Here was a game I just played. The insane breakdown of futility: They had 4 tanks more powerful than my entire team We had a noob @GS 763 AND we had one less tank, lol Their ENTIRE team was .500 or better We had 3 tanks above .500, half my team had one kill or less "skill" doesn't enter into this battle--regardless of what tank you have in your garage--nor will you come out with anything less than minimal rewards. I just played a game where my 4k tank was in an arena with all 9k+ tanks. I went to my garage and changed into the lowest ranked tank I could find (2k) and played the entire game without using any supplies. We lost. By a lot. Felt so goooood. You want to put my low ranked tank in with legends in a mismatchmaking arena? I'll show you a low ranked tank that hurts his team. And no one on my team had fun that game.
-
Same. I enter and leave at least 5 games or more until I find a game that is slightly even. And even then, sometimes--if I want to punish tanki for wasting my time--I will remain in an insanely uneven game (like to the point of stupidity uneven) press pause and just sit there for 2 minutes, re-enter the game, pause it for 2 minutes, re-enter the game, repeat.
-
Not really. Tanki is better at the cycle of nerfing/buffing turrets/hulls than players are at maxing garages (without buying). It really is that simple.
-
The theory is that the game puts you into an intentionally frantic and panicked state by it's imbalance (life). That 'state' is like a pseudo fight-or-flight response (anxiety). It's during that response that you are most likely to do whatever it takes to survive (willpower). The developers are hoping that 'whatever it takes to survive' happens to be in the form of spending money on the game (temptation). If you are finding it frustrating... it is by design and how tanki makes the most amount of money (pusher). Your enjoyment (or lack thereof) does not really enter the equation (addiction). Stronger-willed players find battle tactics and methods to improve (coping skills). Weaker-willed players purchase augments and other items to improve (drugs). The continual nerf-buff-repeat updates are to continually put you in different fight-or-flight response scenarios (anxiety) to break down those battle tactics and methods (coping skills) depending on the turret/hull/drone/arena/battle-type you have selected (life choices). This ensures that tanki (drug lord) has a continual income stream from the w.w.p. (addicts) and by s.w.p whose (coping skills) have failed them. Here endeth the lesson.

What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
Jeers4U replied to Maf in Game Discussion
Sorry, my friend. I disagree. Posted contrary opinions and views aren't always toxic. They're not. Attacking each other with personal insults? That indeed is toxic. But the other isn't. And I guess a person's moderating preference would depend on what country you come from and what parameters you are confined to. 1. Those who prefer freedom of speech and the ability to express themselves--with positive or negative views--would usually come from a country of the same ideology. 2. Those who prefer strict censorship and silencing of negative or contrary opinions to only 'approved' opinions usually come from a country of that ideology. Strict moderation might create the illusion of a friendly and welcoming environment (for you), but not everyone agrees with that line of thinking. Censoring someone for a view or opinion that tanki doesn't agree with, I feel, is just as unwelcoming and toxic. The communication becomes: Person 1: "Great game, huh?" Person 2: "Yeah." Person 1: "Well that concludes our conversation. Good day." Person 2: "I agree with this approved conversation. Good day." For me, the only toxic part of this discussion so far is the delusional view that anyone can potentially predict the future. -
nah. you're ok. communication--as in life, as in marriages, as in work, as in everything--is good Stifling, stopping, and deleting communication and opinions (even contrary opinions and views) is always a bad thing discussions and feedback can sometimes lead to disagreements--but how naive would a person be if they didn't expect an opposing view? it's what happens after those discussions and disagreements that is important you did nothing wrong
-
I think the takeaway from this discussion, if anyone is still listening, is that the duration length of any event doesn't matter as long as the game is BALANCED. (I also prefer to not 'sugar coat' things and let people live in their 'delusions')
-
And in a significant number of people's opinion here... it hasn't improved over time. Change does not always equal improvement. The only thing that has 'improved' is the methods by which tanki tries to make itself more money.
-
But... you knew this already, right? Like, you didn't need a verbal confirmation of what you suspected for years, did you?
-
Asks for more opinions. Says he isn't one to sugar coat it. But then gets emotional when no one else sugar coats their opinions, lol. ?
-
My complaint is that your answer to my question did not answer my question. And the choice of topics of closure and the speed at which they close lead me to believe you are hiding something.
-
Not all the time. But sometimes. The RU forum is 'pre-moderated'--meaning the RU admins can post whatever they feel like posting to the public. And it looks like they have never actually posted a hacking complaint ever because the entire thread is empty. Shocking. Looks like glasnost never occurred... The entire system of reporting proof of hackers is so convoluted and time-consuming, they should just get rid of it. And while they're at it, get rid of the 'vote' button that they don't seem too interested in investigating anyways.

It's been a while since this phenomenon started. Maybe it isn't an official nerf, but it makes playing this turret even less enjoyable. In addition to the direct-hit-no-damage bug that tanki seems to be inept to fix, there is an occurrence where if you line up an enemy (their tank turns red/yellow/orange), you press spacebar to shoot, and you miss completely. But immediately after the missed shot, the enemy tank is highlighted with the red/yellow/orange outline again. Happens infrequently frequent.

Why are the questions involving moderators banning players for dubious reasons the only ones that are closed? Why is almost every other question still open? And why are you directing their question to a chat admin when it's been proven for YEARS to be an ineffective course of action to take--when the person responsible for the ban is the problem...?

The nerfing of shaft in combination with the 'direct hit, zero damage' bug is astounding that actual programmers can be this inept.
-
They aren't thinking 'long run'--and haven't been for years. They are thinking 'right now'--as in how to make as much money as possible right now.
-
It's to make money. Somehow, they've figured out that doing this will make them more money (in the long run). It has nothing to do with starting and medium ranks.
-
Even the 2.7k GS was killing it at 11/2, lol. What an absolute farce of a system. Here's another shocking example of why no one should spend money on this My other favorite complaint: 4-0 with 1.5 minutes gone in the GAME, lol!!!

