Tesla Autopilot is only level 3-4 autonomy and is already 30% safer than human drivers (by number of accidents per 1 million miles driven). Another extremely important factor is that if every single car is autonomous and constantly communicating with all other cars via a giant traffic network, it completely solves the issue of unpredictability of other vehicles on the road. If every car knows the exact intention of other cars nearby, then there is no need to account for things like reaction time, safe follow distance, traffic lights, etc. You may have seen this (obviously edited) video: With full autonomy crossroads like that can become reality, improving traffic flow by a large factor. Then there should be independent systems in place which would take over control and bring the car to a safe stop, proceeded by specialised crew coming to evacuate or repair the vehicle. We already have plenty of non-vehicular autonomous systems which follow similar protocols.

What's your opinion on the future of self-driving cars?
Maf replied to Maf in What's your opinion on the future of self-driving cars? Archive
I've been thinking for a while how self-driving (autonomous) vehicles will be integrated into our world, assuming it will happen at all. At the moment the only type of autonomous traffic used on a mass scale is trains, particularly metro trains (Vancouver, Dubai, Singapore...), which run on separate inaccessible tracks and basically just speed up and slow down, stopping at designated stations. This was possible to achieve because there are very few variables to consider, since there is no interaction with human vehicle operators, no edge cases, and nothing that would require human level of decision-making. With cars it's much more complicated, which is why I don't see driverless cars completely taking over the roads in the near future (within 20 years). Tesla is making significant progress with their publicly available Autopilot system, while companies like Uber and Waymo are developing their fully autonomous navigation systems. But all of them are still very far from achieving full self-driving capability (for reference). What I think is going to happen instead, is that select cities will start dedicating specific districts to autonomous vehicles. Those could be brand new developments, which integrated autonomy in their design from the start, or refurbished city centres. The way they would adapt is by having things like near-perfect road/sign maintenance, additional barriers to minimise number of pedestrians on roads, special traffic rules, and built-in guidance systems (like beacons) to help guide autonomous cars along the city streets. That way, autonomous vehicle owners would be driving with normal level 3 automation (like today's Tesla Autopilot) on most roads, but when entering autonomous areas, their vehicle would automatically go into fully autonomous mode. Drivers of normal vehicles would be restricted access to such zones, and would have to make use of park-and-ride services to get into the zone via autonomous public transport. Such areas would be experimental at first (like that Singapore cargo dock), and will gradually expand to populated areas, eventually covering the span of cities. I can't wait to see something like this become reality. As far as places like small town roads and villages - there's too many of them to adapt and maintain them all for autonomous vehicles and it would be too expensive, and there's too many edge cases for autonomous cars to be able to navigate them like a human, so it will be decades before this is achieved, if ever. What do you think with happen? -
Single Viking or Hornet Shaft combo (with OD) does the trick. It's worse if they have lifesaver drone, but then with Hornet you either shoot him twice before the drone recharges, or get a friend in and shoot him at the same time.

That's not how that rule is enforced. First of all, I'm not sure if they enforce it at all anymore, especially in MM battles. But even if they do, it's only for large modification differences, like having a full M3 garage and using your only M0/M1 combo. So there's absolutely no issue with using equipment a couple Mk modifications lower than the best thing you own.

Yeah, definitely seems unpopular. Devs added overdrives specifically with the intent of making them each hull's pièce de résistance. So yes, the overdrive is the hull's primary feature, while everything else is just numbers, which you can get used to if you really want to use that OD. The only exception for me is Wasp vs Hornet. Wasp's bomb is pretty useless in most cases (at least compared to Hornet's OD), but I still use it because I find Hornet to be impossibly difficult to control due to its drift.

Yeah, in fact I would prefer if the view quickly changed to top-town for 5 seconds and then quickly went to my respawn location, instead of slowly panning across the whole map.

This is because the turret-specific achievements haven't been updated to the new modifications system yet. It's not an important issue, but it will likely be fixed sometime soon.

I don't see anything missing.

Answer is pretty simple - the ratings don't display drone usage minutes accurately. From what I understand, drone usage (time and experience) only counts when the drone is active and ready to be used (i.e. not on cooldown, and flying over your tank), while the battery timer is counting down regardless of whether or not the drone is ready. So with that system, the only drone which accurately displays time and experience is Brutus, since has no cooldown and is always active. Other drones probably show around 5-50% of their usage depending on how effectively the player uses them. My drone usage shows around 120 hours total, which can't be right because I played more than 120 hours in the last 2 years and used drones all the time since around September 2018.

You can still keep using your "new" account. None of the information from either of them will be lost once I merge them.

Topic merged I have a feeling this is exactly what's planned. Not certain though.

They have to be careful with how many skins are being released, because the more skins become available, the less exclusive they are. If too many skins are released, then we will see the same situation as with paints, where even new animated paints are mundane these days due to there being so many other similar paints. With this new change skins will become available twice as quickly, so it's already a significant a major step towards adding more skins, if that's what you want.

It's harmful because by having the same account they are effectively cutting their payments in half. So unless they both want to play at the same time, they can just use the same account and buy everything on it, instead of having to buy each item twice on separate accounts. Sharing over the internet can be proven using IP addresses, while real life sharing obviously cannot be proven at all, so in that case the rule cannot really be enforced.

valid Ability to chat with others after battle ends
Maf replied to Adnan34u in Ideas and Suggestions
Valid Wow, I didn't even realise the battle end was so abrupt in HTML5. This is definitely a problem, and the easiest solution is to just add the chat to the end screen. -
No, the topic stays as it is. The idea will be completed when the song gets put on the media page ?

Unfortunately that's just how the conversion was set to happen. At the moment developers do not accept any requests to increase or decrease modifications (besides reverting Wasp to Mk1), and there are no plans to do so. As for XP/BP - after the update only Mk7 tanks are allowed to participate, and protection modules are not needed. You can discuss formats in this topic. Closed

Not a bug. It's the new spawn protection mechanic, where if you try to shoot an enemy tank right after they respawn, you won't deal any damage and the indicator will show zero. The effect lasts for about 2 seconds after they stop being transparent.

@Viking4s explained it well, but to put it in simpler terms — it is more beneficial for the economy to sell stuff for tankoins instead of crystals, because tankoins are a premium currency. In the end the crystal price is still much cheaper because, unlike tankoins, you can actually realistically earn crystals in battles for free. There is not much else to discuss here. You can talk about kits in this topic. Closed

There was a rumour that whoever locks this topic will instantly lose 300 IQ points, hence the forum mods avoided it. Fortunately for me, I got nothing left to lose ? Closed.

Valid I wonder if it's possible to compose decent music cheap enough that they make a profit from it by adding it to challenges (or selling it for TKs). Regardless, this is a cool idea and I've even seen it implemented in other games (Fortnite).

And so the mystery remains unsolved...
