    What would make the HTML5 version awesome FOR YOU?

    Have been using HTML5 version in browser exclusively for months. HTML5 is quite stable for me compared to Flash which gives me an error every couple games. Recently started using Flash a bit more because I was participating in blitz tourneys. I carried that over to MM because I have been getting very irritated in the HTML5 version with spawning after dying and going to the garage, only to self-destruct and spawn again. That doesn't happen in Flash and has to be fixed. The feel is still quite different and I felt like I played better in Flash and was more accurate. There is a jumpiness that happens sometimes in HTML5 that I didn't experience in Flash especially when rotating quickly to make a shot. Just felt more fluid and controlled in Flash. (I have consistent 50ms ping and 60 fps in HTML and Flash.) Playing with heavy hull augment felt quite different on a wasp or hornet. The hull felt much heavier and less responsive on Flash than on HTML5. In HTML5 often you will drive right under or through an opponent if you hit them with a fair amount of speed and heavy hull augment. Basically acts like ignore tanks hack. I think the physics are more accurate in Flash but less fun than in HTML5. TJR is my favorite mode and despite my strong connection, I never start with juggernaut when playing in HTML5, either alone or in a group. I decided to try Flash and the first 3 games I started as juggernaut. Next one I was 2nd to load on my team and started as juggernaut again in the fifth game. That was with a group of 2 other players, one of whom will start the game with juggernaut 9 times out of 10. (The both use Flash.) That speaks to 2 problems with the game. First is that Flash players have an advantage in loading into games faster than HTML5 is able to. That is an advantage in all modes. The loading times need to improve drastically for HTML5. For me, according to the game timer, I always load into Flash 5-10 seconds faster. Second, the allocation of the initial juggernaut in TJR needs to be fixed. It should not be first to load the game. You constantly see the same people being the first juggernaut. Many use this advantage to farm experience and crystals and K/D. If they are about to die early in the game, they will leave before dying and join another to be juggernaut in that one. People also game the system by sitting in the garage at the start of the game or after dying, waiting for their juggernaut to die so they can spawn as the next juggernaut. All that said, for me, I also remembered tonight why I switched to HTML5. I had so many mid-game errors in Flash that I had to stop using it. Errors I had to go to task manager to get the Flash client to close. The errors I experience in HTML5 generally occur at the start of a battle where I will just get a gray screen. In the background, there are 100+ connections for resources being performed and if one of them gets stuck or is going slowly, the game won't load and usually requires a browser restart. HTML5 has to be more resilient and quick to load. Cache this stuff on the client or put it on a CDN so it isn't served constantly by the game server and is more local to players. Every time I have investigated the problems starting a game, it has been caused by a static resource failing to load in a timely fashion. FYI, I do not like the HTML5 client for a variety of reasons. I like being able to troubleshoot the errors and that is not possible with the locked down Chromium-based client. Restarting from errors in the client takes longer. I do not like how normal hotkeys are disabled in the client or that logins are not cached. I like in-game links opening in my browser rather than in-game. Lastly, I am not able to stream from the HTML5 client while I can from HTML5 in a browser like Chrome.

    Think it is common knowledge that rewards from coinboxes have been dramatically reduced. If enough people were interested I could set up a form with results for coinboxes but I think it is unlikely that anyone will take the time to enter their results given the few entries into the form for containers which everyone get.

You can go to speedtest.net and check your connection to Haarlem - LeaseWeb and see your ping and transfer speeds.   4. These are stats from last 2 weeks from my app. Hornet is almost as popular as the next 3 hulls combined as far as hours. While Hornet is clearly scoring the best, this recent snapshot of data has Exp/Hr between Hornet and Hunter the closest I have seen in months.
  5. Given that hornet ultra was recently released, I would expect at least few more times when ultra containers are available before anything is done as far as balance. It wouldn't make sense for the company to nerf hornet when its new skin is still a bit of a status item.
  6. Hornet has been the most popular and best scoring hull since the new overdrives came out. That is a fact and not an opinion. That is not balanced.

    vulcan's incendiary band and fire immunity

    Incendiary band does make projectiles travel very slowly (hard to hit moving targets over medium distance) and your turret turns slowly (same as stock while firing) and you need to fire non-stop or you lose the burning effect on targets. That said, it is still very strong.
  9. They have definitely become more common and few things bother me in this game more than EMP gauss. Any time I see one on opposite team, I put on EMP immunity and make it my personal mission to torment them. They are especially difficult to deal with when paired with other players using burning/freezing turrets because you can't protect from everything.

    Same issue. Railgun shots are not visible ~10% of time.

    Hornet OD and Vulcan damage have both been issues for game balance. Together they were a nightmare when on the receiving end. I am happy to see it has been at least partially addressed. I've been frustrated lately having to change to the combo as well when facing Vulcan/Hornets. I hope Hornet OD will be addressed at some point in the near future. I shouldn't feel such a jolt of happiness when I happen to survive an encounter with a Hornet OD.