What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
Jeers4U replied to Maf in Game Discussion
Gauss is my personal favorite superfluous turret. Thunder with ears. -
I have found Maf to be the exact opposite. He is not stupid. At all. But he is also an employee of tanki who wouldn't stay an employee of tanki if he criticized the developers like non-employees do. He does not bite the hand that feeds him. The problem with tanki (from your perspective, i think) is that you expect tanki to be organized and run like a western hemisphere game. But it's a russian game. They don't have to heed any rules like the USA does when it comes to the workplace, the product, or any employees they have. Some people have to follow the rules. Some people don't. It isn't Maf's fault. If this is indeed your final farewell, I wish you safe travels and the discovery of a game that gives you what tanki used to give you for entertainment.

Report post Sorry, my dude. I had to make a comment about this. First, a question: Do you know if your comment is the sentiment echoed by the developers? Like, is this the way they approach the problem of a new update or whatever? I believe the discussion you initiated is very important and I hope anyone else who feels the need to comment here will also choose a tone of respect towards Maf. It's not that far-fetched if you think about it. If every single game is balanced, and therefore challenging, then you end up with a number of problems: Battle length. If every game is an intense flight that lasts the full 12 minutes, players may feel that the games are too long and exhausting. This is exacerbated by the incentive to finish battles as fast as possible in order to accumulate stars and do missions as fast as possible. I would rather play one 12 minute--evenly balanced--game where cooperation and skill are needed to win and not someone else on your team with a 9k GS--who miraculously appeared halfway through the game. I find frequently leaving unbalanced games three and four times to be much more dissatisfying and exhausting. By far. Repetitiveness Variety is always better than the same thing happening over and over, even if it means introducing negative experiences to otherwise "perfect" scenarios. If every battle is a tough and balanced match, players could actually get bored of their experience being too repetitive. Every battle is unique. If they get bored it is because they have a propensity to get bored in the first place. You will never keep those players satisfied because what makes them leave in the first place has nothing to do with tanki. Lack of progression. Perfectly balanced matches can sometimes lead to a very even win-loss ratio, making it difficult for players to see significant progression or improvement in their skill over time. This lack of perceived progression can be demotivating for some players. If you don't progress, you stay where you are because you need to get better to advance. Having unbalanced matches and getting one-shotted by a 9k GS tank on the other side of the arena is FAR more demotivating and demoralizing than having insignificant improvement over time. The 9k GS player who can't rotate his turret is by far the bane of tanki advancement. And again, the players who don't advance quickly won't stick around to play tanki long term. It's like an addict. Feed him the drugs too fast and he'll just move on to a different drug eventually... I have always felt the best time--for me--has always been around the Warrant Officer ranks. It just feels everyone is more equal and even in strengths and weaknesses of turrets and hulls. If I could have a tank that never advances beyond that rank--and stayed in evenly matched arenas as a result--I would. Mental fatigue This is the most important factor. When a match is balanced, every player, regardless of their skill or GS, feels that their actions could mean the difference between winning and losing. This causes them to concentrate much harder on what they're doing, which quickly leads to mental fatigue. Which leads them to play more. Because it's fun. You invest more time in a strategy. Teamwork. Friends. Abilities. The way it is now is just fluff. You don't get attached to the game. You don't really enjoy the game--because nothing you do really matters when 9k GS comes along. You hop from one battle to another. You leave battles early. You only play kinda out of habit. It's like my '3 types of players' post (wherever that is) from long ago (if you remember that). On the other hand, if you have a bunch of quick wins and losses in-between, you're much more relaxed while playing, because you know that you don't need to do anything (when your team is winning easily), or you cannot do anything (when you're losing) to change the result of the battle. And if one intense battle comes after that, it feels like a refreshing change of pace when you suddenly get that feeling of pressure and strong competition. Few stick around in games that long. The way tanki is right now, if your team is winning 'easily', it will only be a matter of time before one or more 9k GS gets put on the other team to 'balance' the game. Often, victories are stolen from a team that has actually worked together to grind by a team that has had a couple of 8k GS be inserted on the other team. I find myself leaving matches when that happens because all of my and my teams hard work and grind has been for nothing. Quite simply: If you start losing, it's better to leave the battle. And most players do. The 'change of pace' happens when you get up from your mobile or pc or console and get a bag of doritos. The only feeling that tanki consistently gives most players is one of frustration. I even felt this effect on myself. There were times when a mix of wins and losses caused me to get lost in the game for hours, but in other times two or three balanced battles in a row made me feel like I need a break after just 30 minutes or so. I feel this experience is not the norm. I think it's great you found your hours of fun. I--and many other players--don't get that experience here. Thanks for initiating the discussion. I believe that the developers think of almost none of the things you brought up, however, when changing their game. ***Just tried to play 6 games. --I left 5 immediately due to complete imbalance of the tanks. --I left 1 after 1 minute after seeing that four 6-8k GS tanks had been placed on the other team, with my team's highest GS being 5k I am not feeling any of the things you seem to think I would be feeling about progression, boredom, mental fatigue, relaxation, or refreshment. ?

Has anyone been hacked so that you don't do any damage to anyone? No? Just me then? Edited to add: Banned again for one hour by a lameazz russkie battle mod for attempting to report a hacker. Tanki, You suck. If you don't want to do your job, then either A) STOP or B) Don't provide the option to 'vote' for hackers. Or is this concept to difficult for you to understand? And maybe wait until your analysis is complete before banning. Anything else just makes you look corrupt, bored, and inept at your job.
