The Bishop is way more important to me when I play, I generally make use of both to severely limit the moves my opponent can make on the other side of the board where possible. They're like sniping pieces, always useful... Not that I play that much, but yeah ^_^

Well, yes, just as you can get addicted to work. For most people, both work and studies gets boring and tiresome after a while - though both can be interesting and rewarding, often schools fail to make them so. It's effectively when someone doesn't get tired of studying that they can be considered addicted. So basically you're implying that those students who always get higher grades are addicted to studies? That attitude is so annoying... It assumes that in order to be successful in terms of grades, you'd need to 'have no life' or invest all your time into studies, therefore presenting that success in a negative way. Providing yourselves with a false excuse when you don't get high grades ('at least I have a life'). Sure, some who get top grades study a lot (which isn't even necessarily a bad thing), but others don't study more than the norm and don't really enjoy it either - they just do so in a more effective way when they have to. Try learning from those high-achieving peers instead of ridiculing them to put them down. "...most nerds are shy ordinary-looking types with no interest in physical activity. I don't know, maybe an average of 5/6 or so? Although I probably drink about the same quantity of milk on quite a few days, too... Well a few people claim not to drink just water at all, and instead drink other drinks containing water the whole time - but really that's often an unhealthy way to stay hydrated.

Yes, I know. I was calling some of the arguments you've made abhorrent, not his. And many of the other arguments you've made are quite weak or logical fallacies, which is unfortunate because I happen to 'be on your side' that the term isn't sexist.

Despite thinking that 'Ladies First' isn't sexist, Dark-Rim is quite clearly both the better and the more mature debater here... And arguing that 'Ladies First' is acceptable because sexism is acceptable really is abhorrent. I simply think it's acceptable because it's not really sexist.

Just to clarify - I did not judge alone, these results are based on feedback from quite a few Reporters and lengthy deliberation over a shortlist of about a dozen good entries. Quite a few only narrowly missed out, the competition was pretty fierce. As for HHuey, both hog and me came up with our separate picks for the 'top 3' winners, and we both gave him first without having even told each other tthat's what we thought (i.e. we both chose him independently of each other). That, to me, was more than enough for his entry to deserve the top prize. I personally thought it was a top quality example of satire, an excellently controlled piece of writing made amusing by its wit and subtle humour - although I can see why it might not have been the 'popular choice', I was picking based on quality not based on what the majority might think. Of course you guys are allowed to share your own thoughts and it's appreciated, but don't arrogantly claim your own entry must have been better or deserved to win instead. That's what's commonly known as being a 'sore loser'. The staff are very used to dealing with those who seem to think a contest was biased if they or their personal choices didn't end up winning (because apparently they must be right), so it would be a waste of your words to respond in that way.