    There are such small probabilities for any items rare and better and there is such a small amount of data being entered in the form. I don't think you can use 100 or 200 containers as a reference. I opened 222 and watched a couple of my friends do the same and the results are all over place. One of my 111 batches was OK and the other was pretty terrible. (e.g. At one point, I opened 90 containers in a row and received 87 common and 3 uncommon. Not a satisfying experience.) My friends had much, much better luck. I really just wanted the drone and useful hull alterations and out of all of it, the only things of note were hunter ultra, 1 epic hull alteration, adrenaline turret augment for 5 hulls. I do have to tell you, the addition of the 5, 10, and 20 coinboxes is a kick in the nuts. I received 35 coinboxes that gave essentially nothing (~150 tankcoins) and they took the places of potentially useful equipment.

    Clear how? Ultra has everything in normal containers plus a few additional options (drone, some turret alts, some ultra skins, coinboxes). Those are all relatively rare items. I agree it would be better to separate the 2 but there is such limited data at this point and ultras are only available sporadically and their contents have changed every time. Separating them is not going to produce much data.

    In my experience, the results have been comparable. There is just not enough data to say. I did add an option for "Exotic - Drone" to each of the container dropdowns and updated results to show it.

    When I tried to make top 100 I thought it was something interesting to shoot for. As I tried to figure out how the system worked, I saw how lots of the top ranked were doing it. When I peaked was right around the time dictator/mechanic allowed people to easily game the system. I saw almost all the accounts above and below me taking advantage and that is when I decided to let it go. I have no desire to spend my limited time on that. A lot of the people who build these accounts to get top 10 efficiency are on alternate accounts and they have played on them for months or years, on and off, only during double/triple crystal fund days to get there. They are paying for premium. They are generally good for Tanki so I don't fault them or Tanki for allowing it. I know a lot of players that do value efficiency ranking and are in top 500 and trying to move up. I know a lot of players who could give 2 turds about the whole thing. It's just another small corner of the community.

    By exploitation of the efficiency formula I don't mean cheating necessarily. I just mean that a player understands the main drivers of the calculation and is taking some action like playing only during crystal bonuses purposefully earning score (and consequently crystals) without gaining experience (e.g. some drones and dictator overdrive) playing in pro battles against mults who will build a crystal fund and give all crystals to you I would only call the last one cheating if you are using multiple accounts simultaneously. Thanks! I should do that. It would be interesting to see a history.

    @von_Cronberg Agreed, I have as well. You don't get to top 100 without being an excellent player. Some just do things to manipulate the rankings beyond their skill. Playing only during high crystal events is certainly the most common tactic.

    While no one knows the exact formula, there are three main factors in the calculations. Up until Legend 1 rank, you get a large boost each time you rank. After that, the strongest correlation is with crystals to experience ratio (C/E). Third is K/D ratio. There are definitely some other, lesser factors involved. The recent experience bonuses hurt your C/E. If you are concerned with efficiency, you shouldn't play during the time with experience bonuses. People that are able to be juggernaut because of connection speed to servers are able to take advantage of those modes and gain high K/D. Solo juggernaut has been the key mode used for players to achieve high efficiency. Many people on the top 100 list only play their account during special events with Solo JGR or during crystal multiplier events (without experience multipliers of course). A lot (not all) of the high efficiency players game the system to artificially increase their efficiency. For example, using mechanic drone gives you score and consequently crystals but no experience. Dictator overdrive does the same thing. Many people exploited this during the time period when the scores given for those were higher. Another way it is gamed is via pro battles. Imagine a semi-private battle. The account trying to boost C/E makes no or minimal score but all other players leave before end of battle to give all crystals to this account with very little corresponding experience. I'm sure there are other ways to game the system. For a time I tried to get in top 100 but could never crack 115 playing straight up. I do know several of the top players like Kepa and Anything and they are just damn excellent players. C/E for a good player is going to be between 2 and 3. I've never had a daily C/E over 5. If you see a C/E for a day that is over 7 you know the player is gaming the system. In the screenshots, the numbers to the right of C/E and K/D are the daily numbers. Red if lower than overall and blue if higher. If you look at mine you can see exactly when the efficiency bonus has been in place. Incidentally, I expect the Closing account to take over #1 spot once it ranks to Legend. I've never seen another non-Legend account in top 100 and his C/E and K/D is better than Yarik's. (I don't have any stats for this account because it hasn't been played since I added him to tracking.) My guess is it will rank during birthday celebration if experience bonus is not in play.   23. I don't think overdrives add much to the gameplay but I think it is a waste of effort to try to ask for them to be removed. That is not going to happen. There is at least an outside chance that they will at some point make hornet overdrive more balanced. I do very much like the ability to see when opponents have overdrive ready but that mostly hurts wasps, hunters, and mammoths, as people are able to keep space.
  24. The experience bonus jacks up the Exp/Hr stats generally, but the fact that Railgun Exp/Hr is so low says to me that most of the usage is in XP/BP which doesn't have the bonus. @TheCongoSpider
