To me, stuff like this is more painful to read than Tanki's blathering horse pucky.
-
sry...just trying to figure out how to include a link to a post

I just don't think Tanki should be thanked for the bamboozle and we shouldn't be grateful for being manipulated. I was just surprised that you seem to have been taken in by their scam and I thought that possibly you were being sarcastic. Normally you seem like a very insightful poster.

I mean, "I hope you are being sarcastic and not naive" .

OMG, OMG...get me my waders, it is getting deep in here...

Does no one else smell a rat? Maybe I'm just too paranoid but this all smacks of "false flag". Tanki's main concern is, and has been for years, bottom line....making money. So they take something that makes them money (alterations) and have them only available in containers....basically free but difficult to obtain. But still a rather significant loss of Tanki income since no one can buy alterations anymore...at all. We players don't question idiotic updates because we have seen so many idiotic updates, but we complain like we always do when there is an idiotic update. Did Tanki know we would complain? Sure they did!...and they were counting on it. So a few days after the update they basically remove the unpopular update...days only (hours really). Do they EVER do this? No they don't. So being the sympathetic and concerned company Tanki has shown itself to be in the past, they reverse and update and let us buy alterations again. Wait, but at an outrageously increased price. Oh yeah, don't forget the couple of days notice where it was recommend that you buy up all the alts you could because it would be your last chance (ya think they sold a few alts that way ...hummmm?) So now the sting of alts increasing astronomically in price is mitigated because at least players (or buyers really) can buy them again. And many on this very forum are praising Tanki for "listening" to feedback....ahaahaaahaaaaaaaa! It's patently obvious to me that Tanki NEVER intended to lose income from alts in containers only. This was a ruse designed only to pave the way for an outrageous price increase. ....And we're thanking them for it! ahahaaahhahaahahaaahaaaahaaaaaa!

It's the adjustments made to the maps to accommodate the devs ideas of what an MM map should be that made them bland and boring. It's also the lack of choice forced by MM that makes it necessary to bail out of battles so often...and these are just 6.5 minute battles. Imagine the attrition in each battle if battles were 15 minutes! If you could choose the map you wanted there would be fuller more consistent battles. Massacre, Highways,, all of them have their place when you have the right equipment. Sure we can change equipment in a battle, but battles are so short it's better just to leave. Even if you get the full battle 6:30 seconds, and you decide to change equipment (-5 seconds), you rush to change in HTML (click G & wait -15 seconds)(click 2 turret/hull/protection -10 seconds)(click back to battle -20 seconds)(self-destruct -5)(re-spawn -2 seconds). Now you have about five and a half minutes left to fight and your team has been down at least one player with your absence. In my experience it is harder to get 2 or 3 stars at this point and your team usually loses so BF is lower. It much easier just to quit as soon as you spawn into an "unfit" (for your equipment) map. I used to thrive on wreaking havoc with shafts on Highways. Archipelago is fun when everyone has Firebird or Freeze unless you happen to be the only Smoky. All the maps are OK if you are equipped. If you are not geared towards the map, everyone just quits. The problem is MM and has been the problem since it's inception. No choice of map, no choice of team, short battles on diluted homogenized maps. MM is, an has been, awful and the cause of tens of thousands of players to leave the game.

I want to be able to access my missions and mission progress while in a battle just like you can in Flash. Why purposely omit features in HTML that are in Flash? If Tanki wants to make HTML as good as Flash, make it like Flash not a new version of Tanki...just common sense.
-
I never used to leave battles early, but with HTML I keep quitting battles to check how my missions are coming along. It's sooooo very annoying not having a way to check mission status from within a battle on HTML.

I agree with you and think you have analyzed the dev's intent very accurately and succinctly in regards to this last update. BUT, I believe their logic is off, way off. I don't know "whale" mentality, but it seems like there just couldn't be too many people in Tanki's entire payer base willing to buy container after container just to get the augment they want. True, those that do buy tons of containers get lots of other stuff as well, but can the hope of getting that/those perfect augments actually increase sales of containers by much...I doubt it...maybe very small amount at best. As far as BP/XP players go, what the devs have done is a really poorly conceived idea based in a disconnectedness to the game and a reality rooted in abject greed. What you say is true,,,the devs think that by applying pressure to the BP/XP crowd they will coerce them into playing MM battles more. I think they will just drive the BP/XP players away from the game. I think they will lose more player base in the exodus of BP/XP than they will make up for in BP/XP playing more MM. The BP/XP crowd was already kind of negative on MM, that's one reason why they thrived in BP/XP. Take the income earning out of BP/XP and now a large portion of the player base can't keep up with equipment upgrades...they quit the game. The devs think that doesn't really matter since the BP/XP players weren't contributing to the bottom line anyway, but the player base shrinks even further. The BP/XP players still probably played some MM battles to generate more income, but many of those players will now be leaving the game. I really don't know the gaming industry but from what I've witnessed as a consumer, AP/Tanki is far from the only company to take advantage of their player base and take their player base for granted. That being said, in every business model I do know or have studied, taking care of your customer is of paramount importance. The customer is king. The customer is always right. Most businesses fall all over themselves trying to keep customers and tying to keep their company's reputation in high regard. This customer/company relationship has gone on since commerce began. I really doubt that online gaming is any different...they are just behind the curve because the industry is still in it infancy...and Tanki is way behind many of the others that are behind the curve.

