    A Rant About Tanki

That's a difficult metric to calculate, player numbers are naturally declining at the same time. So the question is, did all the changes help counteract that decline, and how big the effect actually was? Either way, the data is not publicly available.

    A Rant About Tanki

You have the right to play anything you want. XP/BP is still there, and in the HTML5 version it's even completely free of charge (no PRO pass needed). But because of its nature with upgrades/supplies/drones/augments/etc. all disabled, it used to be a very efficient way to farm resources, where you get a steady stream of crystals just from playing, with no pressure. Now this sounds great for players (and it was), but the game economy suffereed significant loss because of this method. So yes, the reasons for disabling battle funds in format battles are almost entirely materialistic. The only other reason is to encourage format battle enthusiasts to go into MM more often, since maintaining high player counts makes MM work more effectively. I must point out that almost all other games, that have an option to make your own matches with custom settings, do not give players any rewards for playing in such battles.

    Matchmaking Concerns

    ? nice one
  4. Topic merged This was suggested multiple times before. We reported it to developers and there's a link to a previous version of this idea in the second post of this topic.

    Mad Tanks!

I agree with some of these. Played a few rounds of CTF yesterday, and I have to admit it seemed more fun and more intense compared to normal settings. But then again, I was using a Mk8 Hopper, so I had the privilige of being able to force enemies to drop their flags with my OD if they had too much health/protection/armour. 5-minute battles are definitely not my thing. 8-10 would be a much better length, especially since end battle rewards are no longer the main source of stars, so there is no incentive to earn stars as fast as possible. Yeah. The first time was with crystal boxes, though that was less of an experiment and more of poorly made update that was quickly removed due to overwhelming negative feedback. There was at least another one or two supplies experiments, which also lasted a couple weeks and got reverted. I remember one of them made it so that everyone had extremely long supply cooldowns which didn't get reset upon death.

    Mad Tanks!

Guys I get it now. We have to play with fewer people per map due to social distancing requirements! Kind of a late response on behalf of devs, but I repect them for taking active steps towards keeping the players safe!

    Mad Tanks!

All hulls get have double health, and the listed turrets get double energy. This just means they can shoot for twice as long before needing to recharge, but their damage remains the same.

Probably to gather enough data. 2 weeks must have been chosen as a compromise between getting enough data and not being too long to endure.

Topic merged Please read the first post of this topic carefully, as it explains that the test server would not be enough to get realistic results from changes this extreme. It had to be done on main servers.

    Legacy week

I think what you meant to say here is 1 gold dropping after every 2 hours of gameplay. That's pre-2013 golds for ya ?

    Mad Tanks!

I wish everyone would be like Riddler. Devs asked for feedback — he gave feedback. No messing around. P.S. I'd still recommend that you keep playing and experiment with different equipment combos and game modes. Your opinion may change significantly once the novelty of this update wears off.

Well that escallated quickly ? But then again, the x6 experience is really making a difference there.

It means Twins will be shooting... with... uhh... more energy ? I have no idea...

    Let's Discuss Ares!

Maybe Hopper still has the novelty bonus. But I'm honestly not sure. Overall, people tend to prefer faster hulls though, and heavy hulls in general are not that popular. You don't see that many Titans and Mammoths either.

    Let's Discuss Ares!

I see it occasionally and I'd still be using it now if Hopper wasn't released. I think it's pretty cool, but people just didn't get accustomed to hover hulls yet, and some may still be waiting for sales to finish upgrading it to Mk8 before using it in MM battles.

    Mad Tanks!

If Massacre ever comes back, I'd recommend using hover hulls on it. You still occasionally get stuck on textures, but for the most part it's just a joy to glide over the hills and bumps, unlike normal hulls which constantly get stuck and flip all over the place.

    Ideas for Maps!

I fully agree with @ThirdOnion here. The appeal of night mode lies in the aesthetic use of lighting effects to light up the othewise dark map. With Tanki's current rather poor lighting engine it's not gonna work well at all.
  21. I strongly disagree, even without results from testing. Night mode is hard on the eyes and makes it difficult to see things. Tanks and paints look dull, details look washed out, and in general it's a less pleasant experience. If devs added proper lighting that would make maps look like something out of Cyberpunk, then maybe it would have some appeal, but night mode in its current form is just a gimmick that's sometimes used for special events and rank-up parties.
  22. There are many theories, but the big truth is that Tanki is an old game. You won't find many other online games out there which manage to maintain a large audience for more than 10 years. After a while everyone gets bored and moves on to more recently released games, and game developer studios create new games instead of supporting old projects. Tanki developers also had to deal with a number of unfortunare circumstances. For example, in 2015 the game's development was practically abandoned in favour of finishing Tanki X, because originally Tanki X was meant to replace Tanki Online, with current players' accounts getting migreated to the new game. But when TX was almost finished, browsers suddenly decided that they won't be supporting Unity (which was the game engine Tanki X was built on), which effectively meant that TX was doomed from the beginning and Tanki Online will remain. But lots of players already left in 2015 during the long period of no updated. Then there's also the massive issue with Flash becoming outdated, and devs had to spend an insane amount of resources rewriting the whole game for the HTML5 game engine. During that time significant game updates were rare, so people continued leaving. And all-in-all Tanki is just an outdated game genre, so new players are just not that interested in this type of game.
  23. Wow, I didn't even realise. Thanks ?
