is too much of a danger. When you need to move and shoot - you can't snipe, move and turn your turret at the same time. Does not function. Arcade gets used a lot when enemies are in close proximity. Just like Shaft (not including RFM).- 106 replies

Valid Indication that you're being locked on by Gauss (besides the Fox ears)

1) No excuses - there are always ppl complaining something is OP. Every single item in TO has had a thread about it being OP... 2) If you can't damage enemies near surfaces, or damage or kill multiple enemies with splash, won't the number of kills go down? Won't that turrets score be decreased compared to the score it was receiving while splash was there? Isn't score reflective of "effectiveness" to at least some degree? It seems you would like Gauss to hit targets less often. I don't believe that is the right way to go. It will become more like striker - hardly ever uses the lock-on. How many strikers you see in battles, compared to other turrets. Be honest here... So I disagree - and feel the first step is reducing the splash area some, and also reducing the % damage that goes to the outer fringes of that area. There will be less total damage dealt, and fewer double/triple/quad(never had one) kills. An alternative is to remove Splash entirely from snipe and boost it a bit on arcade. And this kinda makes sense... the arcade would be more like an high-explosive shell that has area effect but does not do severe damage to any single target. While snipe shot would be an AP one that does significant damage to ONE target, but no area effect.- 106 replies

You minimize the effects of all ODs but Hunter, and then boost Hunter's affect on the battle to strengthen your argument. <_< Let me ask you this... if a Viking or Hornet with OD activated have an easy time killing the flag carrier in ASL - what happens to that flag? -

In your opinion. You are concentrating solely on on one aspect that bothers you. The splash bothers many others. If Thunder had splash damage removed entirely, would it's effectiveness in the game drop?- 106 replies

As opposed to getting one-shotted by a Rail with DD from much, much farther away? And that same Rail can do it again when you re-spawn. Sounds completely balanced - right? Or a Viking-(ranged-turret) that makes it's way to your base from the flank, and kills 4 enemies in 7 seconds, including a Hunter with all supplies on. Can do this for all Over-Drives. it isn't Hunter OD that's OP - It's the ODs in general that are OP. -

A lot of it's score comes from dealing lots of damage and killing secondary enemies through a large splash radius. So how can you honestly say that nerfing the splash effects will not affect it's "effectiveness"?- 106 replies

You are correct about the rewards. But Pro-battles are not much different in that aspect. Losing team in PB still gets squat...
-
What do you mean? You could play non-League battles... One of the main reasons I stopped playing TX was their ranking-system. A punitive system does instill loyalty in the masses. And look at the result...
-
The key was "... is hard to increase yet easy to lose". They were being literal - you can actually go backwards in the ranking in TX. Get stuck on a bunch of bad teams and soon you are playing in the penny-League.
-
Um... isn't that what Magnums are for? ESPECIALLY on broken maps like Noise? What an odd thing to say... <_<
-
And thus our feedback... hopefully they take at least some of it into account. But I'm not gonna hold my breath on that.
-
Let me guess... your most used turret is Rail and... you drive a light hull... amirite?
-
But not for the better. It really feels like when I played TX - which is a downgrade as far as I'm concerned. The Camera and tank movement needs a LOT of work. If what I see now is the future - looks like I will have a lot more free time.
-
So far ... not liking it. Tank movement feels clunky and cant get comfortable with camera angle. Borrowed TOO much from TX Also - in the garage my damage and hull value should reflect the bonus when a drone is equipped.

Best alteration for your turret: YouTubers vs Tanki Forumers
wolverine848 replied to Zekrom in Archive
Was "Stock" one of the options? For some turrets like Isida (which really has crappy alterations) and Vulcan, stock is much better in most situations -
Sounds a lot like what TX had for tank movement and camera angles. Tanks were bouncy and Camera too close to the tank. I hope it's actually not that close to TX because I found that terrible - was horrible to play in.
