    Ideas for Game Modes!

It's a cool idea and I've seen it implemented with other games. But what's the point of forcing one team to use a specific combo? And why not make it so that both teams can convert enemies to their team by killing them, so that it becomes a constant back-and-forth that's equally fun for both teams? It does require development of a new system that allows dynamic team switching, which could be complicated, but it's a really fun idea for an event game mode, much like Arms Race.

    Ideas for Turrets!

That just sounds like Thunder with Hyperspeed augment and a bit of Magnum mixed in. I don't think the mechanic is original enough to justify adding a whole new turret for it.
  3. Why not just add these as a new type of mission? It's pretty obvious that devs would like to keep the equipment-specific missions in their current state, as it forces players to try new equipment and spend crystals/tankoins/money to upgrade items they might otherwise ignore.

    Gold rush

Good game, everyone. It was a close match, but the Shamrock Squad managed to snatch victory out of the jaws of, well... victory. How exciting.
  5. Valid Only if you can opt out of it. I couldn't care less about eSports matches
  6. I have a few theories why that doesn't happen, or at least didn't happen yet: While the maps are being "remastered", developers have to stay true to the original map's design as much as possible. Those original maps are built by placing "prefab" elements on a grid, resulting in this orthogonal style where everything is at right angles. With HTML5 they could build maps that are more organic, but they likely wouldn't be received well because the gameplay would be too different from the original. That's why only the inaccessible outskirts use this organic design style. Large and open areas like the ones you see on the outskirts of Sandal likely wouldn't work well in Tanki's gameplay. Long range turrets would dominate and slow hulls would struggle. A lot of the outskirts you see are actually non-collision objects, meaning a tank would go right through them if given access. This can be seen in Parkour format. You may think "What's the big deal? Just enable collision!", but it's way more complicated than that, and it's far easier to create simple geometric shapes for collision objects (buildings, ramps, walls) in the playable area while keeping all decorative elements outside of the playable area, which allows artists to be far more creative with their design, and greatly reduces the amount of testing needed, speeding up the map's release.

    Interesting...
  8. Not saying that you're wrong, but it's usually not as simple as that. The question "Is Tanki Online dying?" is not for this topic, but feel free to check out this post for a decent explanation of whether Tanki is actually dying and if it's because of "bad updates".
  9. No idea. My first guess would be that more complicated/interesting overdrives are harder to get, or become available later. Though looking at the unlock ranks, it just feels arbitrary. But having this forced idea of different value and rarity definitely helps keep new players interested. Instead of having everything unlocked and available right away, a new player might be looking at the unavailable equipment and thinking how cool that item must be if it unlocks so much later compared to other stuff, so it would be fun to try it out. Thus they keep playing.
  10. I noticed this happening a lot more recently after the chat reports system was changed. Now people say something in chat, get banned for it 20 minutes later, but think that they instead got banned for whatever minor/innocent thing they said just before the ban was issued. Might be useful to add a note explaining that the ban is issued based on a report, like "You are disconnected from the chat. [...] Reason: Insults/Provocation. Report based on your message from 23 minutes ago"

I changed the edit line to be more accurate. The post contained a link to external websites.
  12. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like this defeats the purpose of the Jammer augments. I always thought that the idea of them is that, while the effect itself is not that significant (compared to something like EMP), you can apply it non-stop as long as you keep hitting the enemy. That way if you are able to keep your opponent under constant, accurate fire, you are rewarded by blocking their ability to use an overdrive or drone, giving you an easier win in a 1v1. Turning Jammer into a chance-based system means that even a fraction of a second between crits would allow the opponent to activate their OD, rendering your jamming augment useless. That being said, I don't use Jammer augments myself, and I look forward to not being constantly wrecked by jamming Freeze/Firebird.
  13. You know Stephen Hawking? You know how he was confined to a wheelchair and by the end of his life could only just about move one of his cheek muscles to control his screen in order to communicate? Think about how badly HE would be playing Tanki, and that gives you a good idea of how bad a human can possibly play. Obviously, this example is extreme, but it would be a poor decision to set some kind of "skill limit", where if you don't perform better than a certain threshold, you get penalised. There's a multitude of reasons why someone could be playing poorly — actual disabilities, bad internet, low FPS, trying new equipment, holding a sandwich in one hand, etc. None of these reasons justify removing such players from a non-competitive game environment such as Tanki MM. As long as there's a similar number of "noobs" and "pros" on each team, battles will be mostly balanced. Sure, it can often be frustrating, but in the end it's just a game. Just shrug and move on. Only if the EULA says that purchasing in this game guarantees that the player gets into balanced battles. Last time I checked, it doesn't mention anything of that sort.

    Hackers

Anti-cheat has been disabled in favour of reducing false triggers on people trying to do legitimate parkour. This should improve the quality of parkour battles overall, as long as you do parkour in small or private battles with a group of trusted friends. Public parkour battles like space mode Silence CTF have always been "parkour" merely by name, when in reality it's just a free-for-all anarchy and a huge mess. In my opinion, the hackers there fit right in. There are no plans to deal with this issue. Reports of parkour violations are no longer accepted in any form. Thread closed.

Idk man, I'm having fun watching the drama unfold. Feels good to not have a horse in this race, haha
  17. I think that, besides player numbers dropping, a lot of this is due to the fact that Tanki's playerbase and internet communities in general have changed a lot. Forums are just not as popular as they used to be, and it's all about instant messaging now, most notably — Discord. Even I, one of the most tryhard forum users, find myself preferring to use Discord for most things, like sharing Tanki screenshots or looking for advice. I imagine that most young users find forums to be a boring and outdated method of online socialisation, and I don't blame them. But yeah, I do miss the times when there were 200-400 people on the forum at the same time. And that's "in the past 5 minutes", mind you. Now that's set to "in the past 30 minutes".

    Ideas for Turrets!

I renamed it just now, but we don't typically rename topics with "merge" tag since they will soon get merged anyway.

    Ideas for Turrets!

Well, they're quite good, but nothing particularly original as far as ideas go.
