  1. This is a conclusion of a long term process of moving Viking from position of the most heavy medium hull to the most light medium hull. Viking's balance place was poorly choosen at rebalance. As recent changes fix rank issues of rebalance, we fixing this as well. I am too not found of this kind of swaps, but as I seen end result side by side with old one I can tell that this settings feel more suitable. This statment is arguable and we might never agree on this one, I understand. When I weighted pros and cons I concluded it is worth it. To be clear, I doubt that someone will hate new settings so much he will be forced to buy new hull. Money can never justify poor balance desicions. My idea is that old balance had too much economical influence on final decision to choose between V and H. A fresh look can make a change. As balance changes are there to make a change in how game feel, I decided to go for it. At least I can tell you that this should be last major parameters swap. From now on we will adapt small incremental changes as we do it in TX. Something that was long overdue.

  3. Fun fact about that rebelence thing — back in the day I was one of testers team who have seen Rebalance before update was released. I wasn't employed by Alternativa at a time, to be clear. So, even on test servers Rebalance felt like not a very good idea. There were obvious balance problems and rank problems and... well... it felt poorly designed. When changes were released they were poorly timed as well. It was December, right before New Year celebrations with biggest discounts. Nobody bought anything and stayed with their crystals for a few months. You can guess who did that turned out to be for project revenue. Then Thunder was nerfed despite whole testers team reported it was overpowered before the update. Then they released infamous Update 123 and cut buttle funds... So the fun fact? I quitted the game. Just like many others, I quitted the game after those updates. Somehow (long story) I ended up to be employed by Alternativa. I had a chance to find out why this update even happened. I am obviously can't say much due to NDA, but it will suffice to say that certain people with certain powers loved to revolutionize everything way too much. Rebalance was unnecessary. After all this years I can tell you that much. It was the worst update this game ever experienced. Even after all this years (omg it is FOUR already) there are still things to be corrected after that update. Even the fact that most of active players this game ever had happened after rebalance, changes nothing about it being the worst update. Being frank, this is not how I pictured my experience as a game developer. I thought I could make new awesome games and it will be the best games there is due to my experience with many bad games in the past. Yet, so far my experience was about fixing broken stuff and being hated for that. There are a lot of people who will say that updates only make things worse, but hey, they talk about final nail in the game's coffin every single update since I joined dev team, so... let's skip that part :D Tanki won't die. Games without updates dies. This game got its development back on rails recently. You can tell that by number of updates released only in recent few month. I must apoligizes that almost every recent update in one way or another involved money, it always happens at summer time due to "low" season, but hey! At least we were creative enough to come up with Gold Box idea rather than selling power for money. As summer goes away, development can focus on new things. Like updating gameplay meta with this balance update. And we are still got those new turrets and clan system under development. You can say that new turrets certainly are there for money, but I have to point out one really important thing. New turrets and Alterations (and shop paints and golds e.t.c.) are aimed to be optional items, rather than mandatory. Update 123 was mandatory and wasn't optional. This is very important thing. This shows that there were some lessons learned by dev team. And it works, I can tell you that. If things will keep going this way who knows.. maybe there is a chance to undo bad updates, even worst ones.

  7. Reading this bit made me check what is it in there in the wiki. Well, there is a mistake. Hornet's side acceleration should be 10-14, not 15-24. Hornet will have its signature drifting. It happens, I guess :)

    If you are interested it works like this: Game designer is that one guy who already got every slider in the game. Literally EVERY slider. Sounds fun! But in reality if his task to make a valuable weapon-build 99.9% of slider settings results in garbage. Game designer need to understand how each slider affect every other slider to make anything work. It takes a lot of time and nobody ever know if result is correct. Doing this being fun only for certain people who found of working in spreadsheets (spoiler: not avarage TO player) If game designer wants players to have sliders he need to check literally every single setting with every slider he going to give. This task is enormous and giving that most of the players just do not want to bother at all, this task is a huge waste of time. And if they do decide to bother, 99.9% of their builds will be garbage. This is not fun. Rewards should be rewarding. Garbage doesn't sounds like rewarding stuff :D This is why predetermined alterations works best. Game designer at least can be sure certain settings will be valuable.

