I would need nearly 1 000 000 crystals to do that.. After I buy Prometheus, I have estimated that I'll have around 200k to spare. I'm buying Hornet M3 somewhere along the way, during a sale. Also, I would like another turret (or possibly hull) at M3, so I'd be saving for that too. I need to decide how far I should MU my Fire, keeping these things in mind. So, could I ask people how far I should MU?

If I MU'd the first 10 steps without a sale, it'd cost 44.3k. The first 20 steps costs 168.9k. 15 steps is 96.6k. This is not including speed-ups. When I get Prom, how far should I MU my Fire? And should I wait for a sale? That'd depend on how far I MU. By the way, upgrading nine steps improves my reload by one tenth of a second and an extra 1.9 damage including burn. No matter what anyone says about MUing, I'll definitely upgrade the first step :D.

So, what I'm asking is: Does Fire M3 need to be MU'd, or should I spend crystals on another turret/hull or kit? I could get Viking, but it is similar to Hunter, and I have M2 Vik, which is 20hp less than M3. I'm already going to buy Hornet M3 sometime. I could MU that, too. What should I do?

Problem with the Vik kits are that I got a PD recently on Vik M2 for 58k. I decided that I'd get it, and it's great. It has 230hp, while M3 has 250hp. Does that make much of a difference?

I forgot to say that I was meaning M3 specifically, but you answered that mostly anyway :). I asked because I'm not sure how many crystals I'll have for MUing my Fire ( I actually figured I'd have around 200k to spare, which I'll use in part on Hornet M3 during a sale). Thanks for this, you both answered most of my questions. Just to make it a bit more clear- How well does a non-MUd Fire M3 go against other MUd turrets? Please answer this in general (I don't only play Poly), then also in Poly specifically. Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far.

At any M it depends on the map, but I'm under the impression that at M3, Rico is better. I'd say it would be, especially against heavier hulls. Hammer's clip would run out without killing the enemy, yet Rico has many more shots to whittle down their hull. Against light hulls, I'm sure Rico would do fine, but Hammer better. I'd say Rico.

It is, but it depends on which protections you already have, and which you want. You have Emerald, which would go nicely with Inferno (the only overlap is Twins protection, which is only 12% on Inferno). Thanks for this. Sounds great. I'm going to try to buy Hornet somewhere before (or with) Prometheus, during a sale. To people who have used Firebird M3 (or who have dealt with stock versions), how well does Fire fare without MUs? Can it keep its own in a battle; does it dominate; does it even finish near first most often?

I don't use supplies that way myself, mostly because I saved them all at lower ranks, and then there was a time where they were all doubled because of some update. Now I use what I get through missions, and through that kit of mine. If you have the crystals to spare, definitely go for a supply kit. It costs a lot, but if you think about it you'll use similar amounts as in the kit over time, and will pay a lot more than the kit's price if you continue what you are doing.

I'd say that you could last fine into the early M3 ranks. Have you considered any M3 kits? Medic is quite popular, and Jackhammer is good, too. If you buy supplies, get the kits. No point paying double the price of kits. Do you use supplies much? If you only use them sometimes, then I'd just try to make the most of missions (unless you have zero right now). I bought Bulldozer during the Christmas sales, and got a heap of supplies with that. Keep it in mind that kits give you supplies, although I'm sure you already know that.

If I keep earning similar amounts of crystals as I am now until Marshal, I'll be able to buy Prometheus easily, with 200k crystals to spare (give or take 200k, I guess :D). So, I'll be able to afford Hornet M3 between that time. How well does Hornet M3 pair with M3 Firebird? Also, how well does it work with other turrets, in general? Linked to this, should I buy it, or is there something else that I should save for or buy instead? Thanks. I've used it at M0 a bit, and with speed boost I noticed it when turning sharply. Might be more prominent at later Ms.

Okay, thanks for this. How long do you think Firebird M2 will last (a while, doesn't it)? I still use it in certain battles, depending on size and paints. I like pairing Hornet with that. So, is M3 Hornet worth it for Firebird's sake (although I can use Fire with Viking too, now that I have it)? And lastly, how well does M3 Hornet/Firebird work in battles? I know I might be using Hunter more, but even so, my favourite (and most used) combo has been Fire/Hornet up until now.

I've heard that Jackhammer is OP, or at least a good kit, and I've heard that Raiden is rubbish. Thunder M3 at stock kills any M1 or stock M2 Hornet in 2 shots. That's just M2 Hornet; only the stock version (no MUs). With DD you kill everything quicker, but that is the case with all turrets. People have said that Thunder is probably the worst base M3, and I'd say that is correct. Thunder unlocks earliest, in Bulldozer (I have it) and tops battles at that rank, but the higher you rank the more Jackhammers and Paladins you'll encounter. They are by far better.
