All they care about is selling skins. If everyone is uniform, they think more players will BUY skins. I expect they will release even more skins in the near future. I think your point about the little rush you get when finally getting to that next level and seeing the result of a new looking hull/turret is a big part of the fun of Tanki...so Tanki must kill it. And, as you say it helps to identify levels on the battlefield....which they don't want. Tanki doesn't care about quality of experience or game-play. They only care about squeezing for another nickel and how far they can squeeze before they suffocate the game completely. It's ruinous greed. In the last three years Tanki has been gorging on the fun and momentum created in it's first seven years.

Have some more of the Kool-aid. Of course they need to earn money, but the problem is they are ruining the game to do it. ...Was this update with all it's downsides necessary? Were many of these game crushing updates necessary? I've never seen a company that is so abusive to their customer base. Tanki is lost in greed and thinks nothing about quality of play only how to make more money and how to apply pressure tactics to accomplish this. I believe they are squeezing the golden goose and will eventually discard it when they can get no more out of it. Maybe they will be able to convert the game to all buyers and won't need the freebie players, but I kinda doubt the buyers will be in great enough numbers keep the game going. Tanki has lost the SEA servers already and the Latin servers are dying in the next month or so. China is down to a few hundred players during peak hours and the EU servers have lost significantly more than 100,000 players (potential income for AP) at peak hours in the last few years. Is there a trend here? Is that trend positive? Look at this forum. How many players like the updates that Tanki keeps inflicting on us? Certainly not the majority by a landslide. Wouldn't it be pretty easy to deduce that the majority of the players that aren't on the forum feel about the same way? Could this be the reasons player numbers keep dropping and more than 100,000 players at peak times have been lost completely?

Well, it looks as though Tanki has found a way to exclude Freebies from acquiring kits. OK, there are a couple of kits available for crystals, but the vast majority can only be bought with Tankions...lots and lots of Tankoins. In fact so many Tankoins I would venture to say it is just about impossible to buy a kit with Tankoins from missions before the rank ceiling is reached, and you need more Tankoins for the next higher rank level. Also, since kits are only available for a few hours every few weeks, it makes it pretty difficult for a Freebie to be in the right pace at the right time. Possibly with the stars thing buying a kit as a Freebie might be possible, but I would guess that to earn enough stars to gather Tankoins a player will rank up faster than enough Tankioins come in. Basically only buyers will be able to get kits from now on...it will be a very rare occurrence when a Freebie player will be able to get a kit they actually want. Buyers, on the other hand have complete access to advanced kits at all times because they can just buy Tankoins.

A Cautionary Tale On my alt account I had a Dictator M2-7/10 so it got converted to MK6-1/10...not exactly how I would have calculated the conversion but pretty close....no beef. So I am in HTML (I HATE the cumbersome HTML set-up) to see about kits and decide to go ahead and upgrade the Dictator one MU...from MK6-1/10 to MK6-2/10. In the ridiculous microscopic print, I see that the upgrade costs 1000 crystals....cool....I pull the pin and get the upgrade. My account balance is reduced by 4000 crystals. I got Tankied. Be careful with this new system. There may be many of these garfs and glitches. I'm not going to do any other upgrading until things get settled in for a couple of weeks and let Tanki work out some of the bugs while the Wiki catches up for reference. Don't get Tankied like I did. ?

Well, no help in the Matchmaking department from the modification update. I was just in a match with my alt account which is Rank5 and MK1. The other team had Rank10 which could easily be Mk4 equipment. This is M0 vs M2...it could actually even be worse now since that MK4 could have his equipment MUed to MK5 levels which would make it M0 vs M3. It was such an absolute slaughter that I would guess most of the opposing team was M2 (MK4) and one guy M3 (MK5) So as I said previously in several other posts, the modification update will have no beneficial effect on Matchmaking....MM is still broken an the number one problem with Tanki.
-
It must just at my rank on an alt acct. As long as there is some way to buy kits with crystals things are cool. Thanks for the info ?
-
This is good to know, but I don't see any product kits for crystals right now...many for Tankoins with some even on sale for Tankoins or real money, but no kits that can be purchased with crystals. This is a game changer if you can't buy kits with crystals.
-
Uhhh, I'm kind of panicing here. There are no garage kits. The shop has zillions of kits but all for Tankoins. Does this mean there are not going to be kits available for crystals in the garage anymore or is it that kits are just not on offer today and will be back in the garage at a later date? Anyone have some insight into this?

...for classic_style_hiphop: time consumption for upgrades M system Dictator M2 going from MU8 to MU9 = 7d 18h 33m MK system (guess) Dictator will have to go through several MUs to acquire the same equivalent power of M2-MU9...let's just guess and say three those 3 MUs = 7d 18h 33m (just like in the M system) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 50% Sale In M system you paid the sale price and waited the prescribed 7d 18h 33m for your upgrade In the MK system you will by the first of your three upgrades and get the sale price on it and you will wait for approx 1/3 the prescribed waiting time in the M system. But you still need two more upgrades to get the equivalent power so you must wait for the next sale (add a few weeks) and wait again until the third sale (add a few weeks). After three upgrades and many weeks of waiting, you have the equivalent power of the M2-Mu9...more time was spent waiting. If you don't wait for sales you can come close to the same waiting times for the M system with the MK system. If you have lots of crystals to burn you can do speed-ups and the waiting times are virtually equal between M and MK. My main point is that unless you are a buyer with lots of crystals, the MK system will effectively cost more and take longer to upgrade your equipment. Basically due to waiting on sales.

