Has anyone let the Amish know what is going on with the Corona Virus pandemic? So I said to Arnie, "Where did you get those toilet paper rolls?" When do the Coronavirus symptoms begin to show up? Your grandparents were called to war. You're being called to sit on your couch. You can do this. Covid-19 Travel Selfie Day 18 of lockdown: Filled the dog with helium.

April 14th Hey! Good change on the HTML login page. Click "Play" and it opens to the actual login screen instead of the "New Player Sign-up" screen. One less fiddly click-n-wait in the profusion of fiddly click-n-waits that is now the HTML lobby and garage of our accounts. Keep improving HTML and maybe in a year or so it will be playable.

Holy crap! I misread the announcement and thought this was just a four day event. I'm burdened with 1.75X XP for TWO FRIGGIN' WEEKS + ! Damn, that totally sucks. Devs you really tossed a monkey wrench into it this time. Why don't you try doing something FOR the players and not TO the players...jerks.
-
It's not "win-win". I certainly won't profit from it. It hurts my Tanki strategy. I don't want extra XP, but I'm forced to accept it...there is no choice. And all the boneheads that go for this event may dramatically impact game-play for the worse. The Wasps alone will ruin game-play...it's bad enough in regular conditions but this event will motivate even more disruptive no-skill Wasp bombs. So yeah, I'm pessimistic because Tanki just thrashed the next four days of game-play and I will get nothing for it other than frustration.
-
What Tanki should be doing instead of these poorly conceived silly events is generating a Lockdown WAR with decent rewards.
-
So do you know a way I can avoid 1.75X XP? Or the huge increased number of Wasps bombing everything all the time, ruining every battle. We complain because ill conceived events like this cause poor playing conditions for no rewards for the majority of players
-
Another penalty event. Even worse this time. I don't want extra XP...especially almost double XP. The slower you rank up the more time you have to generate crystals. That is one reason Premium is 1.5X XP and 2X crystals (and 2X stars). It is a disadvantage for most players to rank up quicker. It's also the reason Tanki gave us for decreasing the overall rate of XP...slow down XP to allow more time to generate crystals as you advance The special missions are almost rude and insulting and the rewards!: 1000 speeds for 10 DD...What? 5000 kills (four turrets only) for 1000 mines...why? Drop 100 golds for 300 crumby batteries...who even has 100 golds, other than Buyers? 200000 score is an awful lot for one paint, but at least it isn't a complete insult.
-
Interesting observation and maybe a good follow-up poll for comparison, but my curiosity runs towards total time spent playing Tanki by respondents, not just how much more time they have spent since the lockdown. In a few days, after some results come in on this poll/thread, I will create a poll as you have suggested. Thanks for the input ?

How much time in Tanki?...and Covid19 jokes too :)
Joeguy replied to Joeguy in How much time in Tanki?...and Covid19 jokes too :) Archive
I'm just curious. I've been playing about 3 to 4 hours a day with an occasional 5 to 6 hour day thrown in once in awhile. I've also been collecting Covid19 jokes in my off Tanki hours...enjoy: What’s the difference between Covid19 and Romeo and Juliet? I’ll tell you a coronavirus joke now, but... I ran out of toilet paper and had to start using old newspapers. If there is a baby boom nine months from now, what will happen in 2033? If Coronavirus isn’t about beer, why do I keep hearing about cases of it? So many coronavirus jokes out there, it’s a pundemic. Back in the day you would cough to cover up a fart. Now, with Covid19, you fart to cover up a cough. What did the customer say to the bartender? Yeah I have plans tonight. What do you tell yourself when you wake up late for work and realize you have a fever? Why didn’t the sick guy get the joke? Why do they call it the novel coronavirus? Why don’t chefs find coronavirus jokes funny? Did you hear the joke about the germ? Finland just closed its borders. Do you know what that means? What do you call panic-buying of sausage and cheese in Germany? You know what they’re saying about 2020. What types of jokes are allowed during quarantine? -
Battle funds are meaningless now...even when they are doubled; win, lose, top player, bottom player, inconsequential. Now game income is generated by daily missions and stars...maybe a few golds now and then during holidays.

