I had assumed they changed their minds about implementing them as it may have ruined balance in the game. Then I assumed that that would be another batch of alterations to release at a later date for whatever reason. I say this because Zak made this topic a month ago. That is one of the alterations that were not released with the second batch. It seems as if they're doing silent testing on the real servers. I say to expect it after balance changes because I believe that the Firebird rework was to incorporate the Incendiary Mix alteration. No I'm not. I'm just giving a heads up. Just like balance changes are usually right before the Friday where a V-Log takes place to document and explain them.

And why is this in the Let's Discuss Hornet thread? Shouldn't this be in the Let's Discuss Railgun thread?
-
Why should it have a 100% chance to one-shot a medium hull? They can already do that with Shell Destabilisation and Large Calibre Rounds. You're suggesting that Stock Railgun get this. This would affect the altered Railguns (except Shell Destabilisation) and make them even more powerful. Large Calibre already one-shot heavy hulls. How will this be balanced in XP/BP battles. Railgun has to be tailored for that specific gameplay as well you know. You want to increase the minimum damage to give it a 100% chance of one-shotting a medium hull? Well the damage ranges will, at least, look like this. M0: 750-810 M1: 1034-1089 M2: 1191-1205 M3: 1323-1414 M4: 1,500-1,600. You see what happened there? The damage range significantly decreased, making Shell Stabilisation almost worthless compared to the other alterations. You're not even giving light hulls a chance with this. Large Calibre Rounds with this Railgun will guaranteed one-shot an unprotected heavy hull. This would also make "Death Herald" Compulsator an even better pick over Stock Railgun. With this, how would Electromagnetic Accelerator "Scout" even work? The minimum damage would be higher than the maximum damage. If it stayed the same without the damage reduction, it would be an upgrade to Rail. The only thing that'll stay the same is Shell Destabilisation. This is a terrible idea and for the sake of balance, would most likely have a 100% chance to not be implemented.

Which gun or guns do you think need a nerf?
Kill_the_Propaganda2 replied to CommanderTFR2346 in Archive
Since it lacks the damage that Stock Freeze has, it is possible that you can die to a short-range or medium-range turret while trying to finish off the enemy you're shooting. It also doesn't help when they have protection against you. It's great for defending and great for taking a flag out of the enemy base but in terms of getting kills, not really. I've encountered a few Shock Freezes and they all do worse than the Stock Freeze or Corrosive Mix Freeze. Stock Freeze can Freeze a player relatively fast as well. -
Then that wouldn't make the armour and damage doubled.
-
And piss off all of the players that invested their crystals into it? Of course not. The damage has already been done.

Well Duplet unlocks at Lieutenant Colonel which is 4 ranks higher than your current rank. It would make sense that you don't see much since even if you get enemies Lieutenant Colonel and above, there are 12 other turrets in the game that they can choose to use besides Hammer. And then even if they choose Hammer, there are 3 other alterations to use than Duplet. For Firebird, I think you're talking about the Compact Tanks alteration. That increases the heating rate by 100% - it doubles it. It also increases the maximum temperature limit of the Firebird meaning an M2 Firebird can turn into an M4 Firebird in terms of afterburn damage. Before the nerf, an M2 Firebird would touch you for 2 ticks (0.5 seconds) with double damage and you would already be at maximum temperature. I think the minimum temperature that your tank can reach to should be increased to -0.3. At -0.1 (which is what it is right now), you're basically stationary and serving yourself on a chilled platter for the Freeze. And then you have the frustration of unfreezing. You would think that you can be unfrozen after 5 seconds but nope, your tank still feels like you're driving over tree sap. It's rather frustrating when I kill the Freeze and it already respawns and is coming after me while I'm still recovering from being frostbitten. From what I'm seeing on the temperature Wiki page for the EN Wiki, it says that if the temperature value o the tank is less than 0 (when you're being frozen), the recovery rate for your temperature is 0.25 per second. That means after 4 seconds, you should be completely unfrozen. That is most likely outdated since I can be still partially frozen (just barely) after 8 seconds. I don't see it like that. If I'm using Firebird and I see it's dominating too easily even with protection against me, I would like it to be nerfed. I use the Adaptive Reload alteration for Hammer. That needs a nerf because that is a direct upgrade for Hammer. The 10% clip reload increase ins't significant enough for a pro to be adding two shots after a kill. I use Uranium for my Striker and I think needs a nerf in damage because increasing the reload time by 300% doesn't stop you from one-shotting light hulls or medium hulls. I don't think Shaft should be doing the damage it's doing right now. A slight boost would have been nice to counteract the protection given to us by Drones currently but the damage seems a bit too far. I don't need to ustilise Heavy Capacitors much anymore since my Stock Shaft's scoped shots now kill the 10/10 M2 medium hulls. I am thankful that i can one-shot Vikings now but again, it seems a little too much. Ah well, protection modules would be flowing in and soon, the increased damage would be a normal thing for enemies. It makes sense that we'd be selfish and nerf other turrets besides the one we like using but we have to put that mentality aside and balance the game. Enemy uncertainty levels would reach a maximum with this. -
You can stay with Mammoth if you'd like. Titan has more speed and HP. You also have to figure out which Overdrive you would like to assist you in your time of playing with Vulcan. Choose which one you think is right.
-
You're reading the information wrong. Look after the semicolons. You have a semicolon, then "Alterations", followed by a hyphen and "May 09. This indicates that on May the 9th, alterations would have been on sale. Today is the Drones' sale. You can also look at how the first discount is presented as well if you're unsure in the future. The format is *What is on sale* -- *Date during which the sale is active*. Tomorrow is the sale on Supplies and Batteries.
-
You just can't reason with these people. Titan may be better. I just used Mammoth since that had more health than Titan, costed less to fully upgrade and had an earlier unlock rank for M2.

