It depends on where you got the XT container from. For example, the one obtained from the Tanki trip promo code gave 500k crystals if you already had all XTs. The ones earned in challenges give only 20k.

Hi. In what way is the interface old? A good chance is that the Steam version is still using Tanki Online on Flash, which has the old interface. it's not exclusive to Steam - I still play with the old interface via standalone Flash player. The most likely outcome is that Steam will get a new launcher once HTML5 is fully released, but there's no urgency in doing it at the moment.