I'm doin' forum instead of playing Tanki...and my available time is just about up. Looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow to see what the new MK system is like. Latin servers are up and running,,,jugar amigo ?

So you don't have the newly released "Ooze" turret and you wish to try it out but you are at MK7 level. In the M system you bought the M3 version of The Ooze for a hefty price and tried it out (probably more prudent to stary a new account and try it at MK1 and MK2 levels). But now with the MK system you need to buy an MK1 Ooze and take the time and crystals to bring it to the equivalent of today's M2 for a trial. This still sounds very expensive and certainly time consuming. (And with M or MK systems it is still probably more prudent to start a new account and try The Ooze at MK1 and MK2 levels) classic-style-hiphop said: "Is it to my understanding that you're referring to micro-upgrading equipment as a means to upgrading them to the next modification? ? " Uhhh, no, not even remotely close. If i could ask you, please read my post again. If you still don't understand what I wrote i will explain it again in different words. Thanks.

I don't buy it. MM will still maintain the rank spread as it is now. It will just be different names for the modifications. I doubt they are going to re-work the way MM puts players into battles. It would be great if they did but, I'm afraid this update will only affect modifications not rank spread.
-
So you are going to try that groovy turret that you just bought MK1 on a MK7 battlefield? Yikes! If you have oodles and oodles of crystals (like a buyer) it won't matter and will be about the same amount of waiting time. But if you are a Freebie or even a prudent Buyer it will take more time if you wait on sales to upgrade. One upgrade on sale usually precludes you from making a second upgrade at that same sale due to the wait time. So, you end up waiting for the next sale for the next upgrade. It's just like my example of crystal outlay in my previous post. Previously in the M system an upgrade was one big cost and one big time block. In the MK system the price may stay the same and the wait times may stay the same on paper, but if you follow sales it will slow the process down dramatically and increase the cost. If you can afford to click upgrade and speed-up several times, you are correct...no extra wait times. If you wait to take advantage of sales for you upgrades, lots more waiting between upgrades and most likely extra cost. Hey, wait..isn't that Tanki's mission...too motivate players to send in money so they don't have the inconvenience of waits or they can get the best as soon as possible? Isn't this update just another means to that end? Make it harder to upgrade you equipment...longer waits, more crystals...unless you can throw lots of crystals at your account for speed-ups

I don't think Tanki has said anything about changing how MM operates. Previously we had M2-MU1 tanks tossed in with M3-MU20 (M4) tanks. With the MK system we will get the same thing but different names..a newly acquired MK5 (M2-MU1) up against an MK7 (M3-MU20). If Tanki actually changes MM and pits MK7 to only MK7s and MK5s only to MK5s this will indeed be a great advantage to players and totally worth the extra expense. In fact I will make a copy of my negative words and eat them...litterally. But, knowing Tanki, I kinda doubt I have a word sandwich coming up for lunch. Tanki doesn't do stuff for players, they do stuff for Tanki.

1) This is no advantage. Lets say you are a Legend and you have an M0-MU2 Dictator laying around clogging up your garage. Previously, if you wanted a more relevant Dictator, yo could just buy an M3 and start the process of upgrading to it's eventual cap of M4 (more accurately M3-MU20) Now, with this update, (and if I am understanding it correctly), you will have to go through all the upgrades from that M0 point it is in your garage now...you can't just jump to M3. That is going to be much more expensive and very very time consuming because you are now forced to go throught he equivalent of M0-MU3,MU4,MU5,MU6...MU19,MU20...M1-MU1,MU2,MU3...MU10...M2-MU1, MU2, MU3...and finally M3-MU1 through MU20. These upgrade stages will be called something else, MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4...MK7, but they will still take more time and more crystals to get you your shiny apex Dictator equivalent to a current M4. 2) If this is true it will in fact be an advantage, and I stand corrected. BUT, my guess is that MatchMaking will just squirt in higher and lower ranks when it needs to fill a battle so a poor MK2 will now be fighting an MK5...the exact same crap we have now only with a different name. M0-MUwhatever vs M1-MU10 (basically M2), or M1 vs M3, or M2 vs M4 (this one is the most awful). It will have a new name but the power of the tanks will be the same...Tanki is not revamping MM...the effective rank spreads will be the same. 3) This is pointless. If A to B costs $100, what difference does it make if it is paid in four steps or ten...it's still $100. Also there is big disadvantage in additional waiting times and this smaller dose upgrades will impact those that upgraded at sales...especially in the higher ranks where waiting times are so much longer. Lets say your next MU will cost 40710 in today's structure. You wait for that sweet 50% sale and would only pay 20355. In the coming MK structure you will have to pay more or wait a lot more for concurrent sales. The power derived from the 40710 upgrade will be broken into several increments (as a guess, lets just say 3 parts). So in the MK system the same upgrade of power will still cost 40710 but it will be broken into 13570, 13570, and 13570. You get the 50% sale on the first stage s you only pay 6785, You wait a few weeks and catch a crazy Weekend with 30% so you pay 9499. You get sick of waiting around for another bloody sale and pull the pin on the third MK upgrade and pay 13570. Now you have the equivalent power in both M1-2-3 and the new MK systems. But you waited much longer with the MK system and paid substantially more. 20355 (50% sale) vs 29854 And that is if you wait out and extra sale. If you pay retail with no sales all you will lose is lots of your time in the new MK system. So I stand by my statement...There are ZERO advantages. Tanki doesn't do stuff for us, they do stuff for them.

