What was the reason for Gear Score's implementation? Was it so people could have the motivation to get to the highest number possible? Was it to hide the fact that everyone in the mid ranks has M1 and M2 10/10 so the players wouldn't feel overwhelmed? I don't think they properly answered this question when we asked them.

Not to mention the number of hackers as well. Regular golds drop? Jump hackers jump to their hearts' content. Meteor drops? Vikings: "Gotta go faster than Wasp M4!"

What positive things do you want to see in Tanki Online?
TheCongoSpider replied to KariWolves2 in Archive
I would love to see a shift in the behaviour of the average modern Tanki player. I loved looking at the chat back in 2014-15 and seeing players helping out other players with problems. Seeing players engaging in productive discussions without many arguments and without swearing. These days, all I'm seeing is swearing being tossed back and forth. In most scenarios, the aggressor had no reason to do it other than to gain attention or satisfy what insecurity they may have had. I would like to see quieter and more constructive (not aggressive in any way) discussions about topics and no spamming in the channels. I would like to see a sharp decline in the use of the word "noob" in the game. It has become really colloquialised and it is often used to express frustration against other players. Often times, for no reason. I kill someone, I'm a noob. I cap a flag, I'm a noob. I score a goal, I'm a noob. I'm shooting at the defenders of the Blue team in Assualt because I'm on the red team, I'm a noob. I die by being one-shotted by an enemy Shaft, I'm a noob. I take a gold box that was in a part of the map that no one checked, I'm a noob. I didn't get to heal you in time because you kept driving away from me straight into the enemy base and died, I'm a noob. I don't share my Overdrive with you because I know we would get killed in the next few seconds, I'm a noob. I block an enemy from escaping with my team's flag with my Titan, I'm a noob. I say my opinion about current issues in the General Chat, I'm a noob. I disagree on something a famous tanker says, I'm a noob. I die while healing a teammate because the teammate fails at protecting me by clocking the shots, I'm a noob. I exist, I'm a noob. That has to stop. It makes me feel a certain way. It's getting to the point where it's so pathetic, I often have to inflict self-damage on my body to get over it. (Don't worry about that) You can't call people a "noob" for doing what you're supposed to in a game. I like MM and I found that it was necessary. I would like to see tighter rank brackets like said because it makes no sense putting a Warrant Officer 5 in the same battle as a Major General or a Colonel in the same battle as a Legend. I would like to see the devs be more transparent with their data. Along with this, I would like to see them be honest in their actions. If they nerf or buff something, make it public and not keep it a secret. If something is being complained about, look into it. I would like to see the Wiki being updated to show up-to-date information about in-game mechanics and guides for low and mid-rankers. I would like to see alterations that are balanced and in no way, on average, get more EXP than their stock counterpart. I would like to see fewer cheaters and hackers in the game. I would like to see Product Kit rank unlocks increased as soon as possible. I would like to see new and exciting challenges (not the one with the stars, the ones like The GAME) that no demographic would have an advantage in over the other demographics. I would like to see the devs communicating with the players in the forum more often. These are some of the things I would like to see. They aren't all but they're enough for now. -
I see at least one Lightning Storm paint user in every MM battle I go to and they are different people every time. This is in the Warrant Officer ranks by the way. I only see about 2-4 LED paint users per Warrant Officer battle. One thing that gets held constant is that almost all the of the Lightning Storm and LED users are people playing with the Siberian Kit. I saw a few Legends with Lightning Storm.

What makes you Mad in Tanki? Things you hate/like in the game?
TheCongoSpider replied to Ditzy-Dip in Archive
This makes me mad. All have common characteristics. they only use Double Armours, Speed Boosts and Repair Kits. The Repair Kits part make sense since, assuming they are getting lucky with getting the gold boxes and not using hacks, they can buy them. Speed boosts and double armours don't make much sense since they are only unlockable at Master Corporal. For this, I am not giving them the benefit of the doubt of them getting containers without hacks and coincidentally getting only double armours and speed boosts in them. If they are getting double armours and mines from the containers as expressed by their Gear Score, why aren't they using it to their advantage? Why are they only using the minimum requirement to catch golds? They don't even make an effort to kill when the gold is dropping (which would give them better chances to take the gold) as seen by their amount of kills and their K/D. They don't even touch their Double Armours or Mines. If they are, it's less than 5 times. Another thing is that they only played DM. Some of them played TDM but they didn't even get more than 30 EXP from it after playing for hours in it. This doesn't make sense. I had my suspicions about the player v7.7 and lately, he seems to be legitimate as he is ranking up and has been getting kills with the kits he buys. He hasn't been online today which is strange but I hope he didn't make another account just to repeat the process. So many throwaway accounts for WHAT?!?! What is the point of making these throwaway accounts other than messing with legitimate players' natural progress? I hate seeing this and it doesn't seem like tanki is doing anything about it. Speed hackers are so abundant in the low ranks it's insane. There are also a lot of speed hacker in the high ranks. Just earlier today, I saw an M3 Smoky Dictator using Autocannon speed hacking. I understand that the Recruit ranked accounts that are doing this have nothing to lose but many high-rank players who are doing this have lots of things to lose! Why are they doing this?! What are the devs doing to stop this?!?! Why do so many players have access to a speed hack? This is what has been making me mad recently in Tanki. -
Also, this is what happens when you let a Duplet user, who is at the same rank as Duplet's unlockability, into a battle with them being the highest rank. The guy had BOTH the most kills and the least deaths. Also, how demotivating it is for someone in the Warrant Officer ranks to meet someone with 34% protection against their turret? Congratulations to rush8 as well for ranking and dropping 2 golds in that battle. Unfortunately, the Duplet got one. <_<

