So could I, except this is not one of those updates. You don't need to spend cash to get Magnum MAX. As a matter of fact — we do, and I've been playing quite a lot in the past few days. Magnum doesn't seem particularly OP, and I only find myself using a module against it when there's a lot of them in the enemy team, which would be the same thing I'd do for any turret. And as for the numbers, I only found a small increase in the number of Magnum users I've encountered so far. I assume that most buyers have Premium account, and therefore crystals are easy to acquire for them. Therefore, they buy and upgrade most equipment items anyway, just for the sake of owning them (because that's what buyers do), and regardless of whether they are OP or not. Over-buffing an item to increase its sales is a very short-term and ineffective way to generate revenue, since it will only work once for each turret on one person's account. I stand by my word that the Magnum buff wasn't a direct sales strategy.

Do people even buy crystals from the shop anymore? I agree that the container nerf was a massive punch in the gut for F2P players' crystal income, but even despite that, crystals are still pretty easy to get. Upgrading Magnum from Mk1 to Mk7 with a 30% discount costs just 270k crystals. I think that's a reasonable amount for a F2P to have on hand just in case. Either way, I don't believe the idea of using balance changes to intentionally skew balance to generate revenue is reasonable. It's all about skins and augments now.

Are the developers being petty by giving us only 14 Ultra Containers?

Just confirmation bias. Opening 15 at once feels like it gives better rewards, but it's exactly the same as any other combination. As frederik said above, you are guaranteed to get at least one "epic" item for every 15 UCs you open, regardless of how you open them. Though as someone who just likes satisfying round numbers, I agree that always being 1 short of being able to open 15 containers in these events is rather annoying. -
Money? For an item anyone can buy with crystals? I don't see the logic here. They didn't even add any new augments or skins for Magnum to go along with the buff. Hmm. We'll see. But if it was a business strategy, then I would add the augments first and then buff the turret to further encourage people to buy it.

I'm curious what was the reason to give Magnum such a massive buff all of a sudden. Based on numbers alone it seems like the stats are essentially going back to the 2017 days when Magnum was first added and was insanely OP. Crusader OD buff is nice, though I'd rather see the impact calculation get fixed. Otherwise the damage might as well be a million, because it's equally frustrating when you get a great opportunity for a multi-kill, but the icicle seemingly just phases through enemy tanks. Hornet buff is underrated, imo. A single Hornet camping in the back lines and constantly using OD to provide radar for the team will be very powerful now in all game modes, and particularly in capture modes. Wall hacks are OP.

Yeah, EMP got a massive advantage over AP recently because now you can just immediately cancel AP if you have RK available. But the advantage of the current system over what you suggest is that you refresh your supply duration (except mine and RK) when you get EMPd, and the disadvantage is that you have to wait up to 10 seconds to get full supplies again, because of smart cooldowns. I honestly don't know which is better — I'm a filthy Crisis user so it doesn't affect me anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is awesome, can't wait to see. Didn't we have this before? ? Well there goes my main... Time to finally learn RRE perhaps? There goes my other main... Except not really, cos long range healing is still ridiculously OP ? Interesting improvement, but Hopper's physics are still attrocious. Not going back to it #re-old-hopper Now this is big. Might actually switch from Crusader back to Ares now. I see a pattern emerging. Let me guess, you're gonna keep reducing it by 0.1s per update until it gets to zero? ?

These Special Event battle modes make me think of how great TO could be...
Maf replied to Generalissimo in Archive
Thing is, Tanki needs to balance between generating revenue, and offering a fun experience for everyone. The game relies on people buying tankoins to upgrade their equipment and gain an upper hand over their opponent. It can't throw that business model out of the window and just give everyone equal equipment at all times. These semi-regular fair special modes we have at the moment are already a significant improvement over what we had previously, where the only alternative to P2W matchmaking battles are PRO battles, where it's can be hard to even fill a 4v4 battle you want. Having these modes once every couple weeks isn't the best, but it's still something. Let's not "think of how great TO could have been", but instead enjoy these modes while they're here. -
If you had the capability of reversing a single update, which would it be?

Well here's some shocking news for you: I am Russian.

