Valid Smartphone icon next to nickname, if player is using TO mobile
Maf replied to TankiNoob2000 in Ideas and Suggestions
Well, I doubt that this feature could really be abused to take advantage of mobile users. After all, it usually takes just one encounter with a player to realise that they're not that good at the game (don't turn turret, miss a lot, etc.). So I don't think it would make life worse for mobile users. -
I doubt it would make much of a difference. Besides handling, Viking and Hunter are very similar.

Yeah, would be a nice feature. If I saw a player on Mobile, I'd know that they are most likely less capable and, more importantly, they have no way of seeing messages in chat and responding to them, so there's no point even trying. This thing can always be added as an extra feature, for example something you activate via settings or only see when you press Tab or R/V. -
Without a drone? Whoa :o Although not exactly legends you're playing against...

We don't need to debate the number of servers, because the total number of players will not change. For example, right now you might have 1000 people: 300 playing DM, 300 in CP and 400 in CTF. The wait times are short, and the MM system distributes those players evenly into battles, creating new battles as necessary. If you change it so that there's 50 in DM, 50 in CP and 900 in CTF (doing the CTF mission), then the only thing that changes is that the server will create a lot more CTF battles to fit all of the 900 players. But the server load itself isn't changing, since the number of players is the same, so there's no reason for wait times to increase. In fact, the wait times will increase for the game modes with less players, because it will take longer to get enough players in the queue to start a new game.

Yes, it counts all active paints, which can/could be obtained by players. So the only exceptions are removed paints (like previous holiday and event paints) and Lord.
-
What do you mean? It's right there:
-
Not sure what you mean here. If there are 30 players in a queue, they would be put into 2 separate battles within a few seconds. If there are 1000 players, they would all be put into 63 separate battles within a few seconds.
-
It seems that there are currently 288 active paints in the game, so you're not far from the maximum. Especially if we take into account the fact that some of those paints are one-off rewards (like MoP), which you can no longer get, and special helper/eSports paints.
-
60% slower turret is a massive downside. Doesn't seem like much, but in an active battle where every millisecond counts, faster turret rotation can often mean the difference between a kill and a death.
-
Why should is be a Striker alteration and not, say, a new supply, drone, or overdrive?
-
The paints are "rare" because they are a rare drop from containers, as opposed to common items like supplies and crystals. It doesn't imply that they are rare in the actual game. Although it would be nice to actually know how rare your paint is, either by the number/percentage of players who have it in their garage, or the number of hours players spent in battles with it. There is an idea to implement this, which you can check here: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=364009&hl=

But then if players just want to play a different game mode, they will struggle to get into a battle due to long waiting times. I doubt this would work well - best to keep it randomised.
-
Well, it's a known issue. I just got used to it.

I don't know about client, but I always play with Standalone Flash and it regularly freezes and gives a critical error. Happens maybe once every 5 games, so it's not too annoying, especially considering that I can reload and be back in battle within 20 seconds.
-
That's one long vacation  I haven't had this issue at all. Last time I logged in was 6 months ago. The game now uses HTTPS, so maybe devs will eventually do it for the forum too. But the forum is severely neglected in general, so that's unlikely. That's just one of the many, many forum bugs we have around here nowadays.

Yeah, sounds about right.

Long time to vote - have a 10-second limit and if someone doesn't vote, then there will simply be less votes. If there's a tie - the map is selected randomly from the tied maps. Or the map that reached the highest number of votes first gets chosen. The problem with actually letting players choose the map is that it will make MM less effective, since instead of just choosing the game mode, players will also be separated into a bunch of groups by gamemode AND map they choose. AND even with a choice of just 5 maps, it would make waiting times 5 times longer. Not gonna happen.

OK, I thought you'd still be able to move a bit like you do when completely frozen from a Freeze. If with Vulcan you become fully immobile, then it might be a balanced option.
-
Nah, the majority of players either don't have an attention span long enough to play one battle for 20 minutes, or don't have the time to play 20 minutes in a row (according to devs), so the short battle format is more suitable for the target audience. And you said it yourself - long waiting times, which is terrible because due to the way we perceive time, waiting 6 times for 3 seconds feels much shorter than waiting once for 3 minutes.
-
Interesting. I was just thinking about this as an alteration earlier today. I'm not sure about the balance of this, because sitting frozen at your base on Parma and shooting across the map non-stop doesn't seem particularly fair to the enemy. I feel like there's not no way of removing the overheating effect without either making Vulcan OP, or ruining it to a point where it's almost useless.

A more efficient system would be to give players a list of 3-6 random maps to choose from before the battle starts and let them vote. The battle would then be played on the highest voted map. The game's economy depends on players spending supplies. Alterations shouldn't really be affecting the game in the first place and in theory should be just as powerful as default turrets. I agree that drone users are hard to compete against, but neither drones, nor supplies will be disabled in MM. This is very unlikely. Developers stick to the idea that players should be able to join and leave the game at any moment without penalty, so they won't punish players for leaving a battle. Besides, MM doesn't give players a way to not join a map they dislike or not play against their friends in the enemy team, so it would be illogical to have this inconvenience and then also punish players for dealing with it. Also it would make MM less effective due to less people playing, because some will be sitting in the lobby waiting for the penalty time to end.