Yep...this worked. I got 11 in Flash and the first one in HTML. Thanks for the insight. You said you only got 2 mine kills. The trick for me was ASL. As they try to cap flags....boom! The right map probably helps too. I got my 12 in like Four ASL battles (finally ASL is good for something ? )
-
Question: Can these special event missions, like kill 12 with mines, only be done in HTML or do mine kills count when accomplished in Flash??? The Lockdown mission is both Flash and HTML...how about Cosmonaut Day missions?
-
I've only been able to load an actual battle four times all day long....all the game does is loading loading loading screen. Getting into garage takes two or three minutes. It's like the servers have some sort of big problem and are running incredibly slow. With today's restart, things have gotten back to normal for loading, so ....never mind ?
-
Ummmmm kind of a harsh April Fools joke...HTML won't load. Like Bydo already said, the loading bar just keeps grinding away with no actual loading.

I guess I'm nuts, but I see 1.5 XP as a negative. Why would you want to rank up quicker? Especially in the lower ranks. Tanki lowered the amount of XP you get per kill in order to allow players more time to amass more crystals as they go through the ranks (at least this is why they said they lowered the rate). I want to stay as low a rank as I can to let crystals build up and to take advantage of any upgrading I have done. Quick XP hurtles you forward faster than you can MU your equipment. It's certainly a bad deal to only get 50% larger itty bittty battle funds at the expense of 50% more XP. 1.5X battles funds alone would have been a nice and welcome gesture, but not with the increased XP What would have been really nice is a 20 day virus war (with lots and lots of container rewards).

A very positive step forward for HTML. It is much better. There are still quite a few issues with HTML, but hopefully they can be sorted out as time goes on. Hopefully this is the start of a trend where the devs actually pay attention to the community that plays their game...thank you for the improvements. I do hope that Flash will still continue for some time though. I played in flash today and it was almost impossible to get into my garage. I certainly would have timed out had I been within a battle. I finally got in about 5 minutes after the third login. Yesterday I had lots of trouble with crashes, freezes, and long waits to just get login screens or to get into the lobby. Daily missions would only show a blank gray screen with no missions. It smacks of not keeping up with Flash and possibly just letting the Flash version glitch into oblivion. I understand it is more work to keep both platforms up and running, but as long as Flash is available, it would be good to keep it operating smoothly even with the added labor. I for one would prefer a clean break with Flash as opposed to the frustration of trying to play on it as it is let to go to seed and decay. The HTML improvements have made HTML a much more viable option to Flash, but I still prefer Flash and will continue to play it as long as I can. At least now when the change-over happens it won't be my last days with Tanki.
-
uuhhh, nope. Almost all of the missions are way too much for way too little. So I just don't play Tanki much anymore. Maybe in the old days when you had longer battles, could interact with friends, and there was none of the magic-foo-foo ODs, etc....when Tanki was fun I might have been up for such huge missions, but not now in these pitiful battles. So I just don't play and have abandon any higher ranked accounts. Pretty sad really. I gotta give you guys that still play credit for helping to keep the game alive, I'm sure no help anymore.

The daily missions are just too freaking hard
Joeguy replied to Joeguy in The daily missions are just too freaking hard Archive
I dusted off one of my higher ranked accounts and tried playing for a week or so. It is very discouraging. The missions take forever to complete and the rewards are truly sad for the amount of time put in to complete the missions. You finally grind through 20 daily mission and get 125 mines and football paint. grrrrr I still play Tanki a lot, but only in lower ranks. I've tried several times to renew my interest in higher rank battles and accounts, but the missions are so burdensome and the game-play itself such a frenetic drug spam to stay alive more than a second or two...there is no strategy, it's just luck. This is so far from what Tanki was when it was fun. Then add HTML into the already degraded mix and I don't see much future for me and Tanki. If the devs reduced the difficulty of the missions it might inspire me (and others) to play more. If you can't earn income you can't be competitive. The missions are too hard to complete to stay competitive. -
Overall this entire Pause screen is much less convenient and much more fiddly than the Flash version where all these functions were done by hotkey or a single icon click from the battle screen. If it stays in the HTML version it could use an overhaul. A. The font is much too small which makes it more difficult to read. There is plenty of space...at least make the time itself larger. B. This would be better accessible from the battle interface just like in the Flash version, or make a hotkey for it like has been done with Garaqe (G) and Back to Battle (P). The hotkey would also need to have an off/on option in settings just like G and P. C. I assume this is a work in progress. It will also need a hotkey along with an off/on option in settings...or a one click icon...just like in the Flash version. D. If you must have an "enter" default, it needs to be "Back to the Game" not "Leave the Battle". I have already dumped several games by accident because of this poorly thought out default. The "press any key to re-enter" in Flash is much better than this fiddly menu...press forward to select "back to game" then click enter to re-enter the game...Flash is more convenient and better designed...any key gets you back into the battle. With this menu, even if you press the hotkey (P) when you re-enter, you are still on pause and need to move your tank to get out of pause. Flash is more convenient, faster, and better designed E. The menu itself would be much better if it were not opaque and instead, a partially transparent screen...just like in the Flash version.