There is no player advantage in this what so ever...ZERO. So if there is no player advantage, the only reason for the change is company advantage. That means Tanki has implemented yet another update to make them more money. Tanki loves the churn. Keep everything changing all the time...no improvement, just change change change which equals ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching. Squeeze every penny they can out of what ever buyers are left. I don't know how this update will impact players, but I'd bet big (real) money, that it won't do the vast majority of the player base any good and will be horribly unpopular.

It has been almost a month since I posted this and still nothing. This has been happening since Siege started. Don't you think this glitch should be addressed? It cheats all players below Rank5 from a daily mission or two...YOU CAN"T COMPLETE A MISSION IF YOU CAN"T ACCESS THE MODE. This is still happening, quite frequently...it's not an isolated glitch. Players get Siege mode missions almost every day at Rank4 so they can't complete the three dailys. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO SOMEONE THAT CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! This is like the fifth time I've posted about this glitch and no moderator has even acknowledged my posts. PLEASE PLEASE let me know you will pass this on. It can't be hard to fix, it just needs someone to address the problem. The code is already in place for other modes/ranks...it has to be a very smple fix. Com'on help get this fixed...why let it go on and on and on???

Ughhhhhhh, in HTML names are not clearly visible at all from any angle or distance...all I get is an undecipherable tiny pixel blur.

A very nice message and quite humble...a huge departure from Tanki's normally smarmy spin and tortured rationalization. One can only hope that the essence of this lovely New Year message from Tanki is a new leaf being turned over and they will back up what they just said with action and actually listen to the community. Merry New Year devs, staff, and players. I hope it's a great year for all of us ?
-
Very nicely done V-Log. Good job guys! Happy New Year!

Wow...does no one pay any attention? This is the 4th time I've posted this. It's the 3rd time I've asked for some sort of moderator acknowledgement. The problem still exists. It's been almost three weeks. It's easy to fix. Could you PLEASE pass this on to the devs to address and maybe respond this post with and OK, or done, or you're annoying, anything to let me know that you are aware of the problem and are passing it on to the people that need to be apprised of the situation??????????????
-
Could some moderator acknowledge this re-re-post. I' like to know if you are letting the people that would be fixing this know about this situation. As I have said several times already this has got to be an easy fix...why let it go on for weeks and weeks?

I understand that Hazel is an employee that is doing his job. I did in fact mention that he has probably increased Tanki's bottom line (which is probably why he is held in high esteem), but, I believe that the course of action that was set in motion is a short term cash influx but the eventual destruction of the golden goose. That is pretty much bad business. It is a shame that Tanki has been so corrupted...there were more player friendly ways to increase revenue. Tanki will continue on it's downward spiral as long as Hazel is at the helm. Tanki will continue the buff/nerf cycle on all equipment regardless of how it was portrayed when sold to the purchaser...this lacks integrity at best and is downright dishonest at worst (legal, but unethical). This forum has thousands of posts condemning MM and all the ancillary updates to accommodate MM but it is just gas in the wind...Tanki will do as Tanki will do. I think that if Hazel were removed from the driver seat (I also mentioned he could be demoted and that doesn't even mean a pay cut necessarily) Tanki might well start to revive itself. For one thing Hazel has completely ignored organic growth...that is, in most businesses, ludicrous. My take is that the money people feel Tanki is a throw away and they have let the current administration run with whatever. That specific "whatever" has paid off monetarily at the expense of a huge player base. The money people are happy because of immediate gains as opposed to what I see as potential long term gains...and of course a very selfish desire to have a fun game to play as opposed to consistent irritation at constant upheaval through toxic update after toxic update (churn). So yeah, I'd love to see Hazel get a pink slip...or at least taken out of control. My bet is he could easily parlay three years of revenue growth at Tanki into another, maybe even more lucrative, gig. He has consistently messed up my favorite game for years...so dump him and try someone else. Tanki doesn't much care about their player base, why should we care about their employee's jobs? ...especially when those jobs directly impact us, the end users of Tanki.