    I am sorry but there will be no direct way to convert Cs to Gs. Thing is that Cs are player currency, they represent resources of a single player. Gs are different, they represent resources of a group of players. And Gs are not only Cs combined as a Clan wont be just players being combined. I really can't explain it better than that.

    Only clan base will be able to give bonus stuff. There are no perks outside of it. Thinking of clan currency as obtainable through game, it seems like winning 100 clan battles should on its own give clan an option to build something that gives 'perks'. So yeah.. no need to do same thing in two different ways)

    I always find it really inconvenient when there are several question in one comment but ok. 'Base' is not clan front page. I would like it to be that way, but there will be clan Profile instead with base as an option. Can't do much on Flash, sorry. There surely will be an option to assign positions in clan. If we go up to, say, 100 players per clan, there will be a huge need for management tools. Last question doesn't really make sense for me. I don't understand what you mean.

    It does seems like TS doesn't really understand what alterations exactly do. If you stand before choice of MUing your turrets and alternate your turrets, you should definitely go for MUs. Alterations serves whole another reason. And if we are talk about reasons they are: 1) Money. Ok, can we have that out of the way first? Yes, we are doing many things in this game to create crystals sinks. Monetization is done through this kind of soft pay walls when you don't suppose to have enough crystals to get certain things as fast as buyers do, but we are doing pretty good with not going further than that. Apart from most russian free to play games this days. And we will stay that way. 2) Play the way you like it. Say you love Ricochet, but you can't use it on open maps. What should you do? Buy another turret for this kind of maps or just avoid to play them? I belive you will do the latter. This is when alterations comes into play. If you sure you like your turret and you want to stay with it - this is the way to go. 3) New stuff. Making new turrets takes alot of time. Making a single alteration for existing turret takes two week in worst cases. This is much better way to give you guys new stuff to play with. And to make it clear once again: new stuff is something that keeps this game going. 4) Tinkering with turrets. First you'll get only one alteration per turret. They you'll have another one and you'll find out that you can stack their effects. Then you'll get more alterations and you'll find out that now you need to choose them to stack properly. Then you'll try to break the system to turn one turret into another (you'll find out that in some cases you can do that). You probably won't be able to do that untill end game but this is whole another point behind prices. Alterations are for making your end game more interesting. In early game you can use them inly if you absolutely sure what you are doing. Or you are a buyer. Sorry, but to keep this game simple I have to unlock content gradually, so I can make sure you won't be overwhelmed. I believe players will accuse me for being a greedy developer anyway so.. yeah... this is where I should end my comment.

    So many years around and this game still lacks proper end game т_т Most of the players creates alternate account and start it all over again. Makes sense. Going through early game knowing what's best is almost like a god mode. Still, we need better end game...

If anyone come across asking why does not "greedy developers" allow DCC to affect this offer, tell him this: Commonly players whait for DCC to buy any crystal package, but this special offer should be bought on sight. It would be inconvenient to wait for DCC and it will be super embarrassing if you are novice player and you do bought this one-time-offer without DCC. Therefore we included x2 crystals in this offer itself and disable DCC mechanic in this case. Note that if any new special offer will ever be introduced, it will most likely not be affected by DCC as well.

    Turret: Rocket launcher Vs Artillery.

    As long as prototype is underway I can share some specific information. In normal mode you reload after each shot. Best reference is Twins, which I mentioned above. You also reload after each shot, but every shot is from different barrel. In secondary mode you launch several rockets in a quick sequence. Now many rockets will be launched is not yet finalized. And I never said there going to be only 2 launchers. Best reference for targeting is Vulcan shooting targets. RL's laser targeting will mimic Vulcan's shooting behavior (obviously, RL's laser will not damage anything)

    This brings up another big question of how should we name it. We got no consistent pattern of naming in or game. There are Freeze and Ricochet alongside with Thunder and Vulcan. It would be great to find a suitable name for Rocket Launcher. There should be another naming contest happening on this. But first, we need to make a turret, so tankers can see what they going to name.