I think Hammer is fine as it is. That double shot mechanic needs to go. Hammer kills most hulls in two shots with double damage. Why should another type of Hammer shoot both those shots in less than 0.5 seconds? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Freeze needs a nerf. I would say Twins but the common protection module against it mellows it out. -
I believe that Dictator should replenish 50% of its Overdrive when in DM and JGR battles. If not 50, then at least 25%.
-
With every balance change, expect the new batch of alterations to be implemented shortly after. I am confident that the Firebird rework was to facilitate the testing and implementation of the Incendiary Mix alteration. They may nerf Magnum to facilitate the Incendiary and Cryo bomb alterations they may implement. They may rework Isida to facilitate the Attack Nanobots alteration. They may buff or nerf Twins to facilitate that alteration that looks like it gives Twins penetrating power. I would look at each balance change very critically and apply the mechanics of the upcoming alterations to it as best as I can.
-
I am confident that there is some limit to the rank gaps. So I don't think Legends or Marshals queuing for a JGR battle would be placed with a Third Lieutenant.
-
You were queuing during a time where the number of players online is at a minimum. It would be unlikely that you would be placed into a battle. Someone in the chat complained about MM not putting him into any DM battles and it was almost time for the server restart. I think Juggernaut is the least played mode. Either that or Assault. It would be nice if we got some statistics on this.
-
I guess this would be a stupid sight for : It was ridiculous how satisfying that battle was for me.
-
Keep in mind that with this economy, you can have M3s earlier than that (M2 10/10). SO those Majors at the top probably had M3 equipment which would be on par with the Brigadier. With the Shaft buff, I can compete with Marshals and Generals. Players with M3s can compete with Legends but only up to a certain point. Once they bust out that fully upgrade drone, the M3s are done. If I see a high-rank player at the bottom while his lower-rank teammates are above him, I wouldn't be surprised. Another factor is that some turrets just work better in some maps than others. I remember years ago seeing messages of players of a lower rank of the highest ranked player saying that a person who is lower than them is playing better than that person. What if that person only uses one combo and that combo wasn't good for that particular map? I've had a few insults like that thrown at me and I wonder if these people even give strangers the benefit of the doubt before judging them. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Low-rank Juggernaut (Warrant Officer ranks) are just filled with Freezes whether it be M1 or M2 or even M3. It's just filled with them and the Juggernaut can't do anything but watch as 4 Freezes just shoot him from different directions. It's sad really. ANd these players with the M2 Freezes at such a low rank have a BIG advantage over the others since their Juggernaut's damage has a BIG boost. Being able to one-shot M1 medium hulls and stuff. The best thing to do if you have a lot of life left but almost 0% Overdrive charge and a Freeze is freezing you, just self-destruct. Don't let the Freeze get the satisfaction of becoming the Juggernaut. Give it to a random player instead.

Yeah but it doesn't increase the number of battle score you get in a battle. Since it increases EXP, those players would get a big boost. They would be getting more stars and get on top easier, way easier I might add. The competition I can see in this is that if a lot of players buy premium, then they would duke it out like how it is now since they'd be on equal terms. But then the players who don't have premium would suffer and be at the bottom of the table most of the time which would earn them less stars. What do you mean by this? Do you mean that it would be battle score being given out for picking up the flag or rugby ball? Why do that if all that matters is gaining EXP?
-
I didn't say it was doubled. I know that it gives a 1.5x boost the EXP. I used the comparison of a non-premium account getting a kill and a premium account getting an assist. An assist gives 5 EXP. 5 x 150% = 7.5 and I'm pretty sure the game rounds that up like they do with damage that contains decimals above 0.5. That would then result in 8 EXP for an assist like I stated in the post. An assist is objectively easier to obtain that a kill. A kill requires extra work while an assist only requires you to tag them. Autocannon Smoky is great at getting assist points as it can tag multiple enemies in a short time. Vulcan is the easiest turret to tag players with. So the fact that they can get almost as much EXP for getting an assist as getting a kill, doing this over an 6 minute and 45 second period is going to give the premium account a lot more EXP than a non-premium player getting kills assuming that they aren't stolen by the premium account player. The best way to get points is by killing and assisting in kills which would turn the battles into TDM, would it not? The EXP earned would have a minimum requirement too right? It may be close to 70 EXP as well. Seeing that they can't get much kills or assists in a blowout, they would leave. You get more battle score for a kill than EXP for it. So stars would be the better option if you're talking about dropping out of battles while being on the losing team.
-
I just need one more kill on my lower account to complete the Juggernaut mission. I have almost 2,000 kills. I can complete the 7,000 kills if I try hard enough but that's pushing it. That would require me to rank up twice to complete that. I'm still at 9/50 Overdrive boxes. I don't really try for those even though the reward might be worth it.

