As I_A_W pointed out, this is wrong.

Looks fantastic! ... wonder how it'd play. There's one high spot (roof) that might dominate the map. Looks like it could acommodate more than a6x6... Very cool you did htis.

Some really good teams tonight and a lot of fun on the Isida alt. It''s really a lot of fun when you have a good team. The best aspect of this special map/mission promotion is that you can always find a game! -
It would be fun (for Smoky users) but I think the other players might hate it. :)
-
Well, now a CH a any given range is only 9% stronger than a normal hit at the same range. So it shouldn't be too annoying from here out. However that extra 9% (w/DD up) can mean 1-hitting some Wasps (w/o DA up) at my level. (Or it can since my Smoky went to m2. 1-hitting anything unwounded I didn't expect.)
-
The reduction is power to the critical hit was much more significant than the small additional chance added for the CH to occur. Pre-adjustment the CHs added from about 14% to 18% to damage output. After the update CH's contribute about 1.8%. But, short range was extended a bit and short-range damage increased some. In practical terms that makes up for a lot of what was lost to the bigger CHs.

Yeah a good tanker is still the best weapon. Runs like that are what keep us coming back, I reckon. :)

I was one of them. What got me was that atop everything else, Rico has a good good vertical reach in addition to all its other abilities. But as you say now and others at the time said to me then, Rico has weaknesses that can be exploited. I actually think Tanki has achieved pretty good balance between the various turrets. That's not an easy thing to do.

Yup... another reason for my strategy to rank up slowwwwwly. Let those kitted people continue to out-rank me so I don't get eaten by them. ^_^ -

I understand all m3 kits are now available at whatever-is-two-ranks-before-Marshal. -

Oh absolutely only on sales! ... well except for the 1st 5 steps. But with so many exp points before me m3 is many months away. . I was just offering some numbers as to why the alterations do not tempt me - at this rank at least. I can squeeze out ore juice other ways. -
Oh I agree Rail is not overpowered. I never thought it was even before the update. It's a PITA in the hands of a good tanker but you can fight them effectively too. For my sake thank god so many rails are mounted on light hulls. :) Thanks for the kind words on the upgrade. It is friggin night and day. I knew there was a big theoretical jump in the numbers, but it really translates to combat. I am sorry to the forum community for being so salty. But imagine the frustration of a six-week delay in obtaining this sort of performance jump...

I can obtain the Cr but they are needed elsewhere. In fact I have about that after buying the Northerner kit. But I plan to spend that on the "normal" upgrade paths. Put another way, if I have 50k to invest in my Smoky I can either buy the m2 alteration which reduces my DPS by about 2%. Or I can spend that 50k to buy MU steps 1 to 20 or so ... which will boost my DPS by a significant (uncalculated) percentage. Hmm, a bit less damage or significantly more? No-brainer. OR I can just save that 50k towards the m3 gear step. But for the Legend 12 with all sorts of m4 turrets the alterations provide a way to spend those CR on some variety instead of just on drugs. -
The difference is insane. After ~2 months with the same m1 gear at the same MU level what was yesterday a tough proposition is sooo much easier. Of course saving up Supplies for ~2 months means I can drug if I have to. It's hard not to hit #4 when you have over 500 of them. Anyway, yeah I am looking forward to a much differnt experience on the halloween map this weekend. I'll keep an eye peeled for ya I_A_W. :)

Well, the Gods of Chance smiled upon me. I was finally able to buy the Northerner kit. It turns out the m2 gear performs notably better than the m1 gear I'd had. Go figure. We;ve all wondered if the change has swapped the roles of Viking and Hunter. I've used the term Thunkey to describe the new cannons. Perhaps I wuuld be better off using Thunder/ Hunter. But after a day's use I can report there is nothing wrong with Viking/Smoky. I could have been using this hear since Sept 23 the day LiitleWillie hit CPT if it were not for this arbitrary rotation system. Tanki should understand that player satisfaction is higher when players are actually allowed to obtain the gear they worked hard to afford. On a related note, it seems to me very few kits are available at any one time now. There were two other kits wa looking at and neither of them have been for sale the last threre rotations now. It seems Tanki is trying to coerce/manipulate their customers into buying kits for cash. (Soon kits may be available only for cash?) Once again, I suggest this sort of approach is counter-productive. Customers generally resent being manipulated.