Yeah, with Striker, I would get at least 25 kills in every DM battle. I had completely forgotten that today was 20x golds until I came on and saw the snowflake. I use Titan so gold catching was out of the equation for me. Instead, I just racked up kills on all the people trying to get the gold box while also killing the Lifeguard drone users before the gold drops. I got many complimentary messages from those players :). I played about 10 battles on this account and came first in all of them. In my last one, I was gonna come second by one kill but I ended up getting a kill in the last 2 seconds of the battle. and tieing for first place. It's gonna suck when battle funds are back to normal and there's no Christmas map :(. I didn't see too many Duplets during those 10 battles though. And even when I saw them and they saw me, they were smart enough to run towards me and stick up on me so I had no choice but to let them kill me than risk self-destructing. Most of the players had Freeze and Firebird equipped. For some reason, Freeze seems to be getting all the kills when they and other turrets are shooting the same targets at the same time and it's honestly pissing me off.

Did an experiment in MM Assault mode to figure out why I was being placed on the Blue team so much. Honestly, I like being on the Blue team because I use Isida but sometimes, I like to help the attackers by shooting into the base. I did 15 Assault battles over 3 days and in 12 of the 15, I was placed on the Blue team. All 15 battles, my combo going into the battle was Isida + Titan. This was before the Alteration sale. After I bought "Launcher: Uranium" for Striker in the sale, whenever I had to do Assault for a Mission, I would want to be on the Red team so I can maximise Striker's potential there. I didn't record the exact number (it was less than 10 but more than 5 battles) but when going into the battle with the combo Striker + Titan, I was placed on the Red team more often than the Blue Team. I wanna believe this is a hidden mechanic of Matchmaking. Since the game mode is basically Attacker vs Defender, it makes sense that they sort the attackers away from the defenders. How well they do this and mix it up between the teams though, is questionable.

It's worse when you have to get 1,500 score in Assault...which seems to be the least played game mode in MM right now. I'd rather get "800 crystals in DM" and face all those Duplet hammers than play potentially 5-7 battles of Assault that would take long to get into and hopefully not get spawnkilled if I'm on the blue team.

11 ping? On a good day, I get at most 80 ping.

The sad thing is that Twins' impact force is stronger than it should be. If you're a Hornet or a Viking trying to catch up to it and it's shooting at you, chances are that you're not gonna be able to do decent damage to it since, for a melee turret, you'd be constantly out of range as the shots push you back and for close range turrets, you aim would be constantly knocked off because some shots would tap you but then others would slap you. Nerfing the impact force wuld give a lot of turrets a better chance at lethally damaging the Twins.
-
They need to just nerf Duplet. Stock Hammer is already struggling with all these Hammer Protection Modules around. It doesn't need any more struggles than that.

Ok, I encountered a few Autosmokies over the past two days and it seems like the firing rate was a bit slower than I remember it being. Although it didn't seem a slow as the Rapid-fire mode alteration for Shaft, I'll dismiss it as me having bad memory for now until the test server gives us high ranks to play with to test it out. Heh, and Thunder needs a nerf in impact force. I remember back when they said there were gonna buff it. Thunder's impact force was already powerful and they made it even stronger. I'll never forget that time an M0 Thunder's shot made my stationary M2 Dictator rotate 100 degrees. That doesn't happen anymore but I'll never forget when that happened. Also, Sledgehammer rounds needs to be nerfed. It needs to have another downside besides Maximum damage range -90%. This is basically an upgrade and not an alteration.

