Oh... you were speaking to system in general as opposed to it being a reply to... say... rank-spread mentioned by Iron_Man...
-
At least rail can pop back behind it's hiding place IF it misses. Vulcan does not have that luxury - must sit in the open in order to actually do anything. Gyroscope? You haven't played Vulcan much lately, have you... they nerfed that a while ago - it's negligible at best.
-
Could you clarify what you think is "somewhat beneficial"?
-
Why does it need a bigger learning curve? Rail has a 1-second delay - is that not a "skilled" turret? (Same delay Vulcan used to have) Good luck keeping distance on Sandal, or Iran, or Industrial Zone. Side note - why was Sandal added to MM battles - with 16 tanks it is just too small. There are many maps better suited to MM. EDIT: 1 battle? Yeah - I've played > 12 battles with "new" Vulcan, on different maps. Useless on a lot of those maps and might as well just exit when placed there.
-
The ~ 3 second spin-up delay just cripples Vulcan against enemies that have any cover or any speed at all. They are "in it's face" before 1 bullet leaves the gun - has no time to soften them up as they approach. Once in close-quarters Vulcan is very vulnerable. The Devs with this last update have reduced the flexibility of Vulcan use by a lot.

With new module system, over time every player will have ability to equip protection against the weapons of their choice. There's a reason players equip a specific module, and that reason is NOT because that turret is weak. Trying to balance turrets based on frequency of modules equipped is a fools errand. Turret "balance" or "power" needs to stand on it's own.

I'm thinking that is an alt, but I can't decide on whose alt... <_<

You just made my case stronger - Thanks! B)

It is a nerf. So your solution is to just start spinning up at random intervals in the off chance a target appears? Have you used it yet? On a map that provides lots of cover? Older Vulcan you could at least whittle them down a peg. Now, the enemies are on you before you can fire the first bullet. Then the slower rotation kicks in and you can't track them. They circle and kill the vulcan - sometime before the Vulcan can deal any damage. All they had to do was lower the overheating rate/damage - major problem solved. Instead they changed the turret completely and made it a completely different weapon. And a less useful one to boot.
-
That circling freeze must have been a complete noob - no way a freeze can't circle and kill a vulcan after these updates... Try using it in Iran, or Sandal, or any map that has short distances between cover. You have to spin up every3-4 seconds or you will never hit a target as they disappear before your bullets fly. This then reduces your firing time and lets anyone with sound know what you are doing. They've made this turret useless on many maps - and that is contrary to what Match-Maker is about - dumping you on random maps where every combo should be fine.
-
But - they are each worth 300 crystals. ;) :D
-
Yikes! For me it's the exact opposite. Between the 3 second spin-up and the slower rotation Vulcan does not stand a chance. Enemies close the distance before you even fire 1 bullet and it's game over. Why did they do this? All they had to do was reduce that ridiculous overheating that carried over from Firebird afterburn update. That's it. But now, Vulcan's have to spin their barrels every 5 seconds on the off-chance an enemy pops it's head out. It has 3x the delay of Rail without the instant high damage. I can't imagine anyone trying Vulcan in DM. (edit - try using one in mid-ranks ~ Major where your Vulcan is not top-dog. Different world my friend)
-
I do - but - 3 seconds is 3x longer than u need to do that for Rail. Unless you are playing a complete noob they are not sitting there for 3 seconds. :D  Just played some more CTF on different maps. Vulcan is terrible. Absolute garbage.
-
Apparently it is tied to what you have equipped (including rare paints  ). Try equipping and un-equipping some of your most rare paints and see if that score changes.
-
How are batteries helpful if you don't have a drone? I have more speed-boosts than I can ever use so... yeah, getting even more will be just dandy. Are you just trolling? After reading some of your posts in different topics - I gotta ask - are you a shill for TO?
-
Who the heck is looking up at the sky while fighting a battle? No one is saying it is instant kill. it's the fact that... - you can't hide from the shots as the game does not provide that kind of cover. - the splash radius is too large - Magnum can damage/kill without exposing itself to any danger at all Magnum may not kill all flag defenders, but 1 or 2 of them can soften up defenders so much that incoming runners can quickly finish them off then steal the flag as they respawn. And smart Magnum users will have a way to bypass defenders only defense - the Protection Modules. Slap Magnum on a hornet and wait for overDrive... There is no defending this turret in a game that was not designed for Indirect Fire Weapons.
-
So... I'm not the only "special" one? I sense a ban/block coming soon...
-
It's garbage. Was already useful on large maps with "weak" damage of 50%. Now it is completely useless up close with slower rotation and the fact that most enemies will be right on top of you before it actually starts to shoot.
-
They've had more than 24 hrs to fix Magnum and Striker. Just sayin'...
-
Not just any paint though... likely be a WORLD CUP paint ;) :D
-
Don't think the comparison is on the mechanism, which is quite different for both. I think it is supposed to be a comparison of effectiveness in battles - both are medium-to-long range turrets.
-
The slower spin-up speed outweighs everything else they did to it. Think Rail delay - now multiply that by 3 or 4 - but without the instant high damage. All enemies have to do is rush the Vulcan - and the slow spin-up speed ensures they arrive undamaged.
-
What makes you Mad in Tanki? Things you hate/like in the game?
wolverine848 replied to Ditzy-Dip in Archive
The inability of Devs to properly test updates before rolling them out. And their infatuation with balancing items in the game, but never achieving the balance they supposedly strive for. -
They did a "fake-buff" on Vulcan by increasing it's damage. But the spin-up takes so long, the increased damage never gets applied because the Vulcan is dead or the target hidden or the target dead by someone else. It's almost like trying to use salvo with Striker. How often you see that happen in battles?
-
Vulcan now is terrible - takes so long to fire it is pointless. 3+ seconds? ridiculous. It's almost as though the Devs don't even understand the concept of testing. OR maybe they do <_< They just want us to spend 100k/50k crystals on the alteration.