The same thing happened in this battle a few days ago. We had 3 Titans on our team. We had a Titan + Vulcan, Smoky and some other turret I couldn't remember. I was actually upset that we didn't get put on the blue team given that we had 4 heavy hulls on our team but that thought changed after the all got their Overdrives and raided the base. The Titan + Vulcan put down his Dome first and we kept killing them while our Wasp and Hunter teammates were capturing flags. The Titan + Smoky put down his 2 seconds after the first one disappeared and the cycle repeated until the Wasp capped the last flag. Coming down to the final 20 seconds, a Mammoth Smoky who had stayed till the end had turned to me instead of attacking all the three players who were RIGHT in front of him an activated his Overdrive. Heh, it's a good thing I had mine to and I activated mine and killed him because his ran out before my Overdrive :D. 'Twas a really enjoyable battle but only because we dominated.

Should they have made wasps bomb not do self damage or left it they way it was?
Kill_the_Propaganda2 replied to Sir_Duff in Archive
Getting 4 kills with the bomb isn't supposed to fully recharge it anyway. Reducing the charging time would actually make it charge faster. I think you mean to say reducing the charging rate. It is impossible to obtain three bombs in 1 minute. That, I'm assuming, is probably an exaggeration. Let's assume that is not an exaggeration though. You don't have the Driver Drone (or any drone for that matter) so that blows that method out of the water. Let me assume that you activated three bombs in one minute and not get three bombs in one minute. You activate one, you get (let's use an unlikely number here) 7 kills. That's about 60% charge there. By the time enemies spawn, you should have 65%. Let's say you kill three more before hiding. You may have 90%. You kill someone again and get it to 100%. When you activate this one, it's very unlikely that you would get more than 4 tanks in the radius. You get 4 kills at most. You're up to 36%. It's a miracle that you, a Wasp, haven't died yet. by the time you get the third bomb by being miraculously alive because 30 seconds has already passed and your smart cooldowns should have activated assuming that you didn't pick up all of your supplies before going to their base the first time. You should be weak now, but no matter, let's keep pushing forward. You managed to get more kills assuming that your teammates aren't stealing all of your kills because it's not an 8 v 1 you know. You get back to 100% and drop a bomb. By that time, a minute has long past and probably approaching two minutes. So no, unless you picked up a nuclear energy box (which you didn't state), you shouldn't be able to get 3 bombs in 1 minute in the chaos that is MM small maps. The only other way I can see this happening id if you're playing Assault on a relatively small map (sayyyy, Polygon). You can capture the flag after you dropped the bomb that killed 7 people and that should have it at about 90% and almost ready for another bomb but an ASL flag gives about half of what a CTF flag gives. And given that you're a (probably M2 given the amount of hours you put into it) Wasp, it's likely that enemies would enable double damage and try to kill you. I know for sure that your Railgun isn't one-shotting the heavy hulls so you surviving that long seems incredibly unlikely. I'm just a guy who likes writing these kinds of interactions. Try not to take this too seriously. -
Tweaks to Overdrives, Turrets, and Drones

Man, all these players are coming out and saying Hunter is ugly. I like the 'box' shape of it. -
Many players became mad at me when that happened and I suddenly stopped healing them while they were under fire.
-
But then the premium players would be getting a lot more EXP than the players without it. A non-premium player could obtain 10 EXP for a kill but a premium player could obtain 8 EXP just for an assist. Another thing is that the amount of experienced earned for playing the objective in CTF, CP, ASL for the red team and RGB is far less than what you can get for just killing. Players would catch on to that within the first few days and then battles in those modes would definitely turn into TDMs. I guess it would encourage the sales of premium accounts but I don't think it should depend on EXP earned. Perhaps if this idea could work, they could put incentives to also play the objective by increasing the number of EXP you gain when capturing flags, points or scoring touchdowns as well as maybe giving a bit of EXP for picking up the ball or flag. The latter seems like it can be abused though. Someone would just be dropping or throwing the flag or ball repeatedly to earn score while probably doing nothing but hide behind a building. They're essentially collecting EXP for contributing almost nothing to their team. So from the looks of it, it seems like stars are the best way to go right now until other viable alternatives are brought up.
