Alright; the problem with Viking is that I just bought M2 Viking, and Prometheus has Hunter. Hornet at least has a lot more speed, so is different in that respect. Viking.. has similar health to Hunter at stock M3, and is one point slower speed-wise (8.4 vs 9.5). That's just stock, but I don't think I'll be MUing anything much for a while; it's way too costly (700k+ per item). So, for now M2 Mammoth and Viking are enough to last my Thunder, it seems. Vik M2 has 230hp and M3 has over 250hp. Not heaps of difference. So, I'm considering Hornet M3. Other hulls unlock too late. Also, does anyone think I should take a turret instead of (or with) Hornet before Prom?

Well, I'm at my best with short range turrets, so it's not like I'll charge head-first into other tanks all the time (and stay in front of them). :D That's not really much of an issue for me. The issue's people's opinions of it; apparently it's junk. I'll keep it in mind, but I might just skip it. Edit: this is Boreas. Since I did go ahead and buy Viking M2, I'll try not to think about the Viking kits. Pity about Jackhammer; I would have liked it. Even so.. Should I consider Hornet M3 to keep me going until Prometheus? Or maybe an M3 turret (or different hull) on its own? Hopefully some good sales appear; I might snag something along the way. Do you have problems with Fire? I'm sure you play against plenty of M1s, and later you'll see M2s. If you feel the need for the protection, then Storm is a good deal. Get it during the sales, and use it interchangeably with your other paints. It'll surely go to use (depending on the maps you play), so why not?

Thanks. I've got M2 Viking, so I don't want to buy M3. My plan is to get Prometheus (Hunter) so I don't need it anyway. Any suggestions apart from Prom, or should I just save for that only? I could buy Hornet separately. Also, does anyone else have something to say on Boreas?

Save for Boreas first, or save only for Prometheus, even though that is a long way away, rank wise. Another option (in place of Boreas) is to buy only a hull (or turret) at M3, during a sale. Hornet, for example, as my M2 doesn't stand up to too much punishment. I do play Poly, and similar maps, but I don't spend more time there than in Kungur (just an example). Additionally, I have Fire and Thunder to use, too, so the maps I play don't make much of a difference. Thanks.

It will cost you another 87k to MU your M1 completely. M2 Wasp costs 103k. You'd save time and money if you continue MUing, because you're two ranks off the unlock rank anyway (and it's cheaper). It's not like you could get it instantly if you didn't want to MU.

Well, Rico is generally better for general use. Hammer for short-medium, Rico for medium. I haven't got any info on your current weapons or your preferences. If you like short, pick Hammer; you'll use it well. If you prefer to keep your distance, maybe go for Rico.

Nice guide! Just wondering what your thoughts on Hunter are? I haven't used it past M0 and test server, and I've heard its low power makes it bad for golds. Is it good because of its speed? Again, well done on this.

What does everyone think of the Boreas kit? I am trying to think of an alternative to Medic, although I'd like that kit. My larger aim is Prometheus, so Viking and Hunter together isn't necessary. Also, Legend? I haven't used Rail past M0 and M2/M3 on the test server. I might not be the best with it to start. However, I enjoyed XP with M2s (I really don't like M0; slow turning speed, reload and not-so-great damage). Should I consider Cardinal or Guardian? I am not really a fan of heavy hulls (don't hate them, though). Finally, should I consider a turret/hull on its own? I've got M3 Thunder, M2 Hornet and Mammoth, and M2 Firebird. I use all. As for paints, I really only use Jaguar and Emerald. PART TWO: Server just restarted, and I've got a PD: I have Vik M1, which I almost never use now (only 30hp more than Hornet). I'd really like this. Hornet doesn't always have enough health, and Mammoth is uselessly slow. I've got 121k. However... I should be saving for other stuff, shouldn't I?... I would probably MU. Look into how many steps you'll be upgrading; that'll make it easier to decide. If you are happy with your Smoky now, then go for Rico (more turrets are always nice). If not, then MU.

Well, just logged on (my lower ranked account), and I've got a discount for Fire M1. I had it on my original account, so I know what it is like. Bad reload, but powerful. I didn't want it, but I am pretty sure I'll get it now. I want Freeze, so I'll end up with Freeze and Fire. I'm happy with that; I can compare them against each other (I haven't used Freeze above M0). Sounds good? Also wondering, has anyone got recent test drives? I got one on my main account (this one) for Titan M1 ages ago. I had joined a battle without any people, so in effect didn't get to try the hull properly (even though it is no good at my rank). Feels like they have removed the feature (they haven't, have they?).