The font is too small which makes it more difficult to read, especially at a glance during a battle. Rank icons and defense icons are also too small making them mostly pointless...especially at a glance during a battle.

What I just can not understand why HTML was changed so drastically. Ten years of developing Flash and the features of Flash tossed out the window, then the devs want to know what is wrong with HTML and why few players like it. We want HTML to look. feel, and have at least the same features as Flash. I can't find even one single thing that is better in HTML...absolutely none of the things added in HTML have helped the game in terms of players or the overall gaming experience in Tanki. I can fine dozens of things that have been made inferior to the Flash version. Why?????
-
A. The point indicators are too small and are difficult to follow when they bounce from side to side and middle. They are much better in flash where they are stationary, larger, higher contrast, and fill with the color of the team as they are captured, they mimic the points themselves. When you make the interface at 75% (much better) the point indicators become almost microscopic and just about useless. B. The Points themselves are too washed out and too hard to see. They need a lot more contrast or saturation like they have in flash. HTML points can easily disappear against the background. C. The health bar is much better in Flash with two similar colors, one darker and one lighter. It is not as easy to gauge your health in HTML because of poor contrast. If you are on red it is harder to determine the blue enemy because of the red/black health bar...an almost dead teammate looks like a blue. It's harder to tell your own health in red since the dark gray fades into the paint color....contrasting colors like in Flash would be much better D. At 100% these are difficult to read because of poor contrast. At 75% they are almost impossible to read. So in HTML they only clutter the screen. If they are necessary at all, they need a back screen (as on E), or higher contrast. A terrific option would be the ability to turn them off completely in settings. E. The Grammar Police are reading you your rights as I type this. Allies have lost point C (not has) Enemies have captured point C (not has) This would be another great thing to be able to turn off/on in settings. F. I want to be able to access my daily/weekly missions while in battle. I know you devs think omitting this very convenient feature will motivate players to complete battles since you tried this previously. But it is one of the many things that make the HTML version inferior and much less enjoyable than the Flash version. Access to missions is a very important part of completing missions. I want to know how many more boxes or even what kind of box I'm concentrating on or how my score is coming along.. When I do play in the HTML version, I quit a much higher percentage of battles to check my mission progress. G. I'd like to see a graphic representation of my XP just like in Flash...an XP bar. Numbers alone are not very helpful. I would also like to see my crystal balance and number of stars just like in Flash.

Why does the lobby (initial screen with your Tank) move around now? Is the camera guy supposed to be drunk and reeling from intoxication? Is it a slow moving earthquake? Maybe a psychedelic experience before going into battle? Or does the camera motion in the lobby prepare you for the sickening motion of the battle in HTML? If the panning effect actually gave you a different perspective of your tank it might be kinda OK, but all it does is seethe and has a seasick feeling to it. The motion is not needed and is completely unrealistic...it' just weird. Get rid of the motion in the initial garage screen.

Didn't know this! Thanks! This has helped the interface a lot...I set it to the lowest setting and it made the obnoxious OD and radar much less intrusive. It also made the names on Tanks a better size. The one problem that I've found so far with making the interface smaller is in CP (there may be other problems, but I haven't played anything else yet). Even at 100% the CP point indicators are much much too small and instead of being static and filling up like they do in flash, they jump around from side to side when a team captures the point...they are very hard to follow even at full size interface, on the 75% setting they almost disappear. Make the CP point indicators at the top of the screen static, larger, and have a filling animation exactly like they are in Flash. At the very least larger.

This would be wonderful if Tanki did or even could do this. Making two sets of interfaces n HTML does seem like quite a bit of work though.
