    Let's Discuss Striker!

Striker damage (single missile) does 665-817 damage at m3 while Thunder does 650-900. Thunder has better avg damage. Striker reload is better but - Thunder will hit moving targets way more often since it has no travel time. Striker missiles are too slow to be effective against moving targets at anything beyond medium range.
  2. Lock-on ("aiming") time actually does decrease with M-level. But I agree it takes too long and needs a tweak. I rarely get off salvos against enemies on speed (basically all enemies). Striker is waaay more effective in Pro-battles with supplies off. If the usefulness of a weapon changes that much then there is an overall issue. I just did some calculations and the improvements from one M-level to next M-level are... 4% 3% 3% 4% Which is terrible. Hull speed increase are more in the 5% range. So going up in M-level Striker actually loses ground - not even counting Speed Boost usage that increases with rank overall.

    Splash damage protection module

maybe we agree but have crossed lines... I'm not suggesting "Splash" be one of the 3 slots in a triple module. I'm suggesting Splash be a single module that protects only against Splash damage. At least that sounds like what the OP intended. I don't think replacing full protections from 3 modules and substituting all Splash is worth it - but some might.

    Splash damage protection module

Considering ANY module with Thunder protection already offers protection against direct hit and Splash damage how is this any worse? There is already modules that offer protection versus Striker + Magnum or Thunder + Striker - it's only a matter of time before more Magnum modules are offered - Thunder+Striker+Magnum could easily be one of those. So how is offering Splash versus those 3 and including the miniscule protection you'd get from twins or Rico splash make it that much worse? I'd rather have a module that protects versus all damage from Thunder + Magnum + 1 other turret than this Splash-only protection.

    Splash damage protection module

Not so sure - if it only protects from the SPLASH damage. Direct hits = no protection at all... At best you take 200 splash damage instead of 400 splash damage. But if the Striker missile hits you = full damage. Would affect Magnum the most since it has splash radius the size of a ball-park. Would hardly affect Twins - it's radius is quite small.

What to buy? Which is better?

For isida depends on the team. If you are trying to heal a bunch of light hulls that 1) keep moving around a lot and/or 2) keep dying before you can heal then not so much score. If you find a big fat Mammoth Vulcan that constantly equips DA - that's gold Jerry. Gold!

    Let's Discuss Striker!

it seems firing blindly into areas where tanks are "likely" to be is almost as effective as actually trying to target enemies.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

So does this mean you will stop posting screen-shots every time you want to toot your own horn?

All this can be accomplished without eSports.
  10. Thunder M1 better be good - it unlocks at W04. Some M2s start to unlock shortly after that... Oh yeah - Stinger kit at same rank. :o

    Complaint Book

Played a battle at warrant officer level. Was 9 vs 6 (us) in TDM. And there was a player on my team that at one point was 0 - 16 - 0. He/she spotted the other team 16 kills. And either that was the fasted 16 deaths in 2 minutes or that "player" was keeping the tank in game by moving it around periodically so system would not give it the boot. So really was 9 vs 5. Worse than 9 vs 5 since if that mult was not there enemies prob would have had less 'easy' kills.

Legends - Stop Being Like This

Getting to Legend 1 or 2 takes ~ one to two years, so experience isn't much of a factor. But you can blame Devs for us joining battles with non-M4 equipment. There needs to be a division of Legend ranks. I'm certainly not delighted to fight Legend 25s while I'm Legend 1. But I don't have much of a choice.
  13. What is it designed for? Loses to Rail/Magnum/Shaft/Thuder at long range Loses to ALL short-range turrets at short range Not really better than Ricco or Twins with Alt at medium range. Smoky has a very small range of effectiveness vs other turrets. They took too many teeth out of it over past couple years. That's why you don't see nearly as many smokys as Ricco. It's only current advantage is that many players don't equip a smoky module because of it's relative "rarity".

And how often are they exactly 21-25m away from target? It would be almost impossible for freeze/Fire to keep isida in that narrow band while isida has the 0-20m range for better effect. In a perfect world (ie large map, no obstacles) freeze might be able to maintain that 5m advantage. Might. But who fights on a completely flat terrain with no obstacles? My money is on Isida. It certainly is not more popular because it's terrible...

You forgot to mention what you give up to get that extra range. Alterations are give to get. Also costs extra crystals to get it, but that's relatively minor. Those must be the m1-alterations for freeze and firebird right? Do those alts increase minmum damage range? You understand Isida does maximum damage over the entire range right? It has no min/max - just damage. So even with those last equipped Isida still has better range - and freeze & fire can no longer effectively damage multiple enemies. Not really sure why anyone would equip those alts...

Isida has better range (no damage reduction over distance) than Firebird or Freeze. Isida can get into trouble when fighting heavy hull with protection module. M3 heavy = 3376 M3 isida at 5 seconds does 4410. versus stock M3 module at 35% it does 2866 damage. Can't kill a heavy hull. versus 40% m3 module it does 2646 damage so now it struggles versus medium with 2529 health. versus 45% m3 module it does 2425 and now can't kill medium hull. Only change I would see as reasonable would be to lower the DPS but - increase the attack time - so it does more overall damage on a full tank of ammo. I would not increase the DPS though, as it is already quite high.

Legends - Stop Being Like This

For ranks < Legend having less battles to choose from - but tanks of your rank - is better than many battles that all have legends. No point in having unlimited battles to choose from if they are all chock-full of tanks many ranks above yours. Even if your team has legends, a General (or whatever) is less likely to get a good score because they have a more difficult time killing enemies.

    Let's Discuss Micro-Upgrades!

Yeah - it used to be much more expensive to MU items after you bought the kit. many did it slowly because of the cost. I don't think they've really considered what happens now with the components in kits after they are unlocked. If someone upgrades smoky from their Keeper or Striker kit to m1 10/10 - that's theoretically 14 to 16 ranks early. :o Yikes!

    Let's Discuss Hunter!

Yup. That's why i had Hornet and Viking originally - one for speed and one for health/stability. Now Viking is like a flat hornet. Blech.
  21. Odd - I quoted wrong post...
  22. Freeze already slows down hulls that way - so much they can't move if a full tank is used. And being able to rotate turret would make the Freeze useless in many situations.
  23. Rail M3 on a smaller map would still be better than hammer M0. Reload times won't be that far apart :P But the real question is... why are you going to a small map with rail in the first place? Visit the garage first and spend a few crystals on an m2 - or at very least an m1. If you can afford an M3 you can afford an m1 if you must play that map.

Episode 159 of the V-LOG is out!

Of course. Biggest defenders of that ridiculous turret are also the biggest users... They seem to "cry" more about our comments on subject than anything else. As though a nerf to it would end their ability to play. News Flash - ALL turrets received a(many) nerf(s) over time. Smoky & Isida for example. And Vulcan... I also have tow modules with magnum protection - modules don't make it less ridiculous. Modules don't prevent the silly thing from hitting targets on other side of map without reveling itself to danger.
