Today at least it seems to work better, but since this seems to be some server-sided issue anyway I doubt anyone can provide a solution, so this topic can be closed

No, unfortunately, nothing is working. It's a gamble if the ping is stable or not. Restarting the game does fix it occasionally, but I have to restart it multiple times. That may happen when the Anti-Cheat detects suspicious movement (like clipping into objects etc). In order to make you stop, it selfs you and then makes you deal no damage. I can imagine that a bad connection could interfere with the Anti-Cheat

Funny thing is that one game it's fine, and the next one you join is literally unplayable. No way it's on my end, pretty sure they messed something up once again ?

Recently I tried playing Tanki and noticed that I have massive ping issues. I used to have an average ping of like 13 (since I'm connecting from Germany, no VPN). What happens now is that I either get 13ish ping but with insane ping spikes up to 2500s every couple seconds, or my ping is constantly 51, at some point 600 and it disconnects me. I pinged tankionline.com using cmd and got an average response time of 10 ms, when pining 37.48.68.16 (read somewhere that it's the IP of Tanki's servers?) I get ~74ms. Both pinged 100 times with 0% packet loss. What I tried to solve it: trying to play via browser, restarting the game, restarting my router, deleting any possible cache (including DNS), and reinstalling the game; nothing is working. I have no ping-related issues outside Tanki. Is it a known issue currently, or something?

now i have to replay the entire game, thanks

The problem is that the game is not skill-based at all, and that ranks are almost entirely meaningless. According to devs anything similar to ranked is not necessary ?

If you're talking about the quality of trees, it should have been added in this update:

What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?

To be fair, I never said Tanki's balancing was good ? But still, frequent changes are what a game such as Tanki needs, and they have definitely improved in that area. A bit at least. -

As stated above, I have no idea what kind of Tanki Online you guys were playing back then, this is just wrong. Before the Re-Balance in 2012 you were able to have a full M3 garage at the lieutenant rank, there is NO way you could have achieved that F2P, how is that not pay to win? Come on. Can be that such a balancing was not fully intended as the game was pretty much new at that stage, but still. Also, I think there are lots of examples above proving that it indeed was P2W. This my friend is how balancing works and how balancing should be done. Developers of any game notice when let's say a weapon is way too popular, i.e. too strong; to keep the game balanced this weapon has to be nerfed. If not nerfed, you see half the playerbase use only one weapon and the other ones become kind of… irrelevant, there would be no balance at all. The same principle applies to weapons that are too weak, if too unpopular i.e. too weak, they have to be buffed. Games can only benefit from frequent balance changes. -

The kit I'm talking about was released in December 2013 and it was available during 2014, pretty much the period we're talking about. I don't know when they stopped selling these, but they were around for quite some time. I agree that the game seemed less evil, but that's only because that was when it was starting to become evil. Maybe you didn't see much of it because you were new to the game or young or whatever, but at that point I had been playing for almost 3 years and I did notice how the game was affected by these changes for sure. I honestly don't know what all of you guys were playing back then, P2W has always been as much of a problem as it is today, players have always been complaining about it, and the advantage P2W players have had over F2P has always been as big. Like, I would also say that around these times the game was “better”, I did enjoy it way more back than compared to today. I was also a kid at that time, and I looked at Tanki differently, probably like the majority of us. But thinking now about how the gameplay used to be, you just can't say it was not as flawed as it is today, because it was. -

Tanki was balanced? Check this out: All these M2 hulls at the Warrant Officer 5 rank for just 199000 crystals. Viking M2 at WO5, 6 ranks before unlocking it in the garage, for an amount of crystals no free to play player could afford. If you had it, you were literally invincible. Where's the balance? Also, you could compete with them? Absolutely, driving around with Thunder M0, needing like 14 shots to take down a Viking M2 who used supplies was very fair and a lot of fun! This kit was so unbalanced in fact, that it made me quit the normal game modes and switch to XP/BP, which I have been playing since without ever returning. By the way, 6 ranks were one hell of a grind at the time. P2W is obviously a part of Tanki now, but that doesn't mean that back in the day it was not P2W as well? That kit posted above is a great example, and so are supplies. You had none as a F2P player, while buyers had infinite amounts, making them even more invincible. It took just one tanker to use supplies in most cases to turn a battle completely, how was that not as stupid as today's Tanki? Nowadays, everyone has supplies and the limiting factors are drones, but come on, I managed to max Brutus while earning nothing in Pro Battles and I'm doing pretty good with it, so I don't really see drones as an issue. In 2014 supplies were the problem and now it's the OP drones affecting supplies, that's kind of the same I would say. People always have nostalgia glasses on. Earlier versions were not as good as you think they were. -

