48hrs experiment with supplies this weekend

First impressions of the new system after playing with a variety of gull/turret combos ... Had a game where a fire/wasp seemed bent on running supplies as much as possible. Dunno how he did it but he seemed ot have a lot of icons up when I saw him. Playing my Col I had a couple games where I just kept getting blasted. Was unable to get much done. Was that because at high levels druggers have more drugs to burn? Or was it because I was on a lame team? I do not know, My other lower ranks had mostly good games. Didn't see much difference overall. On the personal level, I did use Supplies less often just since I am unfamiliar with the new system. Wanted to keep my options open. SO I used fewer than normal but still did well. One specific thing I will be watching with the nerf to Isida this week. Up to now my Isida used the DD supplies least often of them all (except RKs). With the nerf I think I will have to use them more often to compensate for the 50% nerf to ammo supply. But will that be possible? So the new system may make the IsIda nerf even worse. We'll see.

    [MUR] Mauritian Players

So cool! Tanki certainly has a worldwide presence. :) I just re-read the Patrick O'Brien novel about the Mouritias campaign. Would love to visit. Do you still call the island to the north Turtle Island?
  3. People talk about this change as though Isida's DPS was doubled, that Isida's DPS is much larger than Freeze/Fire now. DPS was boosted by 20% which is significant. But that does not make up for the double energy consumption now. And +20% DPS is also offset by the loss of the 10% self heal. And almost totally overlooked in this discussion is the much narrower aiming arc. The new m2 alteration is a joke and the m1 alteration is even worse. That's why people are not thrilled about this "buff"... because the truth is it is overall a nerf. As for Twins if this is supposed to "fix" some issue with Twins then it is an abject failure. Wait for the Iron Days sale and 25,000 Crystals totally removes the "fix". What is 25k Cr in the career of a Twins account??? That's about 1% of the cost to buy an m3 kit and MU the hull and turret to m4 ... not even talking about the module MU cost. Noteven counting the cost of the m1 and m2 stages. To add less than 1% overhead cost is no fix to anything. My bad for not reading closely.
  4. Why are not all turret/hull/pain/module Kits available in the Garage all the time? On a related note, why are no Striker Kits at all available in the Garage? You will not "force" anyone on a budget to pay out $70 (ROFL!) for a Kit by denying them to the Garage. But you might get Crystals purchases from people who have reached the rank requirement but haven't saved quite enough Crystals to buy it. Tanki seems to have the odd idea that they will sell more items if they do not make them available for sale. Well, the Internet is not the GUM store; modern shoppers have alternatives. Your current policies do little more than alienate potential customers.

Define "plenty". I see well under 5% of the Pro battles as non-drug. Also please tell me how I am supposed to find them w/o clicking on 50 different games every time I want to play. Let's not pretend the Pro Battle section adequately addresses the Supplies issue.

Well as I said in my 1st post it is Good News Tanki is trying something. But I still think this is just avoiding the root problem.

With respect, you are describing the status quo. You are saying nothing will change. I am a daily missioner and I currently have over 400 RKs and over 700 of the other supplies. So yeah I can in fact use a lot of supplies. The point is, the game is cheapened by it. You are sanguine over the fact that I have to pop a DA and a DD every time I spawn in order to do nothing more than cancel out the buyer's DA/DD. And you are sanguine about forcing players to waste hard-earnd Crystals buying 100 item Kits. Your vision of the future is what we have today!
  8. You said all the Titans and Mammoths were m4. That's 4000 Hit Points not the 3376 HP you used in your example. I also suggest that if you had a heavy hull your K/D might not change much. When the Isida is faster than the fire/freeze the Isida can keep engaged at its maximum range. Isida damage does not get weaker with distance. (Not yet but give tanki another week or two.) Fire and Freeze do.decrease with distance. This is the key to fighing Isida in DM.

I've posted about Supply design in other threads. Don't think Tanki wants this thread to turn into a design thread. So onlyt just briefly... Mines are good. they add tactical complexity and require thought/skill to use well. SU is also powerful. But SU has only a +40% effect. Most importantly extra speed helps in proportion to the tanker's skill. A fast bad driver is still a bad driver. RK's main problem is that 1500 Supply Kit buyers get them at a 1:1 ratio. Daily Missioners get them at a 1:3 ratio. The concept of a RK is common among games. They are not a problem in Tanki when they are relatively rare. The problem comes from buyers who use multimple RKs in each and every battle they join. The real problem come frm DA/DD. When the other guy is caught without them the 4x effect dominated everything. They even force otherwise decent design concepts out of the game. But when both players have them it is as if DA/DD do not exist. DA/DD need to be re-designed, SU maybe, and RK's sold in Kits cut by two-thirds.

