  1. For aesthetic reasons you can hide your own drone via settings. It will still be visible to others though, if they have the setting to show drones enabled.
  2. ^ This. Topics like this never head in a good direction — not ten years ago, not today. Feel free to discuss issues with chat moderation in PM with chat administrators: @rommeltanki or @DarkOperative Closed
  3. I don't know this exact issue, but I remember back in like 2018 there was an update that changed mechanics of Vulcan, and it created this bizarre bug where if the person you were shooting suddenly left the battle, every single player in the battle would crash, except for the Vulcan shooter. So you could get a friend into the enemy team, wait for a gold box to drop, and then shoot him and have him leave. Everyone else would crash and you'd have the battle (and the gold box) to yourself. Obviously that's bug abuse and could land you in a lengthy block, but it was funny and so weird. Even weirder that people actually discovered it and quickly found out how to replicate it.
  4. Moderators decide, mostly by applying common sense, which you can do too. I recommend starting with the definitions: Constructive criticism: Focus on providing constructive feedback, supported by specific examples, to help you improve in some area. Constructive criticism should be offered in a friendly manner with good intentions. Unconstructive criticism: Not serving to promote improvement or advancement. Unconstructive advice doesn't help you figure out what to do, and unconstructive criticism is generically critical, without giving you any ideas for how to make it better. You cannot. Calling someone a "noob" is an insult. Except if it's a joke, but I'd be careful with insulting jokingly as well, because it often comes off the wrong way and the person you're addressing gets offended anyway.
  5. Yes, insults are against the rules, and a message doesn't have to contain profanity to be an insult. Yes, unconstructive criticism is banable. I think there must be a misunderstanding here. Chat mods never banned players for asking innocent questions, unless you go out of your way to spam the question everywhere. But in that case you get banned for spam, not for asking questions. The key word is "unconstructive criticism", which is different from "negative criticism". Constructive criticism is welcome and we have official communication channels where you can express it.

In your opinion, how useful is the mini-map radar, and the Hornet overdrive (wallhack)?

So I've been thinking about this for a while, especially now that I play with Vacuum Thunder a lot. How many players understand and actively use the in-game abilities to see enemies, who are otherwise obscured? I'm talking about the minimap radar that everyone has to the right of their supply bar, and Hornet's overdrive ability, which not too long ago got buffed to an impressive 90-second duration. Seeing as both of those abilities are readily available at all times (one is always there, and the other can potentially be used non-stop), it makes me think that developers either don't see them as particularly useful, or they think that most players won't bother to take advantage of them. To me personally, Hornet's ability is one of the most poweful in the game. A Hornet (or two) camping at base and providing non-stop wallhack to the whole team gives that team a massive advantage over the enemy, such as being able to avoid encounters when escaping with the flag, seeing a potential ambush, and seeing enemies before you turn the corner. The minimap is less useful, especially since it doesn't show context of the surrounding map. But still, it can give you valuable information regarding teammates and enemies behind your back, as well as enemies hiding behind obstacles nearby. Fun fact: I've actually been accused of hacking at least twice, when people noticed that I somehow always know where they are despite them hiding behind a building. What's your own take on this?
  7. Depends on how much health the Mammoth has, and the direction it's travelling relative to the Ares ball. If the Ares ball can get enough ticks of damage on the Mammoth to kill it before hitting its AT-field, Ares ball wins. Otherwise, Mammoth wins. I imagine the Mammoth would have to be on between 1000-2000 hp to die to the ball before destroying it.
  8. In my experience, the dictator user either just keeps the supercharge effect for himself (i.e. uses it when it's convenient for him, disregarding teammates), or uses it on a bunch of teammates when the supercharge effect doesn't even help much due to lack of enemies. I think Dictator was far more useful when it gave teammates OD charge. I understand that there were balance issues with that mechanic, but before I would actually always let a Dictator take the OD box to share its effects, and now I actually get annoyed when a Dictator player takes every OD box because he thinks he's more useful them.
  9. Fortunately, Vacuum augment has no balance issues whatsoever /s

    Ideas for Game Modes!

So we've had this idea multiple times before, and I always ask this one question: Imagine you join a battle like that, and you're immediately killed by some Shaft as soon as you spawn. What do you do? Spectate for the next 5 minutes while a couple campers hide on opposite sides of the map and drag out the battle? Without drastically changing existing gameplay mechanics, it would be not as fun as you imagine.
  12. Valid Is parkour even possible at all these days? I feel like there's still a lot of weird behaviour of tanks flying through the air (like Hopper OD, or just jumping off a big bridge) even in the PC version, so I don't know if it's really improved at all.
  13. There are plans to improve the clan system, but they have been postponed in favour of more urgent updates.

