How does seeing lots of Vikings in upper ranks affect you?
-
Smoky and Ricco are too similar. Ricco better overall so if you are planning Ricco/Viking buy Thunder as a secondary turret for camping and/or long distances. The 50% weak damage is much better than Smoky 10% weak damage.

Hmmm... quotes wrong post.

Nope. The game was not designed for - a weapon that can strike any enemy on the map without being seen. Only counter is another magnum. That's poor design. Many counters to all the other turrets. When the "player with Overdrive" refuses to use it even though enemies are storming base and basically winning it's not the "spoiled child" asking for that person to activate that is problem. Problem is playing with Gismos who don't understand how to use it (by this time???) or those selfish noobs that are saving it for a gold drop. Saving it in team battle for a gold drop that might happen and that they have a 1-in-20 chance of getting. S-E-L-F-I-S-H. By not using the OD when available they are hurting their team. These noobs should stick to DM since they don't understand the concept of team play.

Almost every game in upper ranks this weekend were blow-outs.. 6-0, 7-0, 8-0 and 9-0. Each of those winning teams had AT LEAST 3 Magnums. And in most cases each Magnum had an isida attached to it's bottom. The game is getting B-O-R-I-N-G.

Mammoth-Isida? :P :D   Riddler? When matchmaking comes back you will NOT be able to select maps to do normal battles = missions. You will select battle mode CTF/TDM/DM/CP and system will place you in a battle that currently has open spots, or select a random map for you to start a new battle. You will only be able to select maps from battle list to do Custom battles = NO misions. If you just stick with one turret to M4, you will be at mercy of anyone with the M3 module protecting against your turret. M3 - M4 is ~ +13% dmg. A stock M3 module gives 35% minimum protection. Many have 45-50% protection. +13% vs inability to swap away from 40-50% protection does not sound good to me. Pick 1-2 hulls and 1-2 turrets per m-level. Get a feel for the diff items. Gives flexibility and experience. Then decide on your goal for first M3 - either a turret/hull on sale at unlock, or a kit to get early unlock. Upgrade that a bit but before you go gung-ho on MUs then make sure you have... 1) another combo due to reasons above 2) Some protection modules - you wont survive upper ranks without them.

Yeah - I know how Thunder works. I also know it can't shoot through a wall/building it is hiding behind. Nor can it shoot over that wall. It needs to come out from behind that hiding spot to take the shot. At that point it is exposed to return fire. Magnum on the other hand... can stay safely hidden behind a building - in it's own base - and lob a shot over that wall Thunder is currently hiding behind. May not get a direct hit, but the Thunder is taking damage. See the difference?

I agree. 1. True - but you are helpless when you are up against those protections - nothing in garage to switch to. 2. When match-making comes back you will not get to choose maps. So it will be frustrating to end up in an undesired map (based on turret) and need to exit and try again. Ricco is versatile and can hold it's own. Isida is good at getting scores (but in team games you need mates to not die in one shot - else no healing)

DPS? what? Pro ... what? Has nothing to do with the discussion. Splash damage? A Thunder or Striker can't damage the magnum hiding in it's base behind a house. They have to expose themselves in order to make a shot. Ricco has a limited ability to hit unseen targets. But good luck finding one that can hit a magnum hiding behind a house in it's base on maps like Serpuhov. The Ricco has to leave it's own base to make the attempt and is thus now a target. You are completely ignoring that Magnum can conduct it's business from the secure area of it's base without ever exposing itself to danger. No other turret can do this, and the maps were never designed for that. Actually - strike that - it seems the revised maps are even more magnum-friendly. That silly platform on Industrial Zone now has a pill-box on top. Might as well call it the Magnum Bunker. Random comments? I think you meant to say "experience from other tankers". amirite? Sure you think Magnum is fine. Who wants to nerf their own turret?
-
You are going to want more than 1 combo in your garage. If you only have 1 turret and run into someone with 35%+ protection you are baked. Plus not all turrets run at same efficiency on all maps. So 1 turret = limited playability. Plus somewhat boring.