So you love lavish use supplies - but only against other players who also drug heavily, eh? Hmm. Well then sir I have news for you. You like the game with DA/DD removed. Let's do the math: Your DD cancels out the other guy's DA. Your DA cancels out his DD. The game plays exactly the same as if neither of you used a single Supply. Yet you spend money - real money - to obtain ... nothing. So the "experiment" is a rousing success before the first data point has been recorded? DA/DA are still overpowered. Changing the smart cools down rules does not change that. We already have smart cool downs and drugs are OP today. Different smart cools downs tomorrow don't change the 4x effect. The new cooldowns might be marginally better but the root problem remains: OP is OP.

There is one good aspect here. These supplies have wreaked a detrimental effect on the whole game. Tanki has finally come out and admitted the problem. Here's the bad part. Once again they refuse to address the real problem. Once more a band-aid is being put on a gaping wound. "Supplies always beat skill", is what the Tanki guy said. "We don't want that", the Tanki guy said. Well then the answer is to re-design and/or remove the Supplies. The answer is not to layer on even ore complex cool-down rules. The real problem lies with DA and DD. These two supplies and their 4x effect had poisoned so much in the game. The most recent example is Isida. In justifying the removal of self-heal Tanki alluded to how vamparism is too powerful when multiplied by Supplies. So Tanki's solution is to toss out entire design concepts instead of facing facts and replacing DD/DA with something better. Nothing will really change until the simplistic system of doubling of damage and hit points goes away. But it is good to see something tried. The player community's best hope is to keep Tanki's feet to the fire starting with this "experiment" until Tanki bites the bullet and addresses the root cause.
  12. But before those two seconds pass you are dead. If there's a 2nd tank nearby you are dead. The DPS add means Isida does slightly more damage than fire or freeze now. But there's no afterburn or freeze effect, no impact effect, no chance to damage multiple targets. In DM the healing function is useles. In DM the m2 alteration is useless. Isida does damage at short range and nothing else. The devs add functions to several turrets and take functions away from others. To some turret they give alterations that turn a weak turret into a deadly turret. To others the alterations make the turret less deadly. Then after a couple months the devs redesign a quarter of the turrets. There's two explanations. (1) The devs are incomeptent. (2) The accusation the Devs change stuff just to force players to spend money on the game is true.
  13. Again another night of pervasive lag. In order to play this game one must be able to steer and aim precisely. Since Christmas virtually every day lag interferes with this. Today again it was worse. Dropped from games more often. Unable even to join games despite multiple attempts. Forget all this fiddling around with turrets Want happy customers who want to support the game financially? Then take steps to improve the basic service, Do something to reduce lag. Dumping the failed clan concept seems like a good place to start.

Clan licenses are available for purchase!

Actually it did get under your skin. Just like you intended in your OP, kid. And no, I added the "kid" part with the editor. As a aftrerthought once I'd made my point, kid.
  15. BZZZZZT! Nope. Wrong. Bad math, The DPS boost was only 20%. In 5 seconds the new Isida does 6 seconds worth of the old Isiida's damage . Any tank that took 7 seconds to kill with the old Isida CANNOT BE KILLED with the new Isda. After 5 seconds you are out of ammo and that tank has about 15% life remaining.
  16. LittleWillie

Clan licenses are available for purchase!

Shorter version: The customer is always wrong And now some advice in the other direction. It is indeed possible in the real world to overprice a service or a product. At $36 for a 12-slot clan that offers little more than a clan chat, $36 is vastly over-priced. Furthermore I do not see anti-cheat service to be a "premium". Mostly, I deeplky resent the fact lag has gotten much worse since the clan system went live. Tanki has said this is due to th eclan system so this is not idle speculation on my part. Now obviously you think it is a Good Thing for a business to be unaware of their customers' opinions. But in fact the opposite is true. A company that wants to stay in business finds a way to offer something the market wants at a price they are willing to pay. Food for thought, kid.
  17. I do not think you understood what ThirdOnion wrote. If you agree with him then you agree Vulcan is now a weak turret.
  18. And in doing so there is no energy to do the heals at normal energy consumption ... so the attack change really does also affect healing capabiliuty... unless the Isida never, ever, ever tries to attack an enemy. Nerf number 6.
  19. LittleWillie

    Let's Discuss Vulcan!