I wrote most of this in my 10k posts topic, but here we go again: My first game was in 2011, and it was on Boombox, which used to be one of two starter maps (the other being Sandbox). I clearly remember one specific scene, where I loaded into the battle (got absolutely blown away by the fact that a 3D game is available for free in a browser with no install), spawned in the corner, looked around, and saw a Titan Twins M0 firing randomly in all directions. I remember thinking that it must be some super OP tank that's really difficult to obtain. Days later I bought Firebird (so that was my second turret), then got that exact Titan Twins M0, then got Railgun, and then finally figured out that it's better to upgrade one piece of equipment instead of buying every single new M0. Got Twins to M3, bought Hornet, then Rico, then Viking, and ended up upgrading Rico Viking to M2/M3 respectively before the 2012 Rebalance. Back in MY DAY, the first hull was Wasp! My second hull was Titan. The first time I saw a Railgun was on Short Bride - he stood on top of the bridge and destroyed anything that spawned below. I was extremely impressed. It was also the first battle where I learned about self-destruction, because I flipped myself and there were no enemies to kill me, so the kind people in chat told me about pressing delete. Super long battle on Bridges that lasted like 3 hours. From my team the only dedicated players left were myself and another guy. Everyone else just came and left. Back then the golds dropped at every 700 fund. Side note — it was actually random between 700-720 fund, which is why gold diggers would go from battle to battle looking for one that was around 700 fund, and if they joined and the fund was like 710, they would ask "gold was?", and if people said that gold didn't drop, they'd go occupy the gold drop location (which was always one per map) and take the gold. Anyway, we were coming up on 1400 fund, and this other dude already got the gold at 700 fund, so he agreed to help me catch the 1400 one. We occupied the middle of the map, placed mines, and... well, I got the gold. It was very underwhelming now that I think about it: no epic fight, no last-second catch before dying, no epic parkour tricks — it just spawned right above me and fell on my tank. But I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I didn't even think to take a screenshot. I do have a pic of the second one which I tried to take, but the viking twins got that one >_< Bonus pic:

This really reminds me of the method NASA used to land Curiosity and Perseverance rovers on Mars. I wonder if this served as inspiration for the drone parachutes... This is what actually happened in real life, by the way. One of the coolest engineering contraptions ever.

So how did you deal with every turret having variable damage in every single shot prior to the critical update?
-
Depends on the kind of turrets the enemy has, but generally Armadillo is very powerful: Up to 50% protection against half of Railgun shots Up to 50% protection against powerful double damage crits from Striker, Freeze, Firebird, Vulcan, Gauss, Mines Up to 50% protection from 7-25% of all shots It may not have been useful back when it was first added, but with crits playing a larger role in gameplay with every balance update, Armadillo is gradually going from a gimmick to an essential piece of equipment. I just hate the fact that devs added the 4th augment slot, but instead of giving more freedom for protection combos, the slot is basically required for Armadillo.
-
Well duh — the critical damage got increased.
-
I buy all battle passes, sometimes the 1990tk bundles and any other good, cheap bundles, I often spend a lot on buying UCs when there's a 50% discount on them (which is pretty much just black friday). Sometimes buy 30 coinboxes just to see how bad they can get ? But right now I'm saving up for a potential new update that might add new unlockable items, similar to protection slots. This is total speculation on my part, but I suspect that the mid-game garage changing feature will be replaced by something tankoin-based, and there might also be a second hull augment slot or something.

It means that the external service that provides Tanki with the ability to show ads to mobile users has been malfunctioning lately, so devs decided to remove the ad rewards system altogether until the issue is resolved. Tanki Online actually gets significant revenue from players watching their ads, so disabling that system to give players less free stuff would make no sense whatsoever. I remember when shards first came out, I did some research and found out that reward ads (the kind where you volunteer to watch a 30 second unskippable ad to get a reward) give about 12 cents per view to the provider, so a player watching 10 such ads to get one free container actually earned Tanki about $1.20 in ad revenue.

Yeah, I had this happen to me a few times before. But that's also mostly impractical nowadays. Would require some insane timing to align the dome placement with the icicle flying into the zone, again - due to the 1.1 second delay.
-
Just wanna point out that this is completely impractical now due to both hulls having equal charge-up delays. It would only happen if the Crusader happened to activate his OD just after the Titan. Agree with everything else though.
-
I had one today where I was aiming at a guy on a ledge above me, and the guy moved back a tiny bit just as I fired, and the icicle flew over his head. Could have been a triple kill...
