If you want to know exactly what turret to choose, you'll just have to go around and check every enemy's modules. Perhaps they should increase the range of the R key information banner, but even when there were paints, I doubt that it was possible to recognise every single paint when the tank was beyond the nickname display range. This update was aimed for making the game easier for new players and yes, it does make it harder for old players, who now have to get used to the less convenient system, compared to remembering all paints. That I can't deny.
-
Why is it still overpowered?
-
Wait, what?

I think they did say that the paints will (or might) be reconsidered. I'm pretty sure they will change the rank limits of the paints so that they get prettier and more expensive towards higher ranks, instead of the random order now. Paint prices might change too, although that's unlikely. I do actually think they should do an official poll asking players to rate the paints based on their design and use the results to assign their prices and order, otherwise we end up with prices based off of the devs' own opinions. For example I think that Lumberjack should be a lot less expensive and Swash - a lot more. As for the actual prices - those are completely fair and shouldn't be changed. Paints no longer give players any advantage in battles, so not being able to afford a 500k paint does not impede your winning potential. Paints have become exclusive cosmetic items just like XT equipment and we'll just have to get used to it.
-
No, they don't. If they want protection Zeus used to have, they can just buy the Badger T-G module for 250k. The paint itself is not necessary.
-
Wait wait wait, you do realise that mods also have to change turrets to adapt to the enemies' protection, right? There's no difference here. Having millions of crystals and a 20% paint wouldn't help anyone with THAT particular aspect of gameplay. I actually don't see what you mean here. No changes have been made to hulls' or weapons' parameters and if you had 50% (or whatever) protection from Hammer before, you still have the module for it now. There shouldn't be any difference.

I too have this problem, but it just seems like the kind of thing that just takes getting used to. Shouldn't be too big of a problem for many players, since a lot of them only have 1 or maybe 2-3 turrets they use. If you use just 1 turret, you have nothing to worry about and now it's even easier for you to play since you know the exact protection of the tank in front of you. If you usually play with 2-3 turrets and notice that too many players have protection from you, just change to another gun and hope that there will be less protections from it. After all, with just a 1-minute delay between changes and the ability to see all protections from your gun in Tab, it's really easy to tell if the gun you are using is effective or not. I mean, it's not like before the update you could keep track of 12 paints and get a gun based on that, right?

Read my long post with the translation of a Russian FAQ topic about this update. A lot of things players are complaining about will definitely be changed, and some are likely to change. 48 hours is nowhere near enough time to collect proper feedback, analyse it and come up with a list of changes that will be made, so there was no way such a list could be announced in the V-log less than 2 days after the update. Way too early to jump to conclusions right now.

Mmm... Broccoli pizza is best pizza ^_^

It's a bug caused by the disappearance of paints from the profiles. Will be fixed in an upcoming bug-fix update, so no worries :) Please leave feedback about the update in the news section as it is more likely to be noticed there. Closed.

Sorry about those two posts. I think it was just poor choice of words on my part that lead to this misunderstanding. In the first post I wasn't implying that players were stupid, I was trying to say that developers thought it was obvious that the paint's protection was temporary and decided that there was no need to make any notices that the protection may be removed. Turns out that most players didn't understand that and were now caught by surprise when finding the news, so it's not the players' fault for not knowing, but the devs' fault for not realising that those things need a lot of prior notice. The "deal with it" was just wrong in every way. I just wanted to emphasise the fact that the decision to remove the protection has been made and it's very unlikely that it will be revoked, so we'll just have to accept it and try to adapt to the changes. So yeah, as bydolord likes to say - "not trying to provoke anyone - just stating my opinion" :) I'm not sure what lead you to assume that I refuse to accept players' concerns. I made multiple posts saying that developers will/might reconsider some of the changes they made based on the feedback they received from players, but otherwise I was just trying to explain developers' logic about some of the changes, because many players appeared to be confused about why certain changed were made. So again, sorry for giving you a wrong impression of my intentions and I hope we can continue this discussion in a civilised manner to provide developers with sensible and organised feedback which they can later use to make appropriate changes :)
-
Sorry about that. I think I just misunderstood your intention and then lost my cool. I mean, I don't really mind you discussing me, just felt like adding a cheesy note in the end about the fact that you quoted me. Don't take it the wrong way please :)