Exactly! Before Vulcan/Wasp was a very different beast to control. It took entirely different reaction instincts to operate compared to "conventional" setups like Viking/Smoky. But in learning those instincts I had a rare combo many people were not used to fighting. Net result: a lot of fun. But this change does not tweak Vulcan for balance ... it makes it a new turret and all those hard-learned instincts are now obsolete. I now have to learn an entirely new way of playing. But there's much reason t believe this will be futile. The loss of gyro means a loss of accuracy and that loss is felt more and more the lighter your hull. But they bumped "weak" damage. Clearly Tanki thinks the only way Vulcan should be played is to put it on a Mammoth and pout a brick on the spacebar.
  20. Yes I am sick and tired of all the lies as well. You are right about this being a huge nerf. When i red Tanki's breathless anonuncement that Isida would noe be the highest DPS of the Fire/Freeze/Isida trio I said to myself, "Well, right now those two have about a +17% advantage over Isida. So Tanki will probably add +20% to Isida." That's exactly what Tanki did. So now Isida is #1 by the tiniest margin. But today's math-challenged youths hear #1 and think "That makes it OP I wantoneIwantoneIwantone". Wrong. +20% DPS divided by half the ammo means Isidas can do only 60% the previous damage before they are out of ammo. That's a 40% nerf. But now they do not even get a bit of self-heal so that's further nerf. And no one talks about the narrow firing angle. I had to play a few games to get a feel for this change because it was hard to say if aiming was harder due to the arc or due to the vastly increased lag that has poisoned this game since Christmastime. But now ihave a feel for it. The narrowing was very signficant. That's nerf. Of course the narrowing is Tankis way of trying to force their customers to pay for the m1 alteration. But that reduces range and only an ***** Isida owner will reduce his range. So the m1 alteration is sort of self-inflicted nerf. And the new m2 alteration? It halves damage!!! That's a massive self-inflicted nerf. Nerf nerf nerf nerf nerf. Five, five nerfs in one. All this for a turret 90% of Tanki players called the "weakest turret in the game". Tanki seems to think the way to generate customer loyalty and new revenue it to royally piss off their players.

    Artillery Turret

Who wants to bet a month after artillery is released they will give it ricochet ability?
  22. Not if that medium hull has DA up and/or good Isida protection. In these cases the target will suck up all 5 seconds of damage output and still live. Dead Isida. Now w/5 secs of ammo if anything goes amiss ... impact throws off your aim or the target gts out of the NEW! IMPROVED! narrower arc ... well then the Isida dies. (Hmmm, back when I was very new to the game and before the big rebalance I used to bump Isidas to throw off their aim. I bet that tactic works again.) There was no reason to change Isida. It was good and fun the way it was. Tanki is just trying to force us to buy alterations ... and the Isida alterations both weaken the turret.
  23. I am going off memory of the last time I* discuees this so forgive me if I am off a little. Anyway my memory tells me that before this change Firebird/freeze had roughly a +17% DPS advantage over Isida at close range. We were told Isida would have thehighest DPS after the change. "Wow that will mean it is super-powerful" said the Tanki players who are poor at math, Being good at math I assumed the boost would be +20%. Well I just played my 1st match. My damage / tick went from 119 to 155 .. that's exactly a +20% boost. LOL, Isidal now has a +2% DPS advantage over Fire .. at the cost of half the firing time, That means my Isida will do 60% it previous damage before it runs out of ammo. Added together with the reduction in firing angle and we are talking a MASSIVE NERF. LOL of course it isn't With this new alteration the "new and improved" Isida will do 30% it's previous damage potential. LOL Meanwhile the m1 alteration remains wider arc at the cost of range. Well range is Isida's #1 advantage over Fire/Freeze and it is really needed if you want to heal w/o always bumping into the tank that is shooting. (Side explanation to Tanki: Bumping into a shooter on your team is a Bad Thing.) While many turret get alteration that make them much much more powerful Isida is offered two alterations that enfeeble it. But wait a month and Isida will bounce off walls and Striker will freeze tanks on impact.
  24. LittleWillie

    Let's Discuss Isida!

Especially if you misjudge and start firing a second before you clse the range ... what can it kill in 4 seconds? Ans since they are narrowing the attack cone you will miss more often.... trying to force me to buy the alteration that adds are at the expense of range. Bunch of krapp.
  25. And splash damage to Isida. Good catch. Hazel-Rah in one post says Isida will be a lot more powerful. In another post the same person says Isida had to be nerfed because it is an unstoppable killing machine. I am tired of being lied to. You are correct. Isida is being complete re-designed and if you bought any alterations (like yesterday) they are now suddenly obsolete. But in the announcement when you log in the text says "we've ,made some small changes." Small changes my ass. I am tired of being lied to.
