  1. I don't know, I feel like balance now is better than ever, especially considering how much more complex it has become compared to years before. You're forgetting about budget. Experienced programmers means employees with a lot of pay. I'm sure if they, as a company, could afford such experts - they'd hire them. But with how small of a business they seem to be, hiring experts doesn't seem to be an option. Also, who's to say that the current devs working in HTML5 are not experts? After all, they are rewriting the game from scratch and there aren't many of them, so that's why it takes a while. The reason they didn't start this earlier (i.e. before 2017) is because back then they were hoping for Unity-based Tanki X to take over from TO. But now that Tanki X didn't turn out to be what they were hoping for and Flash has very quickly started to lose support, they had to start the HTML5 process. When I said that updates help retain players, I didn't mean they stop the loss of players completely. They just help slow it down. To put that in perspective, Tanki was losing popularity fastest during 2015, when there were barely any game updates:

    TANKOINS - New Currency!

You're almost certainly mistaken about this not being a benefit to free players. You are right in saying that this will NOT remove the P2W aspect from Tanki, but it will definitely help. Even if it takes ages to earn these coins, it means that it's once again possible (albeit very difficult) for a free player to obtain every single item that can be purchased with money. And now this also includes buying kits 4 ranks before the equipment in them unlocks normally, which is a feature I thought was really unfair when it was released.

    TANKOINS - New Currency!

    How about "tomorrow"?
  4. By that logic there should be a -1000 kills "reward" to compensate for all the "fake" kills you accidentally made in parkour, or when you were spawn-camping the enemy team, or killing weak tanks.
  5. But then if you get 1000 deaths taken away for no reason, you lose the satisfaction because you know that the number is fake.
  6. You have to understand that a careful balance must be maintained between major updates and small changes to keep people interested. AlternativaPlatform are a small team with very little experience of developing actual games. After all, Tanki Online is literally their first major game dev project. They can't just go and do something like converting the game to HTML5 within a couple months. And they also can't just go all hands on deck for this HTML5 task and abandon the game completely in the meantime. If there were no changes in these 2 years while HTML5 is being made, players would really leave and once HTML5 is finally released, it would be met by no more than a couple thousand remaining players. Of course some of those smaller updates ended up being released with bugs, but a bugged update that mostly works is better than no update at all. Devs said it themselves - you can claim all you want about "bad updates making people leave", but the truth remains in numbers - even the most negative and controversial changes in this game resulted in more people playing and improved player retention.
  7. Not when the game is outdated and runs on an old game engine that keeps crashing for 80% of players.
  8. You don't really understand the concept of jokes, do you? :P Wasp's bomb radius could be increased, but if that makes it too OP then other aspects can be nerfed, like max damage range, cooldown time, activation countdown, etc. But like I said in my first reply here, simply increasing the range is pretty boring, so something like a throwable bomb without any other buffs (and maybe even a slight increase of delay or something) would be a much more interesting mechanic. Doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense - Tanki Online isn't meant to be realistic, and throwable bombs are definitely not the most far-fetched thing we have.
  9. We don't say that F-word here
  10. But then what's the point of "repairing" it if no one will believe the number displayed regardless of what it is, because the pass exists. The idea defeats its own purpose - if the number can be changed, then no one will believe it because they will assume it's changed, regardless of whether or not it's true. Might as well just remove it from profiles at that point. Instead of doing this nonsense, there should just be an additional number that shows K/D for the past week, month and year. That way you can show your actual up-to-date numbers, not counting previous mistakes. But then again, K/D is just a number and doesn't reflect your true potential. I find effectiveness to be much more accurate (although it does use K/D in its formula).
  11. Unfortunately, you always seem to post topics about common themes - new turrets, new alterations, new supplies, etc. All the stuff for which we have the category topics where we collect such ideas. In order for the idea to not be merged, it either needs to be particularly interesting or it can't fit into any of the category topics. Simply suggesting to add alterations and skins for Gauss (something that developers obviously already have planned) is not original.
  12. I imagine the timer starting as soon as the bomb is thrown. Perhaps it could be increased by 1 second again to keep it balanced.

  14. Did you ever throw a ball in Rugby? It barely flies - the range is nothing compared to any turret, but it would help to get the bomb just a bit closer to enemies to prevent them escaping easily. We definitely don't need a new thread for that turret. Besides, magnum on low power is already basically a grenade launcher.
  15. Gauss alterations are planned, as well as alts for other turrets. They will probably be released in one big update in the (near?) future. Skins are obviously planned too - don't think devs would forget about an easy way to make money :P
  16. Valid Interesting idea. I don't think it's the best way to solve the problem though. How about instead of this, there could be a system that limits the protection of all identical modules in one team. So, for example, if 4 or more people equip Thunder protection in one game, their Thunder modules will go down to 40% maximum and they would have to equip something else in order to avoid the penalty.
  17. Oh man, I was just thinking how container prizes are way too useful these days, and it would be great if we could get more pointless stuff! /s
  18. Larger radius would help, but devs actually had another idea - making Wasp's bomb throwable like the Rugby ball. I think that would help quite a lot and be a more interesting mechanic than simply increasing the blast radius.
  19. I feel like Booster drone and Viking's OD already serve this purpose, but ok...

    Combo Setups

Oh but they did... Topic merged This isn't planned for the near future, but developers definitely have it in their bucket list of potential future updates.
  21. This only means that your friends are sensible people who don't dwell on the same thing for years and move on with their life. Very few people play the same game for many years, especially when it's a game like Tanki, which doesn't have that much depth to it. It's very uncommon for someone to be interested in this game for so many years. I'll talk more about this and other related things in an upcoming newspaper article, but just so you know - Tanki stopped advertising in 2015 and is losing players "at an expected rate", according to developers. But isn't the majority of gamers (and Tanki's target audience) exactly that? Not just Russian games. A lot of online games have it these days. Anyway, it's not the worst form of microtransactions. The balance between buyers and free players isn't perfect in Tanki and yes - there are definitely intentional elements of P2W (like early unlocking shop kits), but at least the game doesn't have some kind of premium-only items, which have 50% extra power or something like that. So yeah, it could be a lot worse. I'm glad you think that. Very few people realise that devs have a business to maintain. Hazel Rah, the lead game dev, said multiple times that he'd love to get rid of P2W and give us cool features and free stuff, but he is constrained by the limitations of Flash engine, not enough time, not enough resources and profits margins he needs to meet. Although I hate to see that you followed it with this: There's no reason for them to intentionally make it worse, because if the game is truly getting worse, then players will leave, and the revenue will decrease. Tanki Online is AlternativaPlatform's main project, so it makes no sense to just kill it off for a bit of extra profit. Exactly. Devs can't just do what the players ask, because if one group asks for one kind of change, another group will ask for the opposite, and you can't please everyone with every update. That's why they absolutely DO listen to your feedback, but listening and considering it is not the same as straight-up doing exactly what players demand. There's nothing particularly wrong with the topic, but we prefer to keep the discussion of similar topics in one place. If you want to respond to the main post or my reply, please use the topic Your Opinion About Tanki. Closed.

  23. Ares already has an opening on the front, suggesting that its OD will fire something. Not sure if it will be what you suggest - I predict that it's more likely to be one big blast that knocks other tanks away, like Juggernaut's OD, but it can be used at range.