As it says, you save 86k if you buy it. May Sales (if there are any) may be around 25% off (like last year), and then there is June (Tanki's B'day). That might be a bigger sale. So at a 25% discount... Vulcan with your 10% discount costs 156k, saving 52k. Africa costs 225k, saving 75k. Mammoth costs 0k, saving 195k. I'm referring to savings from the original price, not the kit's. Individual purchase (excluding Mammoth) costs 381k during a 25% sale. Without sale, the individual items (excluding Mammoth) costs 508k. The kit costs 422k (as it includes Mammoth). Go for the kit if you want it instantly. If not, wait for the sale as it will save you an additional 41k.

Well, I'm finding it hard to answer this when taking paints into account (and everything else, because you're talking about M3s!). I'm not at your rank, so I don't know how common these are. I'll assume that there are possibly some in each battle; for example, Polygon CP, with two enemies using paints that protect against your turret. In such a situation, I'm sure you can just try avoiding those tanks; fire on the others first. If you are duelling/playing in smaller teams, and most/all have protection against your turrets, then just switch weapons. If you MU and use 3-4 different weapons, I'm sure you'll just be able to pick the one that suits the circumstances best. As for Hunter vs Viking, why don't you consider speed more? I know you are, but you still haven't mentioned it. Picture this. You are running from the red base in Serpuhov with the flag, and a Rico is chasing you (most likely using Hornet; everyone does, unless it's a Viking). With Hunter, you'd be able to keep your distance from it, or at least reach teammates quickly. With Viking, you would be slower, equalling more shots at you, and they are more likely to hit. On the other hand, you could survive one or possibly two more bullets than Hunter. Yet the Rico would be closer to you because you are slower, therefore dealing higher damage than if you were at a distance. On the other hand, if you were in Poly DM you would be dying two shots earlier, meaning you would deal less damage to others before each death. But why would you use Hunter in a Poly DM? Each hull has its place. I might be biased (I like being fast) but I'd prefer the Hunter. One last thing; does Hunter's drift inhibit your driving (can you turn round corners as fast, or is speed slightly wasted there? You said you liked playing with Hunter, so this most likely isn't a problem). Hope this helps you.

I agree. At Generalissimo, I'm sure slightly MU'd Hammer would not be up to scratch. I'd suggest saving until you can buy it and put a heap of MUs into it at once. If you want, maybe consider MUing Shaft instead (or a hull), if you use it.

Honestly, Loam is valuable because of the Firebirds that roam Poly and similar places, but Winter isn't the end of the world. Average Thunder, tiny amounts of Fire and Rail, then a huge Shaft protection. Shaft is rare, but it'd still be nice to have such a paint in case you are playing with a heap of Shafts. You are right though, Loam is most probably better. Titan vs Viking. Which do you like or need more? I think Viking is better overall. Titan is good for Poly and similar small maps, not elsewhere. Viking is better in Rio, Monte Carlo and similar places; Serpuhov, Kungur, and more. What about the May Sales (if there are any)? The kits will cycle around on the 29th of April, and will Atlas appear then? You could wait until then, if you need to.

Thanks, sounds good. For a sec I was worrying that I'd only get above 200k many ranks after Brig. Edit: I'm referring to what I'm saying now, not my old post. This probably isn't really accurate, as this changes every week. Even so, using my profile (the exp I've earnt and crystals) I may earn 145k by the time I reach Brig. That's this week. Using last week my outcome would be 154k. At the moment I have just under 90k. Add 100k and I'm well on my way to Medic (under 300k), or something else. My long term goal is Prometheus, as I love Firebird. M3 would be great, and so would Zeus. Prom is just under 450k, so I will forget it until later. Right now I'm saving for Medic. Viking is good, and so is Isida. The only problem with this is Viking and Hunter together. Maybe I'll end up getting both kits (if I ever earn that much), and decide upon which hull I like best. On the other hand, I may not buy Medic, nor Prometheus. Let's see.

How many crystals do people think I might earn before Brigadier? 40k? 80k? If anyone else thinks they could take a good guess (on previous experiences) then I'll appreciate the help. I'm 8k away from next rank, so 87k from Brig.

I bought Isida, although for half price. It can hold its own fine enough, but you receive more points by healing. Not everyone likes that. Also, as you begin to reach my rank, you'd want to replace it with something else; you'll be throttled by the Firebirds and Twins. If you were buying in a sale, I'd take it, but at full price, you'd be better off saving for a kit or simply a better turret. Where are you placing with your setup now (your Isida M0 or Thunder M1; whatever you use)? If you finish near first or simply have a good ratio, I'd hold out until later to buy something. There is always better.