2014 Tanki was just as broken, and I do not understand why everyone is saying it was so much better. People back then were complaining just as much. 2014 was the time when the first kits were added, which completely broke the game. For example, you were able to get a kit with Viking M2 back then at the warrant officer 5 rank for an amount of crystals only the paying audience could afford. So you, as a free to play player at the warrant officer ranks were struggling with M1 (without any supplies because they were actually worth something back then) against invincible Viking M2s, which were also paying for supplies making them even stronger than they already were. F2P players had no chance, I see no difference to today. Matchmaking is also something everyone is always criticizing. Back then with the battle list it was no different, one team always had invincible players who paid for kits, making the match completely unbalanced. Half the battle list was consisting of like 8v4 battles because free to play players in the losing team were just leaving, as there was nothing to be done. Just like in matchmaking. Some years before 2014 it was also just as broken, as you were able to have a fully upgraded garage at the lieutenant rank. Any free to play brigadier would have no chance against a pay to win lieutenant. Tanki had such a huge player base back then not because it was an insane game, but because of the year it was released in. During the early years of Tanki, there were no lots of similar games, so Tanki was able to attract players by being unique and easily accessible. In my opinion, what really killed the game is that there is no competitive game mode splitting the good from the bad players, and I do not understand why the devs have always been thinking that a competitive game mode is not necessary. I bet that the most players left because or are sick of having someone in their team finishing 0/40 and 40/0 at the same time (I personally am sick of it, that's why I'm not really playing anymore). In ranked matches, you are matched with similarly strong players (skill based, not equipment) in your own team as well as in the enemy team, making the match balanced and actually fun to play. It's just what a game like Tanki needs, not only gameplay wise, but also to just survive as a game according to today's standards (literally any similar game has a ranked game mode nowadays). I personally would have loved competitive game modes (especially ranked XP/BP ), but that will sadly never be a thing. Adding anything similar right now is not really an option I think, having a small player base as Tanki has could make queue times way too long. To conclude, current state is... meh. -
hating pro battle players as always

They usually respond within 24 hours. Have you received any mail from them saying that they will answer soon? Or have you checked your spam folder already? I would say you could try messaging them via mail under help@tankionline.com and ask about what is going on, a week without any response is a bit too long.

Multiquestion Question Regarding the "Challenge Accepted" Event
Son_Goku replied to yellowghetto in Archive
It doesn't matter for how long you have been #1, if someone surpasses you he's ahead and he wins the challenge. I'm pretty confident that the devs are competent enough to make sure that the player with the most stars at the end of the challenge, not before or after, gets the drone. Everything you earn (including stars) is logged, there is no way they could screw this up. -
Game is suddenly laggy and very slow - is it my computer's fault or Tanki?
Son_Goku replied to ekf in Archive
You can download the game on the home page. Go to https://www.tankionline.com/en/ and click on download, next to play. I have had way less problems on the client so far, you should try it out -

Son_Goku replied to ekf in Archive
Probably not the answer you're looking for but it might be time for an upgrade. There is sadly not much you can do to improve Tanki's performance. Make sure that your laptop is not running in battery saver mode, and that's basically it. You could of course try reinstalling or clearing Tanki's cache, but I'm pretty sure that will not really help. -
He didn't reach Legend 4 in the 2.8 hours, it's just that he has played 2.8 hours since Tanki started recording statistics. Mine are also not fully recorded, I remember playing a lot with Firebird and Dictator back then, but on my ratings page it shows that I have 0 hours on both. Him being last active on the forum in 2013, as mentioned in the comment above, makes me assume that they started tracking player statistics only after the Re-Balance, which was at the end of 2012, if I remember correctly

The way opponents hit me makes me feel like my tank is twice as long and twice as high. No matter the object standing in the way, no matter how far behind cover I am, I still get hit. I understand why this happens, ping difference between me and the guy who is shooting me, but sometimes I just wonder what their ping is. So why can't we see it when pressing tab? It could be a small number to the left of the nickname on the scoreboard. There are lots of games that have this already.

If you check my profile, you will see that I have 2500+ hours in CTF mode (I have way more in total), 99% of that comes from XP/BP. I also wrote above that the most battles I play are in the Railgun Master mode. The hours in other game modes are my total MM play time then, I guess. So I pretty much play only Pro battles. But these are unplayable now. Sandbox 4v4, the most popular XP/BP map, is always just a 1v1 or 2v2 at most, since the other players are irrelevant due to their lack of skill. They have no clue what they're doing and they ruin every battle. As someone mentioned above, people rank too fast nowadays and just don't learn the game. A ranked mode would be the easiest solution to these skill issues, but it's too late for that now. Devs should have added ranked years ago, I'm sure that would have also made the game at least a bit more popular. I agree with almost everything

Where have all the good players gone to?
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Where have all the good players gone to? Archive
I'm not trying to say that I'm the best player out there, but how has the average tanker become so bad at the game? In at least 80% of the games I play (mostly Railgun Master), half of the players in the game have ridiculously bad movement, miss almost every shot and play like they're just not thinking in general. It feels like there are more bots playing instead of real players nowadays. This doesn't apply only to the teammates, the opponents are also insanely bad. It's breaking me, honestly. Sometimes I play with weaker equipment on an alt account against legends to FORCE the battles to become challenging, but I still finish with a D/L of 2.5 with my brain turned off and I still lose because the teammates play like bots. Lol. Again, I'm not saying that I'm the best tanker there is, I also do mistakes, but this lack of skill from the average player is seriously hurting the game. People reach legend nowadays and have NO clue how the game works. -
I really, really, really dislike this. The 3 battles to have access to the lobby chat were already annoying enough, but being a pro battles player, I still didn't really care. And now you force us too to play something we don't want to, this is ridiculous
-
Crystal rewards or maybe even something like sprays would be way better, adding damage bonuses etc is just giving you advantages over players who don't have these bonuses, and I can assure you that we don't want such a thing
-
Would be cool if you could also think about rebalancing them, because some of the maps have a team that is clearly stronger than the other one *cough house in sandbox cough*

patch notes Patch Update #698 - Released 26th August 2022
Son_Goku replied to Marcus in News Archive
I don't know bro, I just played a game and in my opinion the servers are in one of the worst states in the 11 years I have been playing. My ping is always around 15, and whenever I hit people the recoil registers like two seconds after they have actually been hit, everyone hits me behind walls in a way they have never done before, people beam across maps because of lag, ... The servers are still in a ridiculously bad state. Good that they managed to survive all those DDoS attacks, but there's still lots of work to be done regarding stability.
