  2. I agree the Gauss would be garbage with a laser. Return (killing ability) would not compensate for making a beacon of yourself and getting way fewer hits. IMO it's the splash mechanics that need a bit of a nerf. It does too much damage too far out from point of impact. My F2P Lt. General account bought the m2 Gauss and has it upgraded to m2.10 Also have the m2 protection module upgraded to ~ 31%. It's all about priorities. Some players spend crystals on many combos, or devote many crystals to drones. Guass has been out long enough for players to have bought it and used it. Does not seem to be the infestation that Magnum was when it was introduced.

    Depends on how you want to use it. Lock-on time for m2 is too slow for fast-paced games in MM. So unless you become proficient at single-shots it is not worth it.
  4. I don't think there's a difference. "defended" or "held" are the same thing. All they did/do is count the # territories held at the end of each turn. The # territoties a team holds can remain static, go up or go down. But scoring would be cumulative from one turn to the next. Example of territories held by a team at end of each turn over 5 turns 1) Gain 3 lose none... awarded 3pts 2) Gain 2 lose none... awarded 5 pts (3+2)... total = 3+5 = 8 3) Gain 2 lose 1... awarded 6 pts (5+2-1) total= 3+5+6 = 14 4) Gain 1 lose 3 ... awarded 4 pts (6+1-3) total = 3+5+6+4 = 18 5) Gain 2 lose 2 ... awarded 4 pts (4+2-2) total = 3+5+6+4+4 = 22 points over 5 turns. This is how it worked in Lions/Bears/Wolves You saying there's no cumulation? How does thew war end? Just count # territories held on last turn?
  5. What? Rail is a comparable to Gauss in many aspects. If Gauss was so OP we'd see more of them, considering there has been at least 2 sales since turret was introduced - one of the sales at 50%. But I still see 3 Rails for every Gauss encountered. I also point out the difference between those with laser and Gauss. Those with laser do a lot more damage and can one-shot medium hulls without any enhancement.
  6. Gauss has no alterations and this isn't on Gauss... my m4 Hunter gets one-shot by hornet Rail all the time.

    During these events players get much, much more selfish. They leave battles early when there's even a chance they won't get 3 stars. I had players leave my team and we were WINNING. Plus players no longer play the battle mode they are in. Why try to capture a flag (and die - then waste time respawning) when you can sit back and just kill tanks. Every battle-mode has become TDM.
  8. Average damage for m4 Gauss is 1745. That can't even kill a light hull. Would take a (well) above average shot to kill light hull, or DD, which you can counter with DA or Protection Module. Otherwise it's Booster drone or Hornet OD (which is not a turret problem but an OD problem). Gauss does not do the same damage Striker and Shaft can do when laser enabled. Hence no need for laser. And... Shaft laser can be hidden - I've been killed by shafts many times without any notice.
  9. Isn't it points per territory held per turn? So cumulative... Over 2 diff turns hold 38 regions and lose 5 in next turn so hold 33. Total for 2 turns is 71. Pretty sure that's how it was in last "map war".

    Not even close. Camera angle can't be configured nearly as well as Flash had - angle is always off and it's too close. Movement is still laggy/bouncy and aiming is definitely more difficult. Whoever designed the back-arrow in interface right below the back-arrow of browsers should be slapped. Hit wrong arrow a bunch of times already. Trying to access garage during a 7-minute battle is also terrible. Just give us one button or allow G to go to garage. And stop with dealing an extra self-D every time we want to visit garage. We're already dead when we try to go there - no need for an additional death.

    Switch to Pro-Battles. This account does 1-3 missions per day then rest of time is in pro-battles. Not exactly "old tanki" but it's a close approximation.

    Even before the "nerf" mortar was arguably better than stock. You can get splash damage AND lay a mine. Alterations make many turrets better. Haven't used stock smoky since the last big batch of alts came out. Heven't used stock Ricco... EVER. Bought MFS alt at same time and never looked back.
  14. Just finished a battle where we won 2-1. Players on my team were bailing when they realized they were not gonna 2 or 3 stars. We finished battle 6 vs 8. PLAYERS ARE BAILING ON WINNING TEAM CUZ THEY WONT GET 3 STARS. These "events" are the worst thing that has happened to Tanki. They have turned battles into a joke.

And.... more ridiculously lopsided battles because... 1) One team has significantly more active tanks to start the battle and cap flags during this initial unbalance 2) Losing team starts to bail because they spotted other team 2 flags right of the bat and as we all know ... ONLY STARS MATTER NOW

    Fix the lag with players joining battles. Teams are capping 1-2 flags early in battle when they have no opposition. This basically puts battle out of reach as 1) there's not much time to recover and 2) winning team just boosted their ODs and now has an advantage for rest of battle.

    Hornet OD is better suited to ranged weapons as the hornet is somewhat fragile. Firebird needs to get up close so can be killed before it gets to attack. Rail-Hornet combos make much better use of the OD as 1) it can stay out of danger more and 2) can immediately kill enemies with it's ranged attack.

    Buyer will still get 3 6 stars. Winning battle really only matters if there is a "top-3-winners-team" mission. In this day-and-age getting as many stars as possible seems to be the only thing that matters. Sad...

    Yes - even modest protection can help you avoid getting one-shotted by snipers. Which is why my default modules are Shaft/Rail/Gauss. Most other turrets you have at least a chance to react (hide/RK/Shoot back/cap/etc...)

    Viking can destroy an entire team - IF conditions are right. Big IF. For most part I've found it's a gauranteed kill on on very tough enemies, and can often get 2 kills in the 7 seconds, and maybe 3 under very optimal situations. With Viking though, you have to be in position before you hit shift - else it's wasted opportunity. Hornet, with much longer duration, has more flexibility. And if conditions for Viking to wipe out a team are there, same can be said for Hornet. If a Gauss Hornet with OD ready surprises a group of enemies, it can snipe a bunch of them with one shot due to massive splash damage and zero protection. By the time they respawn the Hornet-Gauss is ready to snipe again. Targets better hope they can kill that hornet in < 2 seconds.

    Supplies do not affect the impact of alterations so much. The biggest factor is protection modules as they stack with the inevitable DA. But as smoky incendary alt does 2 different types of damage, it is definitely useful even in MM where everyone uses supplies. This is because defenders need two modules to protect against your 1 turret. If no Firebirds are on your team, are they gonne equip 2/3 of their module slots to protect against 1 turret?

    "one after another" sounds like individual snipes? At best it would take an m4 Gauss 17 seconds to snipe 4 tanks - what was each tank doing during that time? And if this hornet wasn't hiding, why did none of your team kill it? Hornet (especially at mid-ranks) is the weakest hull in the game. And if it's one-shotting your team "early in battle" it is likely using DD. Why was no one using DA to counter?

    Does a Hornet-Rail with DD & OD bother you as much as Hunter? It causes a medium tank to drop the flag ... from a much farther distance than Hunter can...
  24. Lots of garbage teams tonight. These events bring out the "best" ? in people. I especially like how my Lt. general account gets to play against legends with GS 9300+ while my team has a Marshal using equipment with a GS score of 4000. That's just super!