I remember a time a few years ago wherein a high-rank Noise CTF battle (it was like that for me because I was a Major and the highest rank in the battle was General) and I was on the blue team. Thankfully, it didn't have Magnum back then but Thunders on the red team would usually go to the place in the middle where they could see the enemies in their base and shoot downwards. Knowing that I would die if I went up, I changed to Isida (I was reluctant because it was M0 and I had M3s to heal) and I felt joy in healing my teammates. My exact words were, "Damn, I forgot how good it feels to be a healer!" We lost but I had loved the feeling of being an Isida after that. Right now, Isida is my favourite turret and I take great joy in healing my teammates. I'll admit that I took a great blow after my first experience of not getting any score for healing the self-damage but, in a way, I guess it was to make it so that the Incendiary Band alteration is to be used by itself without any help. Maybe that's how Tanki saw it. Incendiary Bands maybe were meant to be used by themselves so Vulcans can kill themselves while weakening the enemy team even more than they could with Stock Vulcan. Isidas happen to be able to heal their self-damage and make the alteration even more deadly than it should have been. So in an effort to deter the Isidas from healing the Vulcans so that it would be seen like how I described it earlier, they made it so that the Isidas would get no score; and in an effort to keep consistent and to also stop power levelling, they made it that way for all self-damage turrets. I will continue to heal the Vulcans if it means that my team can get a bit more stars for a victory. Yeah it sucks that I have to depend on the enemies to target the Vulcan which is a deterring factor but I also like to make my teammates feel comfortable engaging in situations they would think to do otherwise. I'm a selfless person after all. My K/D dropped from >3 to 1.54 right now because I would use Isida and sacrifice myself so my teammates can make it to the point, capture a flag, score a goal etc. And frankly, a lot of players these days are selfish and it bothers me.

I've been playing only with Uranium Striker on this account because the speed makes it more satisfying when I hit my target. I have Striker M1 7/10 going on 8 right now and I put it down since the alteration sale on the 27th and instead, kept using the High-pressure pump alteration on Firebird. I decided to give High-pressure pump a rest and get back to using Striker. After using Uranium for so long, I was shocked when I saw how fast the missiles in Stock Striker accelerate. I like "Launcher: Hunter" but for me, I usually hit my one-by-one missiles so I don't really need it. I mainly use it when playing on the red team in a Serphuhov PRO battle since I'm on a higher elevation than my enemies and they tend to get out of the way before my missile hits them.

The same thing happens with Ricochet and Twins (to an extent). Does that mean that Ricochet and Twins are equally annoying to you as well?

The Russian Forum isn't enough proof. It needs to be evidence found in-game.

With the implementation of the decreased rank requirement for purchasing kits, Freezes have been dominating the Warrant Officer battles. It's getting to the point where they win even in large maps. The first place player was a Freeze. He had a 22.00 D/L until he died for the second time. Back in my fun days in Tanki, I always thought the Siberian Kit was a mistake but now, that mistake turned into something that shouldn't have been in the first place. I see too many players under WO5 with M2 Freeze protection and it's pissing me off that the rank requirement decrease did this.
-
It doesn't work for me.
-
I'm too willing to believe that all of this was intentional. They had enough time to stop it and make an announcement but noooo, "We gotta stay as opaque as we can be, transparency is a curse". The damage has already been done. Everyone is running around with an inexpensive alteration on their probably max upgraded Firebird. They don't seem like they're listening to us either. I hope Alternativa isn't doing this just to earn extra revenue. The only way I would tolerate this is if Tanki is actually making losses.
-
Nah, they need to just delete it and hand everyone a refund of 100k crystals (this might be a good thing for people who bought it for 50k during the sale). Don't even try to balance it, just delete it. It should only be considered a luxury of the past in Tanki's history and that's it.

Hmm, while I was washing my car, my rhythm of wiping the car clean made me realise something. I was wiping it at what I remember being the speed that an Autocannon Smoky shoots at. I kept doing it until I realised that I didn't initiate the second phase of the wipe in 0.5 seconds rather, it was less. I then tried to think of all the alterations that reduce the reload to 0.5 seconds and I remember Shaft's Rapid-fire mode alteration does that. From my experience in the test server, I've come to realise that Shaft, when equipped with this alteration, shoots slower than an Autocannon Smoky despite them "having the same reload time". As of now, this is just speculation. I do not have the alterations to compare them and the test server has been giving the players low ranks for some reason. My only evidence for this claim is contained in my mind and we all know that's not good enough. Can someone who has these alterations please test it out and see if they have the same reload time. Going by my memory (and assuming that Shaft's reload time is actually 0.5 second because it's more believable), it seems that Autocannon reloads in 0.35 seconds and Shaft reloads in 0.5 seconds.
-
I'll still heal the Vulcans. I just have to depend on the enemies to attack the Vulcan now. I'm a selfless person. I'll do what it takes to lead my team to victory, even if it means self-harm has to be done.

I was gonna write a 2000+ word reply until I saw how short other players' answers were...

I don't know how to respond to this...
