Well, if it means a lot of crystals, I will play noobs in Combe for an hour, or pick up rabbit poop, if they drop it from the sky.

Have I overlooked a rule? Somebody thinks so
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in Have I overlooked a rule? Somebody thinks so Game Violation Reports
I was playing in a Pro Battle and using Shaft. Is this somehow verboten? (An enemy player was doing the same.) Some players took exception to this, and one went so far as to continually push, block, and flip me, preventing me from playing and not doing the team much good either. Player tankict12345677 on my team attacked me 4 or 5 times before I decided to video, and 3 times on the video. He is only speaking Russian, but evidently he and players baby1256 and metalbaz think I'm either a noob or too weak (maybe so, but is someone going to take my place who is absolutely better?). They actually want to "ban me" from playing in their battle (which they won, by the way, with my unstinting effort -- didn't they notice the strong enemies staggering into the Polygon pit after they had received my -550 to their health?) Having joined late, I had the lowest score, and the fewest kills, and this wasn't helped by the unwelcome actions of tankict12345677. I did go from 8 kill, 21 loss to 81 kill, 99 loss and would have had over 100. Video: delete At times 1:35, 6:01, and 7:45 (3 of the more than 10 times in the battle) -
I had just the opposite experience. I was about to be killed by the Reds in Noise with the WINNING FLAG! So rather than go off the map, I jumped toward the *MIDDLE* and when I got killed, I got thrown outward, and the flag fell straight down to be captured by my teammates! We won!

If you are REALLY REALLY anxious about Gold Boxes, a 4 to 7 player battle in Arena is probably your best bet: be ready to dash at full power to the center of the top ramp. I recommend that you self-destruct as soon as the klaxon goes off, then pause about 15 to 20 seconds. Be prepared to climb an open stairway and kill anyone in your way, because you can't get past them on the narrow catwalks. I normally avoid Arena like the plague, but then I accidentally got TWO Gold Boxes while playing Pro Battles (DM) on Arena.

MAYBE NOOBS ARE JUST INCAPABLE OF RATIONAL THOUGHT (even Gizmos can be noobs) Here's the story today: 1) All the inferior RED enemies (noobs?) quickly leave the Pro Battle that foolishly has no time limit. 2) Most of the BLUE team are non-compos-mentis and do not even realize they need to capture the 27 flags to end the battle 3) All the BLUES except me leave. (noobs?) 4) I run to make 12 more captures to collect my reward but...three REDS arrive and kick my butt 5) The RED trio starts capturing flags while I pause and hide, waiting for them to win out... HERE COME THE REAL NOOBS -- new Blue guys join and despite getting killed repeatedly, keep coming back 6 or 7 times, and THEN THEY LEAVE....what did they accomplish except giving battle funds to the enemies and letting more of them join? Hi, I'm a noob. Please kill me over and over. Story has a happy ending. RED noobs start showing up too, swelling the teams to a dozen, and the RED trio who couldn't be bothered to end the battle...LOST to a whole pile of non-noobs, who captured the remaining flags and made me a hero and top scorer.

Been there, seen that. They must think it improves your score. ^_^

Anyone seen this scam? The never-ending PRO battle
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in Anyone seen this scam? The never-ending PRO battle Archive
There is a SILENCE game (PRO BATTLE) on RU2 with only one ending: capture of 4 flags Some of the players are obviously in collusion: they prevent the end of the battle and just kill the enemy visitors, who eventually get frustrated and leave. Evidently they have decided among themselves who to shoot and who not to shoot, making it impossible for the other (legitimate) players to successfully finish the battle. Players are passively or actively preventing other players from scoring, or just doing nothing but loiter at their flags and killing anyone trying to take them. At the end of the day, the squatters collect a huge battle fund from the players who got tired of a never-ending game and quit. It is essentially a scam. The game has been going on for hours and only 1 flag has been captured by each team. IMHO: ALL GAMES WITH REASONABLE GOALS SHOULD HAVE A REASONABLE TIME LIMIT. Has anyone else reported this behavior? -
25 PRO battles in a row @2000 each -- that's how I got 50,000 XP in a day without buying supplies.

The explanation is on the Wiki: http://en.tankiwiki.com/Missions You don't have to do anything on the three missions to accept them: just play and the stats will update automatically. If there is one you don't want to play, you can change ONE A DAY for free. Some will carry over to the next day (9999/99999 missions) if they are not completed, while the easy ones will be deleted and replaced if not completed.
-
What were you worried about? Not getting any rewards because you got killed by everybody?
-
Yeah, that fooled me the first time -- I wasn't sure if I had clicked once or twice on the CHANGE. What would be nice would be a toggle to CHANGE BACK FOR FREE if the change is not to your liking. After the rapid completion today, maybe I will try one of the longer ones next time it is offered.