Guys, if you still think I only posted positive feedback about the update because I swore to support and defend developers no matter what they do, you're wrong. I was genuinely looking forward to this update and thought it was a good idea. Sure, the way developers implemented it wasn't perfect and a lot of things could be better (the R key, the fact that custom modules can't be assembled...), but generally the update has a lot more benefits and drawbacks to it. And if you're going to discuss me behind my back, make sure to not quote my posts so that I don't get notifications

They are still about the announcement, therefore relevant.
-
They didn't know when or if this update was going to be released, so they couldn't announce it prematurely.

IKR, baffles me too. I'm OK with Premium and I think that they were added in a very fair way, In fact, I actually think that they don't have enough special features at the moment, for example there should be more cosmetic items, more unique content (perhaps premium-only battle options) and, like I mentioned in a previous post, I think all XT equipment should be available to use as long as a player has premium. I do agree with you that there should have been a notice about this long before the update, but unfortunately that's not how Tanki developers do things. Their plans seem to change quite rapidly, so it's possible that they decided to remove the 15% hours before the update and couldn't possibly give longer notice. Although I doubt that was the case. No, I don't think that players shouldn't have the same protection as the rewards that mods get, but a lot of players do think it's unfair and I understand them. Removing 15% protection shouldn't affect buyers so much that they stop buying premium. Especially considering that there will be a replacement bonus for it, as I mentioned before. Most Premium players already have a ton of paints in their garage and never really used the premium paint anyway. I'm sure a lot of them are happy now because they can use the paint while combining it with some of their more powerful modules.
-
And I hold to my answer. The reason they added it is because if the paint had no protections in the first place, it would be useless and no Premium players would want to use it. There would be complaints saying "why did I pay for this rubbish paint that has no protections? If I use it I will be cannon fodder in every normal battle! It's useless!", so developers had to give it some generic protection to make it possible to use. They decided to go with a mediocre 15%, so that the paint would become an average protection that can be used by lazy players, who can't be bothered to change their paint for every occasion. As someone described it - "Jack of all trades, master of none".
-
Nowhere does it say that part of the Premium account's cost is for the 15% in the paint. You don't get a receipt listing the prices of each individual item on the Premium account's list, so there is no reason to assume that the 15% protection was included in the cost.
-
In other games - maybe. Tanki devs still try to keep this game from turning into pay-to-win, therefore no item bought for real money should ever give a gameplay advantage over others. In this game you spend money to save time grinding and to buy fancy good-looking cosmetics to stand out and look cool. You don't buy victory.
-
It was never needed. 15% isn't something premium players really needed or deserved. At high ranks the paint is basically useless and at low ranks it's OP. If developers could make it so that the paint had no protection and could somehow be applied on top of other paints, they would have done it. But due to the way paints work, the only way they could add a special paint and not make it a piece of trash that nobody would use was by giving it protection.
-
...and a lot of people UNhappy. Remember when premium was added? We had hundreds of players raging in the exact same way, saying things like "15% protection is extremely OP at low ranks" and "Premium paint gives 15% protection to players who simply pay, which is unfair to those who earned their protections in other special paints like Helper, Acid, Silver, etc." Those people are now satisfied because the paint's protection got removed and instead we have people like you complaining about the change. You see the problem here? It's impossible to make everyone happy - no matter how developers change something, there will always be people to complain about it. This update benefits more people that it disappoints, so you are the minority. You will get another bonus to replace the paint's protection, but the 15% is not coming back. What can I say? Deal with it.

I mentioned it a few times and now that information it a bit more.. confirmed. It went from "might happen" to "will likely happen", but no promises are being made yet. As for sales - there are always sales coming at some point, not anytime soon though.