Freeze is awesome on large-map CTF battles. Most enemy tanks are using ranged-turret modules because of the many shafts/rails/thunders. So they are stuck (pun intended) when my freeze ambushes them as they try to escape with the flag. Similar to Isida, Speed is the best power-up as it allows you to close the distance quickly.
-
I see what you did there... ;)
-
Where to start... Hammer has to be close to target in order to one-shot - and it needs DD to one-shot any hull - even light. All the ranged turrets (rail shaft) have to come out from cover in order to hit a target. They can be fired upon and killed. Unlike magnum which can do all it's damage from the safety of it's protected base.
-
It's true the % chance drops away after a critical. In your example are you assuming the current target is dead after getting the critical? If target still alive keep firing and damaging enemy. If target dead, not sure if shots in air count toward erasing the drop-off on crit chances. It might be only shots on target that change the outcome.

Interesting. (and I think you meant "bettering Dictator by weight and power" since Hunter not even close to Titan in that respect). I played Viking a lot before the "rebalance". It was a great, stable platform that allowed ranged weapons to target enemies even while being hit. Especially good with smoky. Then they switched the Hunter and Viking Characteristics. Now my Viking is faster, but much less stable. it is like a lower, flatter Hornet with less speed. So I have opposite opinion from yourself - I'd rather have Hunter - which is now what the "old" Viking was.

Bought the Blizzard kit on my lower account. It freezes everything. Light, medium, heavy - EVERYTHING. Has one MU on it. If I ever approach enemy from side (or even better) behind they are done. None of them had a chance to turn around or respond. Of course there's not a lot of protections ~ W01 ranks, but it currently wreaks havoc on enemy. If I hide near the flag it would take a 2 or 3 : 1 ratio for enemy to have half a chance to escape with flag. Did an Osa CTF and we won 9-0. I think I killed 38 enemies that tried to take the flag. I knew the turret would be decent, but I am surprised by how effective it is. And this is my first time ever using it.

So I click on Battle-List and see the battles. But it won't let me enter any of the battles I see - even though they still have room. What gives????
-
Sure - but then a rail peaks out from that far corner and does a wack of damage. On the edge like that you often become a beacon - a target for the squatters. I also find more lag on this map. Just not for me - like a few other maps.
-
I was the first one - have always hated that map. It's a driving nightmare - Viking does not navigate well on that map.
-
Hey buddy - "get bent".

I was surprised to learn that upgrading on 50/70 sale with speedups is more expensive than no sale at all. So instead of "stacking" the crystals, keep MU-ing as soon as current MU is finished. Doing just one MU on a sale day will save quite a few crystals in the later stages. And you get to realize a (small) improvement earlier than waiting for a sale.
-
So you basically have M3s - but technically not. So even by time you can buy the kit they will not be M3. Even if you get a discount on a kit (I don't think you do) for having the m3 in garage, you won't really have the m3 in garage - you can't convert until later rank. Think about a kit with something you don't have, that maybe you'd like, and has a decent Prot Module. Healer seems to have things you don't have so is viable. Getting a kit with Heavy hull for smaller maps might also be considered.
-
Yup - I play Bridges with Smky-Titan (with Impact Alt). So many light tanks coming up those ramps to flip.
-
Upgrading an M3 all the way to M4 by General? Doubt you'd see enough sales on MUs in that time and speed-ups should never be considered. You better check double-check on the garage & kit relationship. My understanding is if you have a turret in garage and buy a kit with same turret you DO NOT save the crystals on that turret. The Rail is 10/10 and smoky 9/10? What are the wasp & viking at?
-
Magnum users will of course pick something else. If they are smart they'd all pick the next closest "annoying" turret so it does not look as bad in comparison. Close the "gap". ;)