All you need to do to get the boxes (e.g. Repair, Speed-Up) is go to a battle where they are infrequently used: The blue side of Rio is a good example of Repairs that are regularly ignored. The stairs on Madness have 5 speed-ups apiece (it was designed to let heavy tanks play both top and bottom, as otherwise it is a L-O-N-G haul up the stairs - what the designers apparently overlooked is that ONE tank will usually hit ALL of them, even though they only need one) I did the 3 "easy" missions in about an hour. I think THAT is why they are so easy: so as not to discourage people who DON'T spend hours and hours on battles. After about 3 hours, the game begins to get tedious for most players. If you are desperate enough, you can do what I did: create a new battle, wait for someone to arrive, get your boxes, and leave. Of course, the guy who showed up did not mind me killing him 9 or 10 times, so I stayed for the whole 15 minutes ;)

Why does this make me happy? No more free stuff for dummy accounts. Whose idea was it to have a separate account for each hull???
-
Man, I have seen some bad teams. I started to play for Red on a CP, and Red went ahead, but then the guys were busy shooting folks instead of taking the CP points. So I quit and went to play for Blue, who was coming on and would have won... but those dodos started doing exactly the same thing! Like they were too scared to get shot. We lost by FIVE POINTS and it cost me 300 in rewards. Maybe I can find some way to blame it on the Daily Missions....
-
I play Shaft at Madness, and with the right team, I get about 2 kills a minute. For 5 a minute, you'd have to have them walking in front of you like ducks... I think getting 200 kills a day would be my tops, playing no more than 4 or 5 hours, which is a lot for me.
-
It may be cynical, but I've seen so many players ALREADY playing just for themselves (e.g. sit back and watch at Polygon) that I don't think Daily Missions can be blamed for less team support. In fact, they could work the other way: Yesterday I went into Rio "just to grab the Repair supply" and ended up playing for 10 minutes to keep the Blue team winning!
-
No, the shaft problem now seems confined to certain inputs *especially trying to turn or move forward when spawning* (common when there is spawn killing, otherwise rarely a necessity - I now remember what NOT to do). But , yes, I get at least ONE per battle when using Shaft, sometimes twice. Wastes a life sometimes... Why would someone need HELP with Daily Missions?? Unless you are playing up against tougher players. Either A ) they can be done while playing battles you might go in anyway B ) if you don't like one, you can swap it for something different, or spend the crystals to change it (you will always get back 2x) I was really prepared to NOT LIKE the Daily Missions, now I think they are okay. Still doing 3 a day.
-
The only thing better than free supplies would be choice of free supplies, or some form of barter that would clear out the garages. I would give my 18,000 speed-ups to get a couple of thousand (well, even a couple of hundred) of the DA or DD drugs. (I wonder how many people made Gizmo like I did...? Buy lots of supplies, use them to rank up and buy cheaper supplies, to get the top equipment and supplies that mean...I don't have to buy supplies any more. B)
-
Maybe not luck: it looks like those 9999/99999 missions are going to pop up for all Gizmos..."eventually"... I passed on the 99999 (would take me days and hogs an available spot) and swapped it free for another easy 300 mission.
-
Okay, there are only two major drawbacks to the Daily Missions: 1) Many players are already focused strictly on their own scores in team battles, and this can make it worse. 2) You can get mission credit even if you leave a battle (which actually comes in handy sometimes) We REALLY REALLY need to fix this "carryover" of UNEQUAL TEAM NUMBERS, which this may exacerbate. When battles rollover, the teams are not the same size, and unless new players join quickly, it becomes one rout after another.
-
Yeah, well on many maps, such as Monte Carlo, this entails going into No Man's Land or across enemy fire. When the Gold Box is caught, those tanks are not going to risk getting shot *going home* so anytime a tank moves FORWARD on you, destroying or at least partly injuring it is a very wise precaution. Otherwise the Gold Box is a quick trip to getting overrun or scored on. I've seen TWO battles lost that way because the enemy gave up their strong position in the futile hope of getting a Gold Box. You have to catch at least 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 to make it even worthwhile.

Well, this is a first. A suggestion I made (mine cooldown) is finally implemented, albeit as part of a larger change. I noted the reluctance to use MINES (the only non-dropped supply) due to the possible conflict with a Repair. I'm probably not the only one that had a huge supply of mines from discount purchases and daily gifts, as there are few places and times to properly employ them -- given that they are wasted if you die. A lot are used wastefully for spawn killing. Some spots to use them: - downramp to flag , and along main firing line (Monte Carlo) - open path to Blue Flag, ramp to red Flag (Rio) - open paths to Red or Blue flag area (Serpuhov) - up ramps at Red Flag, downramps at Blue Flag (Noise) - generally around the flag and paths (Silence) I did feel a little bad for the novice tanker who exploded FOUR times in a row jumping over at Monte Carlo.

Well, I'm not a lab rat, and I didn't appreciate dumping this test on everyone just to see who liked it (the vast majority apparently did NOT, so of course its being kept  ). It adversely affected my play, but not as drastically as the other "helpful updates" we've seen. Make the toggle DEFAULT TO OLD SPEED. And it's nice to see some of the "don't complain" folks again, who are trotted out to shill for every unwelcome change.

Has no one noticed that restarted battles are no longer truncating teams? I saw the same 2-against-8 flipped when the battle ended. All the 2 can do is leave or hope some fool will join a hopelessly outnumbered team.