One undiscussed feature of the update is proving to have a dramatic effect on the game ... the massive amount of additional lag. Le touche juste!

I agree with Tanki's effort to add new content. I support that 100%. What I am saying is, pretty much everything Tanki does is aimed at the players who are already Gizmos (soon: Legends). That is where their customer base lies. But the newer player does not benefit much from these latest moves. >>> Legend rank? I expect to never see Marshal, much less Gizmo, much less Legend. >>> The alteration system? New players can't afford them. They need to hoard every Cr for the next upgrade hurdle. >>> Or consider the way they moved all m3 gear to the Marshal rank. So the issue that move addressed for m3 gear still exists for players who use m0, m1, or m2 gear. (Clearly the only concern for this move too was fix the issue for the endgame players. Since all they did was shift the exploit to the lower ranks I'll abuse it instead.) I agree Tanki needs new players to remain a healthy gaming company. My bottom line point has always been that Tanki is shooting themselves in the foot in this regard. They seem to have lost touch with the new player. -

The speedup thing is a small matter. I commented on it only because once again stories from new players are dismissed as "their fault". I agree you make mistakes as you learn games and the point is to avoid repeating them. But OTOH different companies do better or worse at helping new players. Tanki does not score well in that category. Accept insights on the new player experience or not .. it really does not matter. What matters is that Tanki seems disinterested in listening. I even understand that to a certain degree. Tanki's player base consists of long-time players who have long-since exhausted what this game has to offer. So Tanki is creating new content, alterations and the like. With little new blood coming in, Tanki has chosen to cater to it's existing player base instead of expanding. I get that from a business point of view but it does not help me as a player. -
Well, Rail is one of the most common turrets so it makes sense to see a lot of rail countermeasures. This prevalence is to be expected since yet another one of Tanki's unfathomable decisions was to create special formats for rail users but not the 10 other turrets.

They did not say but I think they used the word 'soon', So Reckon on a 1-3 week window is my guess.

This "kinda your fault" stuff is exactly what I mean when I say both players and devs have forgotten what it is like to be a new player in TO. Veteran players know the system so well they assume it is intuitive to new players. It is not. It is more Byzantine that it is intuitive. The wiki is full of incomplete guidance. I too clicked the "speedup" thing a few times before I realized what I was wasting Cr. Wiki doesn't really touch on that. I didn't waste as many Cr as this poster did but I had the same lack of guidance and made the same mistake. Where I did waste money on MUs was I took my Smoky m0 to m1 through all 50 MU steps. Wiki says if you do that you get the next m# level for "free". I took this to mean you could do all 50 MU steps for the same cost of buying the next level outright. It was only when I was well into the process that I realized the MU approach cost a LOT more. By then I was so close I just kept going to 50. Anyway, the point being is the player base here is so lopsided towards long-time vets that the devs cater to that segment. The difficulties of new players seem to be simply not understood. -
Well all I can tell you is when using my m1 Fire do I see little red numbers followed by the enemy tank going boom. But it no wher elike before when I could swoop through a pack of the enemy and run off while in my rear-view mirror my victims contemplate imminent doom.

No, you get paid more Cr for beinbg below average on a winning team than for excelling on a losing team. Last week one game stood out for me. My tank did quite well in a losing cause. I had a k/r of something over 2.0 and made the difference in a few skirmishes. But the team lost badly. I finished with one-tenth the CR of an opponent who finished with about the same amount of exp as I did. One-tenth. There's no such thing as sticking around to be a good sport with the system. The only way t make any decent Cr/hour is to play only for winning teams / close games with a chance to win. If you are in a team that is doing poorly, quit immediately and look for a better team. Tanki has to create a system to reward good play on bad teams, and, to give players a reason to finish out a losing game/ -

This is exactly one of the shortcomings I've tried to publicize. Playing tanki is skipping from one game to anotehr until you manage to find a non-blowout at your rank level. It's a criminal waste of time to play for a losing side - no matter how well you do personally in that game.