All 4 were classed as rare and hulls, but the augments are only classified as rare or epic, so in reality, they are common . Totally useless just like the shot effects unless you happen to get lucky and actually use the hull or turret. i will never use these augments because I will never use the hulls...I don't even own the hulls....well, OK one was for Titan, but i don't use Titan.
-
I have opened several containers since the augment update. I've gotten four absolutely worthless (to me) augments already. Besides preventing players from buying the augments they actually want, this update has heavily diluted the value of containers...or at least the chance of getting something good in a container. Along with the soccer paints, a gazillion other paints, mines, DA, batteries (for me), and other disappointing, mostly worthless container content, now there is another 117 items weakening the odds of getting something you really need or want. So this is a double whammy crap update. From the Wiki: A total of one hundred seventeen augments are currently in the game, fifty-three of which are for turrets and sixty-four for hulls.

I inquired about this last year and got the brush off. They are not interested in selling the game and I'm not interested in AP as a whole.
-
I keep having the same problem with HTML over and over. Half way through a battle, i stop being able to do damage. I hate HTML because there is no way to track my mission progress during a battle...really inconvenient and annoying.

Sorry, there is a problem You do not have permission to view this content. Error code: 2F173/H There is a problem with the link from May Celebrations to the forum

When ever I see either one of these, I immediately get feelings of dread...it's Pavlovian. It's only a game so it's kind of silly to get jolted into a bad mood, but I've seen these update icons/pics so often and every single time they bring disappointment.

PTB (PonyTailBoy) is probably the cause of Tanki's demise. Sadly this has happened because I'm pretty sure he has dramatically increased Tanki's bottom line. Even now with all the toxic updates and just rude, almost malicious changes in the game, I would bet Tanki is making more money now than when the game was actually fun to play a few years ago (pre-paint separation, when dinosaurs walked the Earth). PTB is killing the game....we know this as players, but as an owner/board of directors/the money guys, it's hard to argue with much increased profits. In fact you almost can't. The tragedy is that PTB is killing the Golden Goose. The game was great and could have lasted until VR game took over the gaming industry...20 more years. But Tanki will go the way of TankiX in a year, maybe two, maybe even five. PTB has already cued up the "natural attrition" mantra and has sold the money guys on the idea that Tanki was already a zombie....an out of date relic from the days of PC gaming and was going to die soon anyway. PTB will walk away blameless and the money guys will move on to something else. Only we players will have an idea of what they threw away for quick profits.

I tried inputting my account name in the migration screen again for the umteenth time. This time it worked! So my Latin account is transferred and I don't need help@Tanki anymore, which is a very good thing since they are totally UN-helpful...in fact they are still 100% unresponsive. They may have known that there was some sort of problem with the migration screen, but they could have made some sort of manual response as a courtesy. They have an auto-responder, why not take the time to add wording like "If your inquiry is concerning the problems with migration to EN servers, please be patient. We are working on the problem." Instead they just let customers hang for weeks with nothing. Very poor inconsiderate customer service. Thank you Ninja for trying to help me and taking an interest in my situation.

Honestly, I don't mind alterations being discontinued (in essence, that's seems to be what's happening). The big trouble I see is that the players with alterations from our time fame now, will have HUGE advantage over new players (there's got to be a couple, right?) and players as they rise in rank. It will be YEARS before the playing field is leveled. I sincerely doubt that Tanki has years left, especially if they continue as they have in the past few years with all these horrendous and poorly thought out updates. What I can't comprehend is introducing NEW alterations for hulls...what in the world are they thinking??? The only explanation is that somewhere down the road, alterations by choice and not luck will be offered through some sort of method designed to make Tanki more money. I have no idea how they will structure it, but I have complete and utter confidence in Tanki's greed.

wow...you've certainly changed your tune since the days when you were a reporter or moderator (I kinda forget...maybe both?). It's hard to see this game deteriorating since it used to be such a blast to play. We the lucky, who got to enjoy it in its heyday, can't help but feel cheated and saddened by our loss of a really great game. i think it is even harder to see the game getting worse and worse every update rather than if it had just ended one day....gone. Anyway, I'm glad to see your thoughts and posts now. They really add to the forum now as opposed to the days when you were the devil's advocate (at best).

I sent one email and waited a week when I originally tried to contact them...now I email everyday. My spam folder is empty. They are either not there or not bothering to respond. I've asked them to just send a non-automated response of any kind to let me know that they have at least seen my problem, but nothing for a couple of weeks so far. I doubt I am the only one having a problem with migration from Latin to EN servers. What I'd really appreciate is someone connected more closely to Tanki than I am, checking to see if help@tankionline.com is actually up and running or it on hiatus with the covid19 lockdown?