    Ricochet HD

@Kimura @firety31 Doesn't seem like you guys have a lot of experience creating 3D models. I have some (I do BIM for a living), so allow me to explain. Simply creating the shapes to form an object that looks like an HD turret or hull skin is pretty easy, but even if you have the SD skin to base your model on, you still have to go through a design process to decide exactly how you will turn those low-poly details into high definition. Creating a model like that would probably take around 2-6 hours, depending on the artist's skill. But it's not enough to just create a good-looking model like that. Tanki has strict requirements for how many polygons a skin is allowed to have. So you can spend all the time in the world creating a super cool skin that shows off every tiny detail, but if the skin has a million polygons and causes insane lags in battles — it's no good. It needs to go through a lengthy optimisation process to reduce the number of polygons while keeping all the important details. Then let's not forget that the whole thing needs to be textured. It's not enough to randomly slap some "metallic" and "chrome" finishes on various parts. You have to study how the skin looks from different angles, in different lighting, at various distances and graphics settings. Then you have to give it proper texture to make it look like a battle-worn surface. And then there's another complex and lengthy optimisation process of making textures appear three-dimensional, so that you can create an illusion of high detail while reducing the number of polygons even further. Ok great, so now 2-3 weeks passed and you have a cool 3D model. But wait, it needs to be functional! It will take at least another week to add animations, and to actually define how the model works within the game — which parts move, where the shots come from, which parts are covered by the custom paints, how the bullet casings fall out... And now comes the fun part — bug testing. You have to check if your model actually works with the game's graphics, whether it reduces FPS, and if it causes the game to glitch or crash in a plethora of different ways (yes, that can happen even though it's "just a skin"). So that's easily another week spent on that. So there you go — one or two months and 300 man-hours spent on creating a "simple" HD skin. If you wanna work for $10 per hour to do that — be my guest. But something tells me that a skilled self-respecting artist capable of making 3D models like that is gonna demand a lot, LOT more.
  15. My goal was only to explain, and I wasn't trying to convince you of anything. But I'm always happy to see people, who are willing to accept feedback and reconsider their own point of view ?
  16. Because the demand is there. This happens all the time in software development, where the devs, for example, allow users to make modifications to the standard version of their software, but they warn users in advance that software with such modifications is unsupported and they may experience issues using it. It's similar here — custom PRO battles are available to play, but their custom nature means that they do not reflect the way the game is intended to be played. As such, playing that way may cause issues, which developers already addressed in the "standard" game. That's not to say that game crashes are acceptable, but OP claims that the crashes are intentionally caused to make players lose crystals, and I'm explaining that it's not the case.
  17. Short answer: yes. If you want a long answer, feel free to PM me. Closed.
  18. Just wait, I guess. The idea has already been forwarded to devs, and, frankly, it's such an obvious thing that I'm 100% certain that developers considered it. So the reason those augments are not visible in the garage must either be by design (i.e. intentional), or because of some weird software limitation.
  19. I guess you haven't met me in battle lately ?
  20. Yes, yesss, please continue to ignore the menace that is Vacuum Shells ?

    New skin: Viking GT

My main concern is that those blue headlights are still just decoration, and don't actually light up the road ahead. Pretty sure in most countries that violates traffic code and makes the vehicle illegal on roads.
  22. As fun as that sounds, the benefit of having such an event doesn't justify the difficulty in implementing it.
  23. That's what we used to have. Opex experimented a lot with giving hulls different parameters to make them feel different, but in the end they all ended up mostly the same, with the main difference being HP and speed. That's why they decided to standardise the stats (same HP and speed for hulls in one category), but give them different overdrives. Overdrive allows them to keep adding new hulls and maintain uniqueness. Besides, overdrive has such a significant impact on gameplay, that it would ruin any possible strategy when you have no idea which overdrive the enemy has installed. Obvious example: you play with Hunter (using EMP overdrive) and you see an Ares driving towards you. Ares is starting to charge his OD, so you press shift to charge your EMP because you expect him to shoot a ball, which you will deactivate using your EMP. But no, instead the Ares jumps like Hopper, and kills you instantly. So you just wasted an OD, when instead you could have backed away to dodge and survive. It would be frustrating as hell.
